Another thing that could be done for streamers with a dual-pc setup is to actually buy two of the GoXLR (original or mini or mixed). Have the line-ins and line-outs feed into each other, and use either one respectively into each PC. This way you just have ultimate control of all sound within both PCs. For Example: Gaming PC - Game Audio // Line In (streaming pc) // Voice Chat // Mic Volume Streaming PC - Desktop Audio // Music // Alerts // Mic Volume (for secondary mic) The mini could actually be an upgrade path for those who already own the original GoXLR, and want even more control without making things too difficult. I think that's the beauty behind these products.
Elgato needs to make a competitor here, neither of the GoXLR's or the Rodecasters offer what Elgato can bring to the table, which is exactly what the other companies offer but with: customization The ability to have a small touchscreen displaying whatever you want above dials or faders is what we need. Elgato will bring one to the table and it will be the best, only a matter of time
at the price id rather pick up a 4 channel XLR mixer from Yamaha and use that with a streamdeck/ Mini to control any Virtual voice synth modules id be sacrificing features and space but saving a lot on the old wallet for more inputs for the afformentioned podcast or Multi Mic setups

Faaaantastic video. Exactly what I needed. Liked. QUick question. Did you try this with the SM7b WITH Cloudlifter and then into the GoXLR/GoXLR Mini? Do you get a better, same, or degraded sound with the Cloudlifter? Thanks.
I'd love to see an actual 8 channel GoXLR with 100% customizable channels and motorized faders and two Microphone Inputs. Also i'd like to have the feature of fading the channels i'm muting instead of muting them instantly. It should be no problem, with motorized faders in the first place. I'm perfectly aware, that this would be hellish expensive, but this would be everything, ANY streamer could ever dream of.
So one thing that I’m unclear on is, if everything is done on the hardware, why is the software required? Id like more transparency on that, as it seems clear from past experiences, the software can leave you without a microphone.

@@bigostream5979 Sounds really great, the Mic that I use with it is Shure SM7B. The mute buttons are just so easy to use while you gaming or streaming so you don't have to tab out to do so. Not an ideal interface for musical production I assume cos it's lack of related setting or effects.

I know this is an old video, but just wanted to say it was very informative. I have ordered the goxlr mini and was wondering if I was losing out by not buying the bigger version as it seems I am losing the gimmick features such as voice effects, sample pads and motorised faders, I am very happy with my choice. I dont need any of those I just was a simple audio solution for my mic and stream. Thanks for the video!
I am seriously thinking about getting the Mini at $250. $400 is kind of a step price for a channel my size on top of buying a XLR mic. With the mini I can get both the Mini and an AT2020 for same price as the original GO XLR. Great video and explanation of both products.
To be a bit fair, unless you have a terrible room or mic, you barely need even 3 bands of EQ. I mean, even with the basic bitch ''broadcast'' sound (80hz low cut, 80 hz boost, 250 hz cut, 8khz boost, 16khz high cut) you have plenty of bands left. I am surprised that they even bothered having it different on the smaller one. The de-esser is a bit of a shame tho. Seems like no reason not to have it since the DSP chip is the same.
I was originally pumped about a go XLR mini, but when they cut it and half - they kept the wrong half. I was really hoping for an FX focused device, hoping to just have a unit with the FX control, presets, and a true dry pass through. Guess i'll just have to wait :( I JUST WANT A VOICE FX DEVICE WITH A CRAP TON OF PRESET BUTTONS!
You've expanded what you do to include a podcast now. So what would you recommend to someone who has a podcast, streams, and is looking to add TH-cam as well?
I don’t blame you for not care much about the motorized faders. After all, the GOXLR didn’t exactly make good use of them. They were more or less just a gimmick to let you see, when you mute a channel. If they made actually programmable sequences available, like fading certain channels over 2 seconds on time while raising others and combine it with saved ending states for each mode activated, would have been a major deal. Like this, the motorized faders are indeed just a gimmick. Also, I miss Dual XLR or TLS connectors for the line in and out or even better the possibility of combining both devices on a driver level to use them as one giant device. I think this device sadly is but a giant set of gimmicks, Not really fleshed out professional streaming gear.
