    Hey folks, welcome to the 4th Cut-Rate Commander First Impressions, a hopefully reoccurring series where I and my editor and co-host Kaprak will go over the newly released commander precons for upcoming sets. I'll be going in (almost) completely blind - maybe knowing who the face commander is, but being unaware of the contents of the deck itself, while Kaprak provided a curated list of all the new cards, reprints, and other cards contained in the set for me to get my unscripted reactions.
    Please let me know if you enjoy content like this in the comments to see if this is something worth continuing in the future. Thanks!

    Hearing your regular voice is SOOO much better than hearing the intonation cadence that you put on to every sentence in your pre-scripted videos. That rise at the end of the sentence or whatever it is gets very grating in my opinion. I really appreciate the videos you make, it's just that hearing your un-scripted voice shows me how "extra" and unnecessary the cadence is in the other videos.

    Don't change a thing in my opinion, the format yall do this in is great and straightforward. The commentary is also entertaining from both view points. Hope to see these more when bloomburrow comes around.

    This deck feels more nostalgia-bait than a cohesive strategy. I am excited to build around the secondary commander though

    Like I said I much prefer your natural voice here and the disagreements you have with your co hosts on cards only make everything more natural instead of that podcast-like "jerking each other off for 1 hour while talking really upclose to expensive mics"
    Good job!

    I think Disa as a goyf commander is a trap, but going all in on the tarmogoyf tokens sounds like a solid strategy to me (at least as a fun casual commander). I would essentially ignore the first ability and build the deck around combat tricks and some self-mill synergies so the goyf tokens are respectable. But I also think that the pre-con list lacks a coherent strategy and leaves a lot to be desired

    • @DoNotPassGO
      @DoNotPassGO 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Anything as a Goyf commander is a trap since the Llurgoyf archetype is pretty shallow. This precon as is with Disa as the face commander thrives off of going wide with token creation. Disa's 2nd ability is the one that's going to deal the most damage. I wouldn't flat out ignore the first ability, but I would only focus on it early since the goyfs could only get so big.
      I would honestly take Disa and most of the goyfs out and build a shadow deck around them since I feel like the deck as a whole would run better as a Voltron deck with Coram.

    Watched all 4 of these. Really enjoyed it and the natural back and forth between you two was great. It wasn’t all just agreeing with each other. Plenty of pushback and dissenting opinions but done in a tasteful, constructive way.
    Hoping to see it again for Bloomburrow. Even better if you all review the set drop during spoiler season.

I can see the amount of editing getting up there if you were to do spoiler reviews, blind looks and then the deck upgrades. I understand you’ve got a job that also keeps you busy! Commenting before finishing the video.
    Everyone is getting this deck wrong because the tribal ability is first.
    The famous Jund in modern was a midrange value deck that used a Lhirgoyf as its most iconic card to gain value. This deck is trying to give a commandery sort of version of that(notice the amount of lyrugoryfs you run is about equal in ratio to the non land tarmyogoyfs you ran in the original modern deck.)
    Tarmygof and the graveyard was an important part of that deck, but not the entire deck. So too here.

    Double strike makes disa trigger twice. Savage beating, berserker onslaught and rage reflections are all better then reaver cleaver in this specialtyif you add warpstorm surge m. If this wasent nostalgia jund bate it could have been so much better. Thankfully the price is closer to 40 then the crazy $70 wizards wanted it at

    Hey Grazzet you want a true Graveyard overdrive commander? go Sultai(BGU)and just use Muldrotha the gravetide instead as she literally turns our graveyard into an alternative library by just being present nevermind the insanely numerous number of cards that openly support graveyard based strategies in these colors directly: Black we have Deathblade marauder which is a 1/4 deathtouch for 2B that drains our opponents life totals whenever he deals combat damage to a player equal to the number of creatures in our graveyard. Green we have Golgari grave troll which is a 0/0 for 4G but entets the battlefield with a +1/+1 countet on it for each creature card in our graveyard and has dredge 6 so we can forgo drawing a card and instead put six cards from the top of our library into our graveyard to bring it back for more fun and mayhem and considering this is a graveyard strategy it'll always comeback stronger and meaner than it previously was and blue we have River kelpie which is a 3/3 for 3UU that has persist which is when it dies if it had no -1/-1 counters on it return it to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it and it reads whenever River Kelpie or another permanent enters the battlefield from a graveyard draw card and whenever a player casts a spell from a graveyard draw card and bare in both abilities effect all players so even our opponents graveyard strategies empower us with more knowledge. Just the Golgari colors alone have way too many cards to list that support graveyard builds just the keywords alone should suffice: dredge, undergrowth and delirium are all graveyard based mechanics. Dimir also loves utilizing the graveyard for maximum gains and I think simic is the only one overall left out of the equation. I think my point is made as to why Muldrotha the gravetide in my opinion makes a superior graveyard commander

    • @eewweeppkk
      @eewweeppkk 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Love the enthusiasm, but Muldrotha is literally the most popular sultai commander in the format by a decent margin, and in the top 10 most popular graveyard commanders period. The only reason muldrotha isn't higher is because they're older at this point - they've been top of the list for graveyard strategies for years.
      I don't wanna put you down, I just wanted to point out that muldrotha is by no means unknown.

