    I just discovered your channel yesterday. The Vagus nerve face/neck massage seems to work good. Your whole presence transmits a beautiful energy, a lot of security, and "loving kindness". I guess that's a sign that these disciplines work well. Now with the pendulation video I'm discovering many little hidden aches and pains all over my body. Thank you.

    Hi Emily, I just discovered your channel today, as I was searching for an SE resource to share with a friend. You have a beautiful, calm, regulated presence. I just wanted to share gratitude for your willingness to share your wisdom and skillful guidance in such an accessible way. I'm also working with some chronic pain, so I just watched your titration and pendulation videos for working with pain and they were so helpful!

    This worked actually! Or at least the pain felt less present and ominous

    Thank you so much for sharing this! I’ve been searching forever for info on how to feel my chronic pain, but like you said, it’s so overwhelming that most of the time it’s just automatic to try to push it away. I did still struggle with this exercise though, because the pain is everywhere. It feels like there is no border, no periphery. Only areas that hurt less than others. So I feel like I’m just searching my whole body for where the pain ends and never finding it. Is that what I should be doing with this? Like will that still be helpful if I keep doing it?

      Hi there! Thank you so much for commenting and asking this question. I am happy to share my thoughts with you. First, you could try to titrate feeling the pain by bringing curiosity to the "least painful" area of your body. Usually when we explore unpleasant sensations in Somatic Experiencing, we start with the most tolerable or LEAST unpleasant sensations. Secondly, you could explore titrating feeling the edges of your body itself - like feeling into the area where your back rests agains the chair, or the line of gravity connecting your thighs to your seat. This can be a more tolerable way to start to feel the body, when the whole body hurts. Third, if the pain is too great and you are in overwhelm, somatic exercises may not provide relief; they only go so far, and in some cases we may find greater benefit from medical interventions to bring us out of injury or overwhelm. Finally, feel free to reach out to me if you'd like a 15 minute consult to see if a one-on-one Somatic Experiencing might be a good fit! My contact is emily@emilywintersep.com.

      @@EmilyWinterSE I truly appreciate you taking the time to respond so thoughtfully and thoroughly! That all sounds so helpful! And you’re right, I am definitely in need of medical interventions as well. Unfortunately I’ve been struggling with getting access to the care I need for insurance/financial reasons. So I’m looking forward to trying some of these things you suggested in the meantime! Thank you so much!

      I hear you on the healthcare access issue and I’m sorry you’re facing that. I hope you find some relief here on TH-cam and using other resources. My next video I plan to post is another good exercise for chronic pain so I’ll tag it here when I upload it.

    Hi, I was wondering if you could do a video for body clenching. I used to suffer with severe fibromyalgia pain and as I am super sensitive, I developed a habit of clenching the whole of my body. I've tried for so long to get help for this, but as I was trapped in such a severe and highly distressing cycle, I was describing my habit as 'severe body tension and being unable to get grounded '. It sort of is this, but I feel like I'm clenching every single cell in my body, as opposed to just certain areas. I need some help to come out of this. Thank you ❤

      Thanks for this great idea. I will add this to my list and tag you when I create the video. In the meantime I would suggest you look up progressive muscle relaxation. Best wishes!

    Does this work for migraine?

    • @EmilyWinterSE
      @EmilyWinterSE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Migraines can be challenging to work with; depending on the severity, it may be overwhelming for a person to bring any amount of awareness into the body during a migraine episode. It also may depend on the cause of the migraine. I would invite you to try it out on your own and see if it feels tolerable or manageable; if it's too overwhelming, that's a sign from your body that this isn't the right tool for that moment. Best wishes!
