Possibly the Best Place to Fish for Silver Salmon on Alaska's Road System

Silver salmon fishing this summer in Valdez, Alaska was an some family adventure. The fishing was good enough that all of the kids were able to catch coho salmon. We even found enough lost lures on the beach to fill our tackle box. #HowtoAlaska

Don’t forget head first. You must have been down at the Russian about the same time we were. Our boys got limits of 6 and Beth caught one, but that was about all she could handle in the current. We’ll see how they like dipnetting this week.

How to Alaska Do you use 20-30lb main line? Where is its ? I think about my trip for next year...

I use 12-17 lb main line. I supposed if you used braided you could use 20-30 lb. Its about getting your lure far out so you are in the strike zone longer. That is what I found most effective. If your line is too thick you cant cast as far.

You can snag them there but they also bite on medium size inline spinners like a Mepps or Vibrax

Just back up and drag them up on the beach, less chance of losing it tangling up in a net. Be ready to bonk it on the head, the hook comes out flipping around on shore. Nets are needed when fishing off the rocks though.