The original price was $200, but with import tariffs in the U.S. it was priced at $250. The preamp and DSP are the most expensive parts on GoXLR. I we only sold the preamp as an audio interface it would be $100 at our lowest margin.
Thank you for confirming. Now they cut the price massively and still for the same whopping $250 you can just get a proper xlr mixer, which has better hardware in them so they can drive all the mics without problems and get all the features, which are missing from the Mini and have more than 1 XLR input. Thank you for confirming that this hardware is just overhyped and the popularity is coming from aggressive money-sinking in marketing and paying a lot of people to hype it and force people into thinking... oh this and that is using it, so it must be good value. Same as with the Blue microphones, people are just getting them, because people are paid to spread hype on them, but otherwise you can get way better microphones for exact same price or maybe even cheaper.
I wish I would have known this prior to getting a Cloudlifter and an Icicle USB-XLR adapter. I use the Shure SM7B. 6:18 So, just a note. I have the mini, and it does not, in fact, shut off when i turn off my Pc. It still somehow gets power though the BUS and keeps the lights powered on. Ive tried several usb ports (just to make sure it wasnt in one that was always powered) and it didnt make a difference *when plugging directly into the motherboard*.

In your video, you had both versions of go xlr turned on at the same time, does her software reconnect both of them on? Do the channels and routing of go xlr Mini appear in the mixer?
You forgot to mention the GOXLR uses DSP but without the on-board ability to control the functions of Analog Processing. If the software fails or crashes, there's no way to control your effect parameters outside of what is set prior to the crash/volume sliders. The bottom sampler is all digital as well meaning you can't use that area without the software. You also are downscaling audio quality by using a line 3.5mm output. For $400, this product is not even close to being worth that much money. I assume they are over pricing this since no one else is really selling streamer specific audio gear or "software" I should say. Due to it's heavy use of software compatibility, you could basically do all of this with voicemeter which is free.
@James Turk I see you get easily offended by words. I do have an audio degree and I don't expect everyone to want to understand the faults of something that their favorite streamer uses. An easy google search will show that the numbers you presented in your reply are all inaccurate and I'd like for you to educate me on how a line out jack 3.5mm cable has better audio quality than front load DCA? Providing false information will get you no where in life, young man.
Out of all the comments, how is this one of the few that are actually criticizing this thing? As of March 2020, it’s gone up to $500. The software is a huge limitation. The effects do not sound like they are done through hardware. Everyone claiming it’s all done through hardware. Yet the whole thing relies on the software? I think a healthy dose of suspicion and criticism is important.
You honestly can't go wrong with that mic, man! That is what I used before I upgraded to the SM7B and a board. You can always use a free equalizer software when using a USB mic to make your voice sound even better! Just Google search "Equalizer APO Download" and "PEACE Download". :)
The GoXLR mini doesn't offer the De-Esser option like the original GoXLR. If you know of a way we can enable it on the software or a workaround that would really help.
Great video Pete! Had to go for a rewatch, I don't think the GO XLR is the tool for me for my stream. I think it would be good if at least the full size GO XLR had speaker/studio monitor outputs, weather it be RCA or 1/4 inch Jack.
Voice Meeter literately has MIDI functionality built in. so if you already use Audio Meeter and have a USB interface you can buy a cheap $50 Akai midimix and map the fadders and buttons to whatever you want.
Would it be a better option to use a cable like this: Cable Matters (1/8 Inch) 3.5mm to XLR Cable (XLR to 3.5mm Cable) Male to Male 10 Feet to use with my existing blue yeti mic to a goxlr mini or should I just use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable?