    • @Josh-Fischer9804
      @Josh-Fischer9804 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @eewweeppkk I really appreciate the sentiment and I see a compliment here not an insult and I'm not competitive myself so this does help. What I love is this is directly based on what you just said but I used to try to go for the most used card on edhrec for my deckbuilds thinking if that card is #1 in the most used slot it has to be absurdly powerful somewhere and then the card shop I went to explplained to me openly that the used slots has little to nothing to do with power level and much more to do with that particular cards availability so he even told me straight that using Urza, chief artificer instead of Alela, artful provocateur as my commander for my esper deck is not a bad choice and is actually indeed an excellent one. I was just putting Muldrotha not to be insulting towards anyone it's just that I've seen these cards first hand and to me they feel rather inferior or lacking in power compared to Muldrotha and the fact that literally as mentioned above Sultai literally is growth through death in form and function as sadly red doesn't yield much in the form graveyard support itself. I abandoned my Muldrotha edh deck for a Felix five boots deck because I wanted something different and it is indeed different but when I did have my Muldrotha deck I must've had at least 30 if not more cards that all interacted with my graveyard in at least one way or another with all of them being black, green or blue cards and multocolor cards were no exception either. This is why I couldn't help but say hey abandon the Jund idea and toss away the red cards and go Sultai.

    LIVE GRAZZET & KAPRAK REACTION
    Properly written this time! Anyways, amazing vid as always... hopefully this series continues to exists ALONGSIDE Cut-Rate Decktechs. Shame the commander is not a version of Saffi Eriksdotter. After all, she is the one who famously said "Ach, Hans run! It's the Lhurgoyf!", so... yeah.

      It's almost like they created a precon that is easily upgraded and optimizable in both the face and alternate commander's direction🤯🤯... also it's like these guys are unaware of the existence of the Changeling mechanic, wherein some of the absolute best creatures are in these very colors 🤯🤯

    • @pascalsimioli6777
      @pascalsimioli6777 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @xeper9458c yeah It's like the made a bad product on purpose and slapped a premium price on it because suckers like you exist

    • @eewweeppkk
      @eewweeppkk 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @xeper9458 Changelings mentioned in the first 5 minutes, also while I can appreciate a precon that has two different themes to build around, the face commander has like 10 cards specific to their strategy and Coram has pretty much none at all. Graveyard tutors make the face commander consistent, yet there are none - and only like 7 possible hits in the entire deck for their first ability. Coram has zero big power creatures to synergies with and a single piece of evasion in the equipment. The evasion goes doubly so for the face commanders first ability.
      And we have to talk about the mana base. So many cycling lands were added which have no synergy in the deck at ALL. Every cycling mono colored land would be better as a basic land since they come in tapped. They didn't even add the new green graveyard land despite it having delirium, which is major llurgoyf flavor, AND repeatable recursion, having major graveyard flavor. I always give precons a pass on mana base. But its like they went out of their way to make this one worse. Heck, Coram can't cast most of their opponents spells because he needs color specific mana, but the only thing in the deck that doesnt tap for jund colors is exotic orchard. Not even a felwar stone, no chromatic lantern, nothing.
      And don't forget to say hello to the completely random dragons thrown in that have no synergy.
      Your arguments aren't exactly wrong, it's just that this precon is one of the least cohesive of all the recent precons from recent sets, almost all of which have multiple strategies that can easily be expanded upon.

    • @xeper9458
      @xeper9458 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@eewweeppkk 👏Very good my friend! I love the keen analysis, as this is the exact type of response I desired to elicit with that comment! Yes I'm aware they briefly mentioned Changelings, but they failed to factor in their application, which would nullify the argument of this not being a tribal deck. The overarching theme is a classic graveyard deck, with the deliciously flavorful subtheme of Lhurgoyf tribal. I agree the cycling lands have no synergy other than just to fill the grave and that the manabase was very weak. They seemed to have opted for putting all the reprint value in their budget in everything other than lands/manabase. This deck was certainly aimed at the firmly entrenched players like me who love the lore and flavor. The dragons are very much a part of the homage to the Jund graveyard decks of old. Also, they never include any of the new land cycle in the precons. They want those to drive pack sales, the same reason why the fetch land pull rate is seemingly drastically reduced.

    • @eewweeppkk
      @eewweeppkk 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@xeper9458 I can appreciate that the deck has some value reprints so we can at least trade for stuff that makes mechanical sense. While I agree that they don't put new land cycles into their precons, the shifting woodland is the only land of its type this set and it is a no brainer shoe in for the deck for power and flavor, which is why I feel like it's absence is really felt.
      And while I do appreciate some jund dragon callbacks I feel like this just isn't the place for them. A few of them can *technically* be considered graveyardy because they sacrifice things... but it's not really a sacrifice deck at all so I feel as though it's just a wasted slot they could've used to include more cohesion for both other archetypes they were going for.
      All in all, to me this feels like a 4th precon in the set, meaning they put their attention and focus on the other 3 and had to do /something/ for number 4 without as much care and attention. This is the only MH3 product I purchased and plan to purchase because I always find precons hold their value (unlike gambling on packs) and I feel as though I can at least trade out the weird pieces for cohesive stuff and get a decent deck out of it

    Dinosaur, Phyrexian, goblin, elf and Tempt with Mayhem should’ve been in other products. All of these cards should’ve been replaced with more new actual graveyard synergy cards or Goyfs. Five more new Goyf creatures, Goyf synergy, or graveyard support would’ve been great. That’s really my only criticism of this deck.
