  • Dexcom G6. The newest generation of Dexcoms Continous Glucose Monitor. I decided to purchase G6 starter pack to see how it works and compare it against my daily CGM set up. I hope that you enjoy this video with my first insertion. I have a lot of G6 content planned so stay tuned.
    5:45 -INSETION MOMENT
    7:00 -TRANSMITTER INSERTION
    THIS VIDEO IS NOT SPONSORED BY DEXCOM. I PAID FOR THIS G6 MYSELF AS I WANT TO GIVE YOU MY OWN, TOTALLY UNBIAS OPINION. ALSO I DON'T HAVE ANY RELATIONSHIP WITH DEXCOM
    Also, I would like to apologise for the issues with my audio in this video. I would normally just re-record it if it was any other video but I don't want to do it with my first insertion as I want it to be my actual first insertion. I PROMISE THAT MY AUDIO WILL BE MUCH BETTER IN MY FUTURE VIDEOS.

    Guys. I have to admit, I kind of regret having done for the Medtronic 670G as it doesn't allow me to set my own BG targets, but wants to decide for me. However, I"m luckily able to maintain an A1C of 5.7-6% with some ingenuity, but I want to thank nerdabetic for all the juicy tidbits. I hope you increase your videos as I think you can really have the best diabetes oriented tech channel on the web. No other diabetic on TH-cam does what you're doing.

      Omg thank you so so much for this incredible comment, you have just made by week. 😊😍 I am so happy that you enjoy my diabetes technology content. This is exactly why I started this channel in the first place because I couldn’t find help myself when it comes to tech and so here we are 😊☺️ and second gen of 670G ( one with Bluetooth) might have that function ☺️😊

    Nerdabetic, please keep the videos coming more frequently. You're my favorite diabetes tech-related channel to tune to. Question, how do you find the Dexcom G6 accuracy compared to the Libre? Are you experiencing better experiences with it versus the Libre with Loop? I did hear that the European Libre is considerably cheaper than the G6 and doesn't require a prescription. Still struggling to maintain an A1C under 5.8% but can manage 5.7-6.0%. Question, have you had a chance to research the Bionic Pancreas built by Beta Bionics? This will be the 1st dual-hormonal system coming to market that should prevent us T1Ds from hitting hypoglycemia 99% of the time. Also, if you want to talk about biological technologies look into a company called Viacyte and their PEC-Direct implant which creates insulin and hormones that your body can live with.

      @Nerdabetic  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I will try my best to upload regularly but it is very difficult to do regular youtube videos, university, private life and youtube. But I am trying my best for you 😅🤩😀. And Dexcom G6 accuracy is very good but i will discuss that in detail in my comparison video. I do a lot of comparisons on my Instagram so i would definitely recommend following me there. And i know Bionic Pancreas by Beta Bionics very well and i have talked about it on my diabetes technology report. I absolutely can't wait to see that product in real life. And i haven't heard of Viacyte but will catch up. Already followed them on Twitter. Thanks so much for that mention 😅😄 I hope that you are doing fine. Kamil 😀

    • @MrStephantch
      @MrStephantch 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Viacyte is the one stem-cell therapy that will cure us T1Ds in the future, which consists of a credit card sized implant that incorporates beta progenitor cells in the millions. The device mesh consists of nanopolymer material with small pores that prevent your immune system from rejecting the tissue. The implant produces insulin and glucagon and needs to be replaced every three years. It's the one technology that will cure us for a while, and allow us to live technology/artificial insulin free lives. You're at the forefront of the technology, and like you I know that we T1Ds cannot manage our disease without the accuracy of close-loop systems.

    When you compare to the Libre, please do a cost comparison also. I believe the Dexcom one is just to expensive unless your insurance covers most of it.

    Nerdabetic, how are you? I'm one of your biggest fans. I wish you made videos on a daily basis as I can't wait to watch them. Quick question, why did you get rid of the Freestyle Libre? Wasn't that a more effective and cheaper option with your DIY loop system? Also, what is your longstanding A1C? My guess is you're probably maintaining a consistent 5.5% I can maintain an A1C between 5.5-6%.

    • @Nerdabetic
      @Nerdabetic  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I am very very well. OMG, you are so so sweet. And I didn't get rid of it. I am using 3 G6 sensors to see if I like it. I still haven't made a decision about switching over to G6 full time. And libre with M is definitely cheaper. And it is about 52 🤫

    • @MrStephantch
      @MrStephantch 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nerd, that is an excellent A1C - you are an inspiration to us all. I wasn't aware of Loop and OpenAPS at the time so I'm now firmly embedded in the 670G ecosystem. It isn't a perfect setup like Loop as Medtronic wants us to have a more liberal range of up to 180 mg/dl. However, I made some modifications so I'm able to maintain an A1C of about 5.7% on average after a few months of experimenting. Also, I liked your video on FIASP insulin and I agree it might be a little too potent for us to use. I myself am on Humalog and it's working perfectly for me. I've discovered that I'm highly sensitive to insulin and use no more than 25 units daily. FYI. I can't wait for the dual hormonal glucagon/and insulin mix systems to be out as that way we won't have to result to eating candy/sugar to bring up our sugar's. Anyway, in two years you won't need a pump as Viacyte should be on the way.

    799us vs 110us for libre (3 sensors and reader) I cannot justify the expensive of the Dexcom in our market and my libre is accurate to 2mmgdl of my finger stick

    Nerdabetic, you definitely have the perfect A1C with a 5.2 as mine. Well, I can only maintain a 5.7/5.8%. Are you going to give up on FIASP insulin and strictly stick with Humalog? I'm currently only using 21 units of insulin on a daily basis.
