Don't listen to the other streamers trying to clickbait you. The GoXLR isn't dead. The TCHelicon Denmark team released new software for the GoXLR on June 3rd, 2024. They included submixes in the new update and managed to fit new features into the software. TC Helicon also revealed they're working on a GoXLR 2!
To anyone reading this - TC Helicon just laid off all their Canadian employees who were in charge of the software development. I'm reserving judgment on the GoXLR until TC Helicon releases statements on if they will continue the software development. Hopefully this unit does not enter "end of life". I'll post any updates here and on my twitter. Hopefully TC Helicon can rebound and still support this product.
This is also normal for us in professional audio. The GoXLR is far from dead because of the Midas preamps in my opinion. It's just the accompany support software for it, definitely throws a wrench, but I don't see it completely abandoned yet. Unless TC-Helicon is having internal issues with business and the company.
It’s still a fantastic piece of hardware. TC Helicon said they have no plans to stop the development of their gaming tech. I 100% agree with you. I think they’ll eventually continue support but I predict most likely they’ll outsource the software development.
I think they’re still worth. I’ve had zero problems with mine even after the lay off. I say go for it dude! And thanks for the reminder, I should probably update this pinned comment
@@TheRageAcademy I am by far a big shot lol. But I appreciate the compliment. Took 7 years to hit 100k for me. So my advise to give back to you, don't stick to a niche mod for a single game like I did 😆 Keep doing that you are doing as it has a broader base. Hang in there, the YT algorithm is finicky but you are already on the right track.
I wanted to stop myself from getting a GoXLR after the announcement of them laying of the software team, but the fact it allows usage of USB mics... Thank you for the awesome review video!
You're welcome man. I think they may of announced that they have a new team for the software... I could be wrong though. I don't think TC Helicon lets this flagship product die. All other TH-camr's just want those clicks. I can tell you, I've been using it reliably ever since this video was posted. All my audio runs through this unit for my videos and I've experienced zero issues or difficulties
Bro what's your mic settings like EQ, Etc. I have the same mic and just got my GoXLR, your mic sounds amazing and would like to achieve that sound. Great vid btw!
Thanks man! I actually leave everything neutral with no effects when I film. I add all my effects in post in Adobe premiere. I’ll add a denoise at 15%, low pass, high pass, and I’ll pull the mids by 3-5 db ranging from around 1k-3k. I’ll give a small bump around 100hz and around 15khz. Then I slap a hard limiter on for -6db and call it a day You can do this in the GoXLR but I choose to do it in post to have more creative control in case I want to do something different
Yeah! I actually run my guitar through an AXEFX, then I feed the input into the GOXLR. I turn the master volume up and down in the GOXLR software. I’ll use it to play with backing tracks or to record into Adobe Premiere
so i do have an audio interface but kinda sucks it connects my guitar with my audio so i do need the Go XLR But i dont know if i should be spending more money into an AXEFX dont know if thats another mixer or something tbh xD@@TheRageAcademy
There’s a few different ways to get your audio through the AXEFX. I wouldn’t recommend it as a standalone instrument interface though. You may be better off with something like the Scarlett 2i2
There is a compressor with adjustable threshold, ratio, attack, release, and make-up gain You can tweak the eq between 31hz to 16k hz on 10 adjustable bands BUT you can only use the compressor and eq on the microphone. You would have to use another piece of software to eq Windows
Do you ever have audio cutouts? I have the latest software from their discord, uninstalled and reinstalled, replaced cable, tried different usb ports. I wish TC didn’t lay off their employees and kill support. As someone who uses it with an ER20, I like it. For the price, I would just get a Beacn mix create (the team that made the GoXlr) and a stream deck. Then add any voice effect from voicemod to the streamdeck if that’s a concern.
@@TheRageAcademy So it’s all audio. Like music, game, TH-cam. Anything I can hear from the pc. It’s like a few milliseconds of drop. If it didn’t happen so frequently and happened every once in a while, I’d probably not notice. However, it’s just like audio cut out for .05-1 second. 10 seconds fine. Rinse and repeat.
@@Motornationz Ahhhh, I think i know what the problem is my dude. Type "sound" into windows search and open Windows "Sound Settings". You should see the boxes "Playback" "Record" "Sounds" and "Communications"> In the playback tab, you should see one of these devices with a green check mark next to it. Sorry it took so long to respond. 1. There’s no distortion feature 2. The GoXLR needs to be hooked up to a computer and connected to the software to function correctly
Only reason i want this thing is for the sampler so i can record my trash talking friends and playback what they just said. Tho i would be open to other easy to use sampler suggestions if there are any.
@@andreaswil7799 to do that you would need a program called banana meter to segregate your discord audio from your mic audio/game audio (it im understanding correctly) If you don’t want the channels all to be separate OBS can record everything mixed down to one channel (mic, game, and discord)
Can this be used as a regular music mixer? I like mixer. It just look antiquated and out of style. I do karaoke gigs, and I typically run 4 microphones. Would this work for that? Thanks for any answers!
Unfortunately it’s only 1 xlr input and you can really use it as a gig mixer. If you’re looking for something with style like the Goxlr and want four separate inputs and dedicated faders, I think you would need something like the rode rodcaster pro
Should work. XLR has input/output routes and a mix console. Are you looking to game on console, have discord of pc and stream from laptop? What’s the signal chain setup?
Thanks for replying! Close but not quite. When I play games on my PS5 I usualy listen to podcasts or videos on youtube and I'm wondering if I can get the audio from both my PS5 and PC when I do it. Thank's in advance
@koolkendrick2554 that setup should work. The GoXLR has a dedicated console optical input, and a 1/8 inch input. So you should be able to feed it your laptop input and console input. You should be able to use the mixer and send all three devices to your headphones. You’ll have to setup the software correctly, but I’m like 95% sure it’s completely doable
