No SD Card? No Internet Channel? No problem! Today's tutorial video showcases a new method of Homebrewing the Nintendo Wii by using the str2hax exploit by Fullmetal5. This method only requires an internet connection, as it uses a custom DNS server to load the HackMii Installer though the Wii's EULA page.

Thanks a lot for this! I just did this with a Wii console bought in Australia (which is an European model anyway) and it was a success. I'll mention some minor differences from the US Wii model (for reference to owners of an European Wii model) but the process is still identical:
1. The prompt for performing a Wii system update when your connection is successful will mention Wii Support Code: 11172 instead of 11182.
2. The third option in the Internet menu under Wii System Settings 2 is called "Agreement/Contract" instead of "User Agreements".

Dear everyone looking for a “this is a virus comment”: this worked perfectly. This channel has plenty of subscribers so that is a reason to trust it. The like-to-dislike ratio is largely in favour of likes and it only took me 6mins.

My console has been on an extended hiatus for many years [ after an untethered Wii tennis 'racquet' almost led to a domesticated-wildlife bystander fatality ] so it won't have had any system updates since.
Does it update straight to 4.3 from any version? Will the store's closure matter?
Not only could it still have some medieval Game & Watch era firmware - it definitely won't have an internet channel or anything like that - so can I add the emulation, channels, ROMs & wotnot without an SD card - via USB stick or online, after using this technique?
Also is the Wii internal storage usable for anything / everything / games etc...
Finally, a couple of peripheral queries. Will this provide any additional controller compatibility options e.g...
# Is it possible to use PS3/4 pads, for example on Game-cube titles?
# Also can the SNES classic pad be used for anything / if so has it got enough buttons for any N64 / Game-cube / Wii games [ Mario titles / Smash Bros / Rogue Squadron maybe? ]

@@johnkenny8869 even though this *method* doesn't require an sd card, you still need it for the apps and all that, and to get the games, you download either USB loader gx, cfg or wii flow and then you need a USB to store the games
@@oprmantic4752 You can still use a flash drive for Homebrew content rather than an SD Card.
Press 1 while on the HBC, then select the USB Port that your drive is in
I have a wii u that comes with the wii menu so is there a way you can do this with the wii u version of this?
The wii channel uses the internet settings that are already on your wii u. So no. Good question though, tbh I was thinking the same thing.

Just so everyone knows, your Homebrew Channel will be blank when you get it installed. This is normal. If you want to install Homebrew Applications, I do have a couple of additional tutorial videos!

@@monado1738 i don't remember the specifics of everything off the top of my head, but I just followed exactly what he said up until the agreement thing, kept moving my wii remote around in circles so it wouldn't disconnect, and then made it past all that and got the homebrew channel.

Ah the good ol DNS method. As far as I can remember the Gamecube was the first out of the Nintendo products to have this homebrew method popularized except it worked a bit differently. Good video and good find.
I forgot the gamecube had a lan adapter till now
I remember when people would make memcard to sd adapters then load it with an AR disk to hack the gamecube
June is actually referring to something that used Phantasy Star Online to load whatever over the LAN Adapter. It partly involved DNS. So you're actually right.

Worked smoothly for me thanks. My wii was version 3.4U and I was not able to update and got errors 32002 and 32007. I changed the country a couple of times. Still got errors. Finally I disabled my 5GHz band of my router because my router is dual band and I just left the 2.4 GHz band on. I also changed the wireless channel of my router to 1 to minimize any probable interference. It worked and updated successfully to 4.3U. Then I followed your video to home brew my wii and it was a breeze. Thank you so much man.

Hi Michael, this tutorial was really easy to follow as someone who has absolutely zero experience with anything like this. But are the two programs in the Oceany-Background on the Homebrew Cannel supposed to come with the channel or how do you get them?
Hey, just wanted to say my Wii just arrived in the mail today, and with this method, I was able to get it Homebrewed right out of the box on the first try, with no issues! Thanks for providing this method! Now just need to wait for my other SD card with all the preloaded games loaded to get here and I'll be good to go!

Unfortunately I keep getting 'Exception (DSI) occurred!' was hoping this method would maybe get me past that, but still seems to be the case unfortunately. Seems to be only my problem though, gave a thumbs up regardless of my issues because the video was very good. Thanks!
Update. I actually was able to get this working after resetting the Wii completely and trying this twice with the first attempt failing. It was super easy to do though so took no time at all! Thanks again for the video!

Absolutely flawless!!!! Thank you. The first time I did a jailbreak on a wii it took me forever and I was constantly back and forth with the SD card. Horrible. This method was incredible!

@@Boo-hs2rv Rarely but yes. To the point where the only way to fix the freeze is to unplug the power to the Wii and replug it in. But for me it isn't something that happens a lot.

I use a DVD player with video in to record the footage to a DVD. A pretty old solution but it still works!

Even though I had an SD card and a USB adapter, I tried this method when I flashed my friend's Wii. It worked flawlessly and in the first try.

I did your letterbomb way before and it worked AMAZING and then tried this and it was even better!!! Also just like you are able to have the homebrew without SD/SDHC card, is there a way to do the same for open shop to add it to homebrew channel or do I still need to use the SD/SDHC card to transfer it to the system. I figured you definitely need a USB or Hard Drive for USBGX but not sure about just getting open shop.

When I enter to the network loader when start configuring my network automatically disconnects from the network I try almost 10 times with the same results
It took me 5 tries,but it was worth it!

For anyone else this happened to, this method kept failing for me at 6:51. It would say “Configure network: Fail”.
Couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong, so just kept trying and on my 4th attempt, it worked. So don’t be disheartened if it takes a few tries.
