    Would love if they added something similar to Izotope voice de-noise. It's really good at removing things like fan noise without changing your voice to much. Because even with a noise gate you still hear loud fans when you speak.

    On the settings, try holding down your control key while sliding. In most audio editing software that gives you fine tuning on sliders and knobs.

    I tend to gravitate towards the GoXLR "proper" for the 10 band EQ and De-Esser. Don't really use the sound pads and the automated faders are just jingling keys.
    Is the more expansive EQ and De-Esser worth the added $ and space consumption or is it psychosomatic at this point?

  • @therealdadbeardold7244

    I'm using VB Potato with one VB-Cable and the HiFI ASIO Bridge. On both are limiters running with Equalizer APO. Then I'm using the Voicemeeter Insert to have some nice VST effects on my mic (VOLA2, Mequalizer,SEGX2) which I then monitor at a buffer of 96 via ASIO from my Soundblaster Z. This works amazingly well but only because I have a 3700x so I don't really have sound poppoing because of the low buffer.
    But Epos is right. This does sound super complicated and has it's own issue that you have to know your way around.

    • @KryssN1
      @KryssN1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey,
      It seems like you know what you are doing with VST Plugins and VoiceMeter Banana so I had quick question and maybe you could point me in the right direction.
      How is your exprience with VST Plugins / APO / VoiceMeter for System Wide (not only for streaming) microphone processing and what plugins you are using?
      Do you get issues like lot of lag, robot voice, it being a hassle crashing and so on?
      My main goal is to have system wide microphone processing (gate/compression/limiter/EQ) not only for OBS (could do VST plugins in OBS) and Recording (I could do that post) of course saving money when it's not necessary to spend.
      I would have no issue setting up VoiceMeter and Vitrual Audio Cables or even VSTHost, but I am scared of having bad experience even after setting it up properly, with lag, robot voice, cracking and with too much hassle.
      I got a 4c/8t 4770K CPU, 16GB RAM , for audio I got Sound Blaster Z already. Planning to upgrade CPU when new Zen3 comes out.
      I will need a mixer or audio interface down the line for Studio Monitors.
      GoXLR Mini low-key sucks that it doesn't have output for Studio Monitors, it would been instant buy for me if it did or either 300ohm Headphone AMP or 2 XLR inputs, either one of those. At lower price point, Audio Interfaces all offer that, just that DSP for Mic....
      Thanks

    • @therealdadbeardold7244
      @therealdadbeardold7244 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KryssN1 ELEMENT by Kushview with a VST Chain of VOLA > reaJS De-Esser > SEGX2 gate. No other free plugins gave the results I want.
      Hooked up to the Voicemeeter Insert where I can then send the processed mic to VAIO. This is then used by Discord etc.
      In OBS I use the ASIO plugin so I only have to correct by like 2ms.
      Least I use Voicemeeter HI-FI cable for all my System/Game audio needs. EAPO doesn't work on VAIO etc. for whatever reason so I need to use this. It then sens the sound via ASIO to VB VAIO. Default Audio device needs to be HI-FI.
      On this device you can then add more VST effects for SYSTEMWIDE use via EAPO. I have a brick wall limiter on it.
      On VB-Cable A (Discord outpuit) + B(Spotify) I have it too. I'm using LoudMax.
      I can monitor myselfs this way easily with a 96 buffer on my SoundblasterZ and everything else WILL have a slight delay of about 1-10ms maybe.
      I have a 3700x though. Before I had the 4790 and it wasn't always that nice. Had to have the buffer at 192 or it would crackle on high usage. Still does on the 3700x on 96 but only when my CPU is pinned rarely happens while gaming.

    I am between EVO 4 and this Go XLR Mini. EVO allows to connect it to your mobile (for example to use your Shure SM7B in a video call in Skype), and also use it directly to your digital camera, without a computer. As Go XLR Mini configures everything in your computer (assign the use of each knob), I am not sure if this device can be used without a computer, just as a preamp for a mobile phone or digital camera. Is that possible?

    I was reading the specs and for me the biggest let down was the 24bit/48khz. I know the market they were aiming for but they would have opened up an even larger market if they would have done 96khz or 192khz. Since they are having manufacturing problems and the queue is very long it is all a moot point and a MOTU M2+DBX 286s will have to suffice.

  • @pxmonkeederp
    @pxmonkeederp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The preamps in a Focusrite or Behringer aren't cheaper. The SM7B is a dynamic mic, meaning it doesn't use phantom power like a condenser mic would. That's why you would use something like a Cloudlifter with it.

    • @EposVox
      @EposVox  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those are two completely unrelated statements.
      Yes, SM7B is dynamic and doesn't use phantom power. That's completely irrelevant. A high-end pre-amp that can provide +75db or more of gain means having a clean signal from such a mic without the use/need for a cloudlifter. The GoXLR and Mini do this. (Mini provides slightly less gain but still enough). In fact, the cloudlifter can even add *more* noise because it's lower quality than the MIDAS pre-amps inside.
      Pre-amps in a cheaper Focusrite or Behringer interface, however, cannot provide enough gain for this, thus a cloudlifter is needed.
      They require higher cranking to reach required audio levels, and upon doing so, add a lot of noise to the signal.
      By all objective measurement of how pre-amps work and quality is measured, they are lower quality/cheaper pre-amps. That's literally what separates quality tiers of pre-amps.