GuNStArHeRo there is a company in the UK selling the full size GOXLR for £235 it also comes with free international shipping. I got mine from them after returning a MG10XU as it just wasn't for me. If you want a link let me know.
Peaks unfortunately the shop went into liquidation because of covid-19 so only have the current stock they don't have any GOXLR left. If you have a vpn the amazon UK price is the same as the company I got it from. If no vpn just do. . Co. UK
DO you recommend this - you can not only use USB microphones like this (Blue Yeti) but then you have the option to additionally over time get an XLR microphone and plug it in this bad boy. The GoXLR Mini is $429AUD here. I just bought an Elgato Keylight for my Logitech C920 - in the future hopefully a Sony a5100 Mirrorless however it's $500+. Also need a new second monitor (mainly looking for a portrait panel but don't mind) and my chair is scuffed. Could also replace my current fans and upgrade from 1st gen ryzen and upgrade storage. Temptations..
I got a question, so my mic is a USB mic, or the only input to my computer from it is through a USB port. Is there anyway I can use this product without buying another cable?
I am doing a livestream video podcast with six people, and use a Zoom L8 for my mixer. I am looking for a sound effects processor for one mic, but curious about how the XLR mic would output from the GoXLR and into the Zoom L8 XLR input. Since the GoXLR doesn’t have an XLR output, will it connect to the Zoom L8 mixer?
so my setup right now is a tonor q9 usb mic honestly for me it just seems terrible in discord and i've played with settings alot to try and make it better. It essentially is always too quiet or cuts me off mid sentence. I'm looking to upgrade to XLR for better audio control; what I'm thinking of getting is the Rode Podmic and XLR mini, I'm not a streamer by any means but i do stream my game and chat in a discord channel with some buddies. Would this be a worth it upgrade?
I wonder. I have a Shure SM7B. But I already have a gen 1 Scalrlett 2i2 and a Cloud Lifter. I have VST PLugins for OBS, but do you think I should buy this and just sell the other two parts used?
I bought the mini. Then noticed how cable management is a nightmare with the mic and headphone inputs are in the front. So I upgraded to the GOXLR and I can't be happier, based solely off cable management
can somebody explain the purpose of the mini? i dont see why i should spend a premium on this over an audio interface or any other usb mixing board. i'm not trying to sound cheap or rude, i just dont understand. i have a background in audio recording so routing those sources isn't a problem for me
Ditch the motorized sliders as that is just something that will eventually go out and ditch the effects but the loss of the icons for the four sliders is bummer.
Did I get your question right? You already have a regular GoXLR and you wanna buy the mini to add a second mic to your setup? At that point you are probably better off buying an audio interface like the Steinberg UR22 or the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 and save a hundred bucks :p
Yuzuki1337 how about using a splitter? I’m sure it won’t be the cleanest but for situations I think it would do decently? I’m not sure if it would be an issue one mic being Phantom powered and the other one not needed, But I agree with the audio interfaces, those are a lot better if you’re going for multiple people mics in one set up. These products caught my attention specially for my podcast side of things but it just had one XLR input, having the scarlet 2nd gen does the job fine a long with the rodecaster-pro for multiple microphones set up gets the job done as well
@@The_Guth I have no real experience with using splitters on phantom-powered mics so I am not sure on that one but a decent splitter should be even more expensive than an interface, right?
