Thanks for your video. I bought the FX3 in 2019, nobody wants it because of the C300 and FS7 are way more popular. I shoot a lot of Corporate, Short Films and even some TV Documentaries on it. It was a wonderful camera and investment was fine, best since my Sony EX3 and I got a FS7 after that - Image was way better on the FX3 but I bought the FS7 because the market wants it. Sold my FX3 with a lose of less than 50 % in 2022. Miss the Image :')
I bought a FS7 last week. Now I have a A7RIII and FS7 setup. Plenty of e-mount lenses. I usually shoot documentary type content, lots of interviews, weddings and sports content. I was like you and found someone selling a FS7 kit and I'm very excited to film my first project with the unit.
I recently bought an FS7, mainly using it for shooting news features, love it so far. I'd be interested to hear what accessories, lenses you use with it, which codecs, picture profiles you use etc. I've been experimenting with HLG recently.
The FS7 is a solid investment - even today. I have one since 2015 and still use it. If you are looking for a real cinema beast of camera for a fraction for it's price and no compromise in picture quality - look for an used Sony PMW-F55!
Been eyeing the f55 for a long time. Very affordable today. However, I convinced myself to stick to the E-mount. But for anyone looking for a camera body for cine work only it might be a good deal. I have no experience with it but seems nice.
A sad day, but fair enough, my F3&FS7 doesn't get enough work. I'm too busy working heaps in the Sound Dept instead (and even worse, I'm back studying full time too! I really don't have any spare time to play around with cinematography now) so perhaps I should sell my F3 too.
Sorry man , but dont agree, pmw F3, is by far image quality with a PL mount cine lens a lot superior to a emount lens on a fs7, im not knocking at all a fs7, but relying on a 4K image so as to crop, personally, and it is personally, a lazy man’s situation as too shot it correctly in the first place on 1080. Remember these camera retailed for around 20G on launch, grading is so easy , good luck with fs7- but keep your block of gold.
I don't recall claiming fs7 with E mount lens is superior to f3 with cine lens quality wise. However that's debatable depending on situation. And its not about not being able to frame properly. its for cuts. When you produce over 100h of talking head videos a year, trust me, you would want to hide certain cuts with reframing. If I work full time as a filmmaker and the camera sits in the shelf for over a year. its not the right tool for me. But glad you like the camera. I love how it looks!
I concur. I own both and the FS7 can’t compete with the F3 in image quality. For run and gun the FS7 is the better option as its lighter, has af, etc. Not sure I would part with mine for an FS7, but I do understand having to sell gear in this line of work. As someone that has been doing this for decades, the best investment you can make is in obtaining the best lenses you can afford that suit your line of work. Im glad its working out for you though, the sailing footage looks amazing.
If we are talking about the F3 its ok because its only 1080p. However I shot 4k externally on my A7III and oh boy… I got myself a Synology nas with 60tb of storage. Its soon full… 😂

Damn! Exactly the same route! I’m coming from the shitty ignorance entry world of mirrorless (sony a7iii), bought recently the F3 and couldn’t place none of my E mount lenses on it… I’ve to restart, find a good lens to mount on the F3 but have really little free time. Probably i’ll bother you asking something about it! Like, which cheap but also good lens do you recommend for the F3?
I went the Nikon adapter route. Already had a samyang vdslr kitt with nikon mount since before. That works. Also older vintage nikon lenses are dirt cheap and looks fantastic. Why nikon? The adapers is cheap. Ef is very expensive. Or go a bit hardcore and buy whatever cheap PL mount lens you can find. That is future proof.

Fs7 completely obliterates it with RAW output

FS7 is a workhorse! Wish it was a better low-light camera, but just a solid camera all-around

There is nothing better than BMPCC6K for low budget. This camera would have been a dream in FS7 times.

how do you manage the file size from the external recorder? I heard the file size is really big compare to its internal recording
