    Pelican Catch PWR 100 is a kayak and bass boat hybrid. You can paddle it or you can power it! This thing had impressive performance on the water and the 360 degree seat gave me easy access to the entire kayak!

      Nucanoe Frontier 10 if we are talking dollar for dollar. Although, it is a difficult choice. I really enjoyed the PWR 100, but if it were my money and choice that is which one I would maybe pick. I think I would get the Pelican out fishing more though....It is so lightweight and easy to transport!

      What features are most important to you in a new kayak? What is your max budget? That will help me narrow down options. I’m a big fan of the Lighting kayaks Strike and Old Town PDL/Ocean Kayak PDL. Old Town has the new Salty PDL for $1899. The PDL drive is one of my favorite pedal kayaks.

    Actually, there is something else out there like this -- the Feelfree/Joy Sports Jonny Boats Bass 100, which actually has a few more features/options to it, but also doesn't have some of the features of this Pelican. Both of these "kayak alternatives" are great fishing vessels. Neither are very paddle-able. If I got to the point where I just couldn't physically handle paddling anymore, I'd go for one. Until then, I'd rather stick to a kayak with a trolling motor because then I can still easily paddle it (when I need to and when I just feel like it).

    Is it a kayak or a boat? I ask because I’ve seen these where people have them with numbers and a sticker on them like it was registered and inspected like a car

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Most states require registration on motorized kayaks. They are sold as kayaks. The benefit of companies selling them as kayaks is they don’t need as strict of USCG rating for max HP and they qualify for higher weight capacity. Any kayak can be motorized and registered. Easy process. Just need MCO manufacturers certificate of origin papers that often come with the kayak new.

    Well that's cool but I already own a small 10 ft flat bottom that I only paid 100$ for. 34 1/2 inches wide so I can easily stand and fish. I also already own a pescador pro 10 so if I dont wanna paddle it I just take my lil Jon boat. To be honest though I dont like lugging the battery and trolling motor down to the water. Kayak =easy fishing

    Does this require registration please?

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in most areas of the United States once you put a motor on you typically have to register. It is super easy to register and quite inexpensive in most states.
      Bill of sale and hull ID number is often all that is needed to register a kayak with a motor. Some states ask for a "manufacturers certificate of origin" prior to registration. That certificate often comes with new kayaks/boats but if you didn't get one you can ask the manufacturer to send you one. In this case you would ask Pelican to supply a certificate of origin if it didn't come with the boat. HOPE THIS ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION.

    it would really pop with steering even it is pole steering ,I do not see any adj. foot rest also it could use a shortened motor with a motor lift and a Bigfoot trolling motor switch,it would be nice to work everything while seated facing forward,, really nice set up but could be extremely nice set up right,,I may start offering a motor kit for these with the short motor, steering and motor lift and also for the nu canoe or others with the built in motor mount,, enjoy

  • @jonnyspeed
    @jonnyspeed 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How fast?

    • @KayakDIY
      @KayakDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I had to paddle it I imagine it being pretty slow. However, speed with motor felt dang fast. The design and prewired deck layout was really convenient. I imagine I would really use one a lot if I owned one. The speed just depends heavily on what motor or small outboard you put on the back. I bet it could do close to 6mph+ with a Minn Kota Endura 30lb thrust. I was having to much fun so I didn’t think to do GPS speed tests. I failed 😞

  • @Beyondthebreakers
    @Beyondthebreakers 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    this is basically a jon boat, not a kayak.
    I like my kayak because I can exercise and fish at the same time. My battery will never die and if my pedal drive breaks, I still have a paddle and can return home. If I hit by the wave, I have scupper holes. If I roll over, I get back and return home. Now, I want to see how you paddle this 38 inches "kayak" and how this thing behaves in rough water or if you have electrical problems with the battery, etc. I would not take it beyond a very calm lake. There are probably some buyers for such boat, but this is my opinion on the subject.
