Fishing for Coho Salmon in Alaska

  • With summer coming to an end, we head outdoors and target Silver Salmon at a nearby river. Although the fish proved hard to catch, we don't come home empty handed. Wild berries foraged in our back forest and a unique salmon recipe leave us thankful to live in a bountiful state.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

I agree whole heartedly, Alaska is absolutely breathtaking wherever you look at. I have only been once and I would love to be younger and able to make it over there once more. These videos really do a lot for me, I’m so grateful. Every day I watch for your videos and I have learned to admire and love you. Keep it up lovingly (ah, and your rooster’s crawl which I enjoy so much). A paradise of berries … a paradise to dream about. Enjoy your salmon. Night time for me. 🙏🥰

My youngest granddaughter 9yrs old would spend the day 'grazing' through your fields, her primary diet consists of berries, strawberries, blueberries raspberries and all kinds of cheese. She refuses to eat anything green; although she will devour a medium rare steak. She's a bit little for her age but she's healthy and quick as a whip.
Whereas her older 10yr. old sister stands a full foot taller and outweighs her smaller sister by 20 pounds eats literally EVERYTHING is very athletic and beats all the boys in her class in running and arm wrestling is equally smart and awesome!!! They would both love spending some time on a property like your. We currently live in the desert of southern Arizona where it NEVER snows and seldom rains, you two are living in the 'garden of Eden' by comparison, cherish it every day!!!

Tip for the cloudberries. you can pick them before they are ripe and put them on newspaper indoors. They continue to ripen and that way you can put them in the freezer when they are perfectly ripe.
I recommend that you cook them with a little sugar and serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Word of warning. Fishing regulations in AK clearly state that you must keep the salmon in the water if u intend to release them. No exceptions. If you remove it from the water, you have to keep it.
Remove it from water and let it go and you get a ticket.
AK troopers love these videos. Easy tickets.

Hi and thanks for the video. I wish that we in Finland, where we live, had as good salmon fishing... What we do have is all kinds of currants, black, white, red, pink and green currants. All are yummy and they're supereasy to grow. In case you would want to try you could cut a branch of the plant you found. Put it in a glas of water for rooting, or directly into a pot with good compost. Keep well watered and you have a new plant within a few weeks. Grown in a garden and with good soil the berries get much bigger. Good luck, Rebecca from Åland

First, my brain appreciates when your blog includes the date/time reference stamp.
Second, your cooking show has an instant mouthwatering affect. There was something about this cooking episode: the perfect scenic camera angle, the build-up of successful silver fishing and then the berry picking on the ‘home forty’, or maybe the combined happiness you both exuded during the meal prep. Anywho, you knocked it out of the park.
My vote would be the scenic wide angle view for the cooking show. 🏆
Like someone else mentioned, I too look forward to your upcoming hunting adventures.

Just catching up on videos from you guys. You've taught me a Delawarean about how many different kinds of Salmon there are. Growing up I only ever had Pink Salmon..as a 45 yr old adult my palate has tried others obviously lol. But still never knew the extent til watching you two a few years ago! Ty for another great video. I can watch your videos over & over!
I did read the Salmon berries can be used as a tea for diarrhea and both berries can be used for burns. You have this on your property is just amazing!
