Yeah. I got this laptop like 2 months ago. Couldn't find a video on it before.
Quite happy with it. Funny enough, i am able to run most of my games on Ultra settings. Most games can run 60fps@1080x1920.
I game, render videos, photoshop and all those stuff.
The only downside was the battery life. Other than that, its worth the money compared to the Y700.
how bad is the battery life?
Mohd Hezrin Lim I do want to know how long the battery will last for lighter workload, I'm planning on getting it but I want to know how Long you seem to get it from basic task.
Well I can't actually say because I don't really unplug the laptop. I leave it plugged because there is an overcharging protection that allows me to do so. I got it as a budget gaming platform to bring to Uni.
I once went 3-4 hours on light workload, I did not set it to "Power Saving" mode tho. So yeah.

Can it run design software like Solidworks?
I have this laptop and use it for producing my TH-cam videos. It's decent. It gets the job done. The only thing I don't like is that it gets REALLY sluggish when I try to ad 4K alpha channels. It can't handle that.

UuRai yes you can I would recomend getting a Samsung 750 evo ssd at 500gb for 150 or 1tb for 300 it will just make everything run run faster it's worth it

It heats up a bit, but not the point that it will light up on fire - lol.
For future reference, can you test laptops for use with voice recognition software like Dragon Naturally Speaking 13 or higher? Business laptops are increasing being used this way, and such software is a massive drag on resources, slowing down laptops a lot. Doing those tests are nice, but mean very little to non-geeks , and gaming responses mean even less to business people.

The one I'm looking at has intel i5 with 4gb nividia 950m and 12gb ram. Would that be any better for gaming? Would a HP Omen with i5 and only 2gb nividia and 8gb ram be better?

I bought one of the similar notebook (i5 processor). I was curious to know is this board able to install 32gb of ram? and also, i notice there is a aluminium cover above the RAM slot. Is that easy to remove?
Can I upgrade it with an M.2 SSD in addition to my HDD (yeah mine comes with an hdd) ?
Just upgraded mine with 16gb of 2400mhz ram. Mine came with a gtx970m. Skylake i5. And the thing is that you shouldn't trust the benchmark. Mine runs witcher 3 on ultra at 35 fps, on high at 62 fps. It runs skyrim special edition on very high everything on max, without vsync on 60plus fps. Battlefield 1 on high at 50fps. :D

for temperature - depends on what you are doing, but the highest it got for me was about 85. for Noise level - I dB reader to get your the exact noise level, but I did notice that the fans will go up really high but then go down.

lenovo is a good laptop. worth the money but too bad they always provide not a good screen. srgb gamut very low. should provide 90 percent srgb above type of screen

+Coko n'wH I think you have Y700 not the 700. The Y700 goes up to 32gbs.

booting up? like when you hit that power button and you are waiting to get the login screen? or you entered your password and it's taking a long time to get into your desktop?

no worries, you did get the model with the SSD? or look into the power options. I don't have my Windows 10 test box, so off the top of my head look into the Power Options and there should be an option that says something like choose what the power button do and inside that option you will see turn on fast startup. if it's disabled - enable it and restart the machine. hope this helps.

Looks like an issue with cinebench and the gtx 950... It doesn't add up that it's as slow as a 620... something is definitely up.

+Joop Opa it's configured to have to both. Your windows operating system is installed on the SSD (this is why it boots fast) and the 1TB HDD is for storing or installing stuff.
Build Quality/Material?
+Adam Azmanhazim it has blend of PC and ABS plastic. It's one of those laptops that if you drop it will crack. hope this answers your question.

+Adam Azmanhazim polycarbonate on the top and the bottem is ABS plastic. I mean it can last some bumps, but you are planning to throw around it won't survive. :)
One more question, is it like soft touch plastic both exterior and interior part of the laptop or is it hard plastic all around?

Well, Saying the cinebench cpu score is low, is just wrong, it is on par with a 3770k, and is the best in any laptop on the time of the vid.
And using cinebench number place as a ref point, is just stupide.
And testing open gl, com on dude....
Your gonna break it before you do the video if you whack it more!
This laptop is a rubbish... the hinge will broke after using for a month