    I was looking at this product and I currently use a Audio Technica AT2020 usb and a pair of Astro A50s the 2016 version, so they are wireless with no audio jack and use an optical audio jack to the pc along with an usb for power. Will I be able to use the Go Xlr mini with those two items? I just want to make sure I can still use the peripherals I own now and won't waste a bunch of money on others. Thanks and Great Video!!

    I'm learning a lot about video recording by watching your videos, but it's at this point making me (more) aware of how much I don't know. What I do know is audio recording of vocals and guitar into my UAD Apollo Twin MKII Quad (with Console software and various UAD plug-ins), aided by a UAD Faderport, with outs to my studio monitors. I've checked on the UAD boards and just generally googling, and haven't found anything about using this set-up for audio and integrating it with video. Do you know if this is possible? Thanks!

  • @mobilechaosyt

    I don’t understand why the decided to limit the goxlr devices to one xlr jack. Due to this I’m leaning toward getting the Rodecaster pro especially since they have the built in filters per channel. I might not need 4 microphones, but I typically need at least 2 microphone inputs.

Would you consider doing a review of the Shure SM57 dynamic mic? The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on the Mini for right now is the fact of the issue with the app/software not saving the settings that you've applied past app closures & or PC restarts, reboots or shutdowns. 😞 😒
    However, with that being said, if at some point in 2020 they were to roll out an overhaul or update to the app/software which solves the aforementioned problem I'd buy one in a heartbeat. 😄

    I ordered the GoXLR mini last week and this video was great! current setup is a Procaster -> DBX286S -> UMC202HD -> Headphones & Studio Speakers. • @EposVox
      @EposVox  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could take the 202's line out into the line in on the mini. But that'd get pretty ridiculous, you'd possibly run into USB driver latency issues as described, and most of the functionality of the mini would not be utilized. Would make more sense to replace the 286s and 202hd outright

    • @agsoren
      @agsoren 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EposVox I appreciate the reply! All i'm worried about is that I'm gonna lose de-essing from the dbx286s + zero latency voice monitoring and speaker output from the 202hd. I guess it's still possible to use the DBX282s -> goXLR mini for additional tweaking and de-essing, before entering the goXLR. Do you think that would be a worthwhile chain to have audio wise? I have burning desire to find out the answer to my question and wasn't successful by Googling nor asking so far. I need an audio interface/mixer for my xlr mic and I really like the little brother of the goxlr, which is called the goxlr mini. (Fits well within my budget and takes up less space, etc) but the manual of it does state that the phantom power only provides a 24 volt punch as it draws power from the USB of the PC. Knowing that I have a safety belt of gain with a cloudlifter like the CL1 would make me feel at ease, but I'm unsure right now whether the 24 volts would actually be able to power it, also unsure whether a pluged in monitoring mic would further cause issues or any performance decrease when it comes to the performance of the cl. Would you be so kind to confirm the validity of my fears or dismiss them?

    Hey Adam - Super review... Ready to pull the trigger but i would love to know if it's possible and how to add Pre Recorded Sound Clips / Intro/Outtro to a recording with the Mini? Thanks

      EposVox that works with the mini, it doesn’t seem to have a sampler at least physically on it. you mentioned a folder
      Debating on this one! Would be nice to be able to put a 2nd mic via XLR for guitar, looks like it would have to be done via 3.5mm
      I also only use my mic and system audio, no discord/party chat (though having separate volume for alerts is nice, supposed to have that in OBS but it doesn’t seem to be working great for me)
      I also use speakers!

    Hi there.
    I take meditations etc over zoom and want to go from usb to xlr. I found it hard in the past to get the right volume levels to go with my voice and wonder if this is something that will work as I would like to keep my voice as rich as possible.
    I also plan to do voice overs too.
    Best wishes ☺️

    Uhh it looks like my Yamaha AG03 and Voicemeeter had a baby :D
    And that could be a valid alternative for my setup, but Voicemeeter has VBAN which is super convenient for dual streaming PC setup which I currently use

      You could use NDI plugins to send Video and Audio from one PC to another over your network :-)

      @@EposVox Thanks for the prompt reply!! I think what I'll do as the GOXLR bigger one is just £235 currently, I'll give it a go, then if it doesn't suit me, I can just return to Amamzon. I
      s there a simple way I can listen to music so I hear it louder than my viewers can? I already have a 'safe' level which all can enjoy, but sometimes it'd be nice if I could hear it louder at times?

    My struggle with the GOXLR is they are just a USB interface with fancy software, it has nearly no analog features, so it's just VST for people who don't know audio stuff

    • @EposVox
      @EposVox  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I mean, it's not VST. It's hardware DSP processing.
      It's not an analog mixer, no.

    Hi, I'm considering one of these for voice recording because of one of the EQ and Compressor. Does it typically have a better preamp than a Tascam interface?

    • @CJ-uh8bk
      @CJ-uh8bk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TVperson1 yeah definitely better then one of those, the best way to choose between the mini and the regular is one do you have enough money for the regular GOXLR and do you need the sampler and voice effects, if you don’t care about them get the Mini, both have the same pre-amps that are great, got my mini about 2 weeks ago and I’m pretty happy with it

    • @TVperson1