@@The_Guth That seems sketchy at best, I agree it might work but I assume there is a reason why multi-input interfaces are way more widespread than setups with splitter cables :)

goxlr mini has 24v phantom power lol and with fethead or cloudlifter u get way lower noise lvl and now de esser on mini and pre amps on both are decent not amazing they are just midas preamps u can find on cheap audio products ids say main reason was to buy one for routing and fades for different audio channels but now that feature u can also find on the beacn mix create and u can use any interface with it so if u want to upgrade the interface u are using u can and not lose those features although i must say for 150 euros in germany u cant find another product with that many functions so if u are on a budget id say goxlr mini or focusrite solo if u intend to later get a beacn
The one thing that's missing on BOTH of them for me, is proper TRS outs for speakers. This is the one thing that's preventing me from getting a GoXLR, because I wanted it to be the only audio thing on my desk, and just for this reason, I'd have to keep my Big Knob and go from the GoXLR to it via one stereo TRS cable which is not too bad, and it's also kinda nice having the big knob controlling the speakers and with its own mute button, but... I'd like to be able to do this from one thing. Like for example, the GoXLR could have a 'page' function, if it's a digital mixer, then there's nothing to say it can't have unlimited channels with those 4 faders, yeah? :-)
can you control game chat, separately from game volume with the goxlr mini? same question with discord. i have some friends who are still on console so we will probably be using game chat a lot, and i would like to be able to easily quiet them down when needed, would this help or is there another product thats better suited for the job?

I didn't know this existed when I was looking for a mic setup. I ended up getting the AT2020USB+ and I really really like it.
You honestly can't go wrong with that mic, man! That is what I used before I upgraded to the SM7B and a board. You can always use a free equalizer software when using a USB mic to make your voice sound even better! Just Google search "Equalizer APO Download" and "PEACE Download". :)
is the application necessary because I will use a macbook?
The GoXLR mini doesn't offer the De-Esser option like the original GoXLR. If you know of a way we can enable it on the software or a workaround that would really help.
Great video Pete! Had to go for a rewatch, I don't think the GO XLR is the tool for me for my stream.
I think it would be good if at least the full size GO XLR had speaker/studio monitor outputs, weather it be RCA or 1/4 inch Jack.
Thank you for this video, you answered so many of my questions, and saved me $10 lol
Voice Meeter literately has MIDI functionality built in. so if you already use Audio Meeter and have a USB interface you can buy a cheap $50 Akai midimix and map the fadders and buttons to whatever you want.
Voicemeter is shit though. Always plays up
@@lordPix3lUK indded it does. i have my eye on the new stream deck. a good audio interface with the new stream deck is all i need.
3.5 to 3.5
Awesome video, very helpful and exactly what I needed to know! Well done, HSC sent me your way! Thank you so much!
My future setup will be the goxlr mini - dt770 pros - shure mv7x (xlr) will all of these work together? Please lmk
What about the Phantom Power? I read that the Mini just has 24V and the big one 48? So I can't plug in a rode nt1a to the Mini?
One question, is the GoXLR mini good or ok for non streamers, I have a SM7b and idk if a goxlr mini is overkill just to discord and games
Does the Go xlr Mini Support 48V Phantom Power for the Rode NT1-A
Got one of full size GoXLR’s in my basket, here’s hoping for a wee discord this weekend. Great vid, great info!
i hear you i'm also waiting for a discount. it's going for $500 at the moment.
GuNStArHeRo there is a company in the UK selling the full size GOXLR for £235 it also comes with free international shipping. I got mine from them after returning a MG10XU as it just wasn't for me. If you want a link let me know.
@@flapjack_matt1304 whats the site
Peaks unfortunately the shop went into liquidation because of covid-19 so only have the current stock they don't have any GOXLR left. If you have a vpn the amazon UK price is the same as the company I got it from. If no vpn just do. . Co. UK
i agree i need another XL input i have a 4 xlr input shure mixer it would have been perfect and a blue tooth button as well.
Как я знаю, данная карта имеет выход, который можно подключить к вашему zoom, знаю не актуально...
so my setup right now is a tonor q9 usb mic honestly for me it just seems terrible in discord and i've played with settings alot to try and make it better.
I really wish the Motorized sliders where in the mini
In the future can you do a comparison video between the GO XLR and the Rode Caster Pro
I wonder. I have a Shure SM7B. But I already have a gen 1 Scalrlett 2i2 and a Cloud Lifter. I have VST PLugins for OBS, but do you think I should buy this and just sell the other two parts used?
I would still use the cloudlifter even though you don't need it necessarily. Extra gain doesn't hurt, as you can just turn the gain down.
Hi, I noticed that the Mimi model has a USB2 connection. Does it work with a computer that only has USB3-contacts?
I bought the mini. Then noticed how cable management is a nightmare with the mic and headphone inputs are in the front. So I upgraded to the GOXLR and I can't be happier, based solely off cable management
how much ram and processing does it use?
Would you recommend the goXLR Mini or the Yamaha MG10XU?
ive got the mg10xu and the pre amps arent the best, a cloudlifter or a dbx 286s is needed so the gain on the mg10xu aint maxed out.
@@MultiPhreshness i got the Procaster with the dbx 286s and mg10xuf and I couldn't be happier! only thing I miss is a wider variety of Effects :D
dude this video helped so much man, THANK YOUUUU!!!!
can somebody explain the purpose of the mini? i dont see why i should spend a premium on this over an audio interface or any other usb mixing board. i'm not trying to sound cheap or rude, i just dont understand. i have a background in audio recording so routing those sources isn't a problem for me
Ditch the motorized sliders as that is just something that will eventually go out and ditch the effects but the loss of the icons for the four sliders is bummer.
I'm just getting into code streaming, I bought the mini yesterday and find out today that it won't work on my Mac. I'm ever so slightly disappointed.
was it a issue with the operating system on the mac?
@@genndybyrd not a supported os
Could you please do a best mixer amps video from lowest to highest price
does the goxlr mini have a different amp for headphones and mic?
Is it too much to ask for both
It basically all depends on if $250 is worth your fun time with the voice effects. Short answer....YES! lol
Doi you mean $400? Because that's how much the original costs. And the mini which is $250 has no voice effects
@@Tongys No, the mini is $249 and the Reg one is $499, that's $250. Hooked on phonics worked for me =)
Great video definitely tempted by the mini
Can you just use the MINI as a work-around for having a 2nd XLR mic if you need two?
Yuzuki1337 oh I was talking about getting a decent XLR splitter cable, I haven’t tried it myself but it’s a possibility
@@The_Guth That seems sketchy at best, I agree it might work but I assume there is a reason why multi-input interfaces are way more widespread than setups with splitter cables :)
can you change bass etc on the go xlr mini like you can with the astro mix amp (astro command centre) i’m looking to get astro id custom headset but can’t decide between the go xlr mini or the astro mix amp?
Can you use the goxlr and the stream deck with one pc
hey i really want a audio mixer whit voice changer and god i use the røde podmic i have about 70-100 can you recomend any?
There is a lot of noise when connecting two PC. How to handle this?
wait so i cant use if i have a usb headset and a usb mic?
I wonder if you can daisy chain the mini to the original for an additional 4 channels.
Yeah you can, but you can only have 1 connected to a pc, so you can use 2 if u have 2 pc's (1 connected to your gaming pc 1 connected to your streaming pc if u run that setup)
Yet another very informative video!
wish it only had the sampler and voice changer, all the sound stuff can just be changed on the pc itself
Excellent video 👌🏻
Late to party so doubt this will be answered, does a headphone with two 3.5 mm cables (mic and headphones) able to take advantage of the amp in the xlr mini? Or only headphones with one 3.5mm?
goxlr mini has 24v phantom power lol and with fethead or cloudlifter u get way lower noise lvl and now de esser on mini and pre amps on both are decent not amazing they are just midas preamps u can find on cheap audio products ids say main reason was to buy one for routing and fades for different audio channels but now that feature u can also find on the beacn mix create and u can use any interface with it so if u want to upgrade the interface u are using u can and not lose those features although i must say for 150 euros in germany u cant find another product with that many functions so if u are on a budget id say goxlr mini or focusrite solo if u intend to later get a beacn
Yes you can
can u have autotune and Eco on the goxlr mini and can I use it even if my mic and headphones is conect to my pc?
