If we keep doing stuff we love we will always be excited…I get excited every time I go out fishing in my bass raider. It’s all about having fun I’m 41 and just started fishing 2 years ago. Congrats!!!
I'm 53 just got the 100 castaway im excited to. You not alone lol!! Adventures never stop if you keep going! Getting a kayak opens up a another world of fun
Thank you for your video tour of the Catch PWR 100. I've had mine for about a month, on the lake twice. Like any kayak it gets better with custom mods. Thought I would share in case you want to try doing some of the same. I'll start with power. I purchased a longer paddle from pelican due to the width of this craft. The width makes the boat more stable, but can also be a challenge with paddling. But who paddles?! I mounted a Watersnake ASP, 24" shaft, 24lb thrust, 12v trolling motor on the transom. You're right about the lip on the transom saving the motor! I swapped the connector to use the one that came with the yak. I run the motor via a MightyMax lead acid battery model 55-12, 12v 55ah. The motor pulls 20amps at full speed. The battery fits nicely in the front of the yak, straps down, and the cover closes just fine. However, I have my battery in a battery box. This brought about my first modification. The battery stap that comes installed on the yak is not long enough when using the battery box. I removed the strap by drilling out the rivet and replaced it with a longer strap that I riveted in place. The yak battery cover now sits about a 1/2" off the deck with this setup. However, the stretch strap still holds it down. The first time I took this out on the lake I had a very difficult time with tracking straight. The issue is with weight distribution. To reach my motor I have to sit sideways and reach back. Not only is this uncomfortable for me, but also more of my body weight was on one side of the yak. Then my second mod - steering system by Bixpy. This was a little unnerving to install, but got up the courage after a few brews. To install, I first had to install an access hatch on one side of the stern. For this I used a 4.5" hole saw to cut the opening. Cutting a big hole in a new yak?! Yep, and installed a black access hatch that unscrews and gave me just enough room to get my forearm inside the yak for pulling the steering tubing and cables from the controller back to the motor. I then had to fashion some kind of connection to the motor shaft. Plenty TH-cam videos on doing that with cheap hardware. I made my own out of some plastic I had laying around the shop. Have to say, the steering works great once you have it dialed in! Now I sit facing forward, which centers my weight, and the yak tracking is much better. My next mod was to build and install a PWM to add variable speed to my motor (which has high and low speed). PWM I used is also remote controlled. I installed everything in a waterproof box and mounted it behind the seat. Using the remote I can control power, speed, and direction. My last mod to date was installing a kill switch on the yak. For that I purchased a unit that interrupts the power to the motor when the pin is removed. Again, had to cut a small hole in the boat for fishing the red positive line running inside the haul. I then cut that line, wired it to each side of the switch, and mounted the switch to the haul. When I go out in the water I attach a lanyard to my PFD and to the switch. All the pieces parts for these projects were bought on Amazon. It has been a lot of fun modifying the yak once you get over drilling into haul! Good luck and good fishin'!
3 years later, you probably figured it out. Drain plug latches down the opposite direction that you were trying in the video. I didnt finish the video yet, so maybe you figured around end of video. Im just as giddy as you about picking up my Catch 100 pwr. 🥶
Love my vessel. She sugar into the bank acct a little. Ordering all my mods, accessories, add-ons, batteries, charger panel for my phone. And of course gotta have that 2.5 Suzuki outboard. I feel the way I felt, when I was 10 years old. My dad bought me a 4ft raft, with the oars. She was my fishing vessel, with my tackle box, my bobbers, and fresh nightcrawlers. he couldn't get me out of. Lol. I'm 49, and I feel that same way. I'll go out all day, on a 1600 lake. I can get to my spots, away from boat traffic, and pack my kayak for every different adventure. Be safe enjoy!!🤟🎣🙏
I plan on buying this model in the near future myself. I did want to say that in the past with my other Pelivan kayaks, those drain plugs are very important because the Pelican kayaks tend to accumulate water inside the hull from condensatoon.
Took mine out for the first time this weekend with a 40 trust MinnKota and so much fun was had :) One thing I found very useful was the Scotty anchor adapter, simply golden. Cheers
I made the same mistake you did when installing the seat. I discovered after I got the seat together that the frame does come out of the rails... would have made things easier. I just bought mine yesterday from Academy, so haven't had a chance to use it yet.
Lol. I was like “duh” after I realized it was removable. You’ll enjoy it! I’m thinking of trying to add a 7 inch extension to the seat. Not sure it will work:)
I’ve just recently been looking at this kayak along with the Jonny bass 100. I’m in the U.K. and we have a place here where they have them for £640/$800 since I’m in the U.K. that seems a bargain price!
Thanks for the new boat walk-around video. This is #1 on my list to buy, and seeing how it comes and is set up helped with my decision. One question for Ed, or anyone else with this boat, would adding a 7" seat riser affect the stability? I'm 6'3" can concerned about leg room.
regarding the measuring pad, if you are that concerned about legal length, that pad is a good reference for large fish. Legal various fish being FL flounder, snapper, grouper, red fish, trout, king Mack, tuna, dolphin fish etc. If fresh water, buy more worms: 10 to 12 of the pan fish equivalent.
Thanks for watching. I’m not really concerned. I have only kept what fish we caught recently while deep sea fishing:) I’m catch and release with Bass:)
I have 2 of these lil boats. 1 for me and 1 for the wife. You right they very hard to find. The wife's we drove 11 hours round trip to pick it up. For is the paperwork gos you need to go back to the store you bought it from and get the mso paper that supposed to come with the boat and a bill of sale to get it registered. Mso is manufacturer state of origin. We put the Minn kota 40 on a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery. Battery 24dc I think it was and the push great loaded down. Lowrance hook2 4x with gps fish finder with a transducer trolling motor mount works great. Enjoy
That kayak is very heavy at 87lb and it's only 10ft,i was thinking of buying one, but i just change my mind, to heavy for me.I just got rid of my hobie outback 2018 because of it was to heavy to put on the top of my car.
Just ordered this yesterday. What trolling motor shaft length is ideal for this boat? Is 30 inch ok? That's what I ordered already but wonder if I needed 36. Thanks
Not at home to measure but I know that it will hold a normal size battery (car size). But it will not hold the battery plus a box. Only a battery will fit inside the compartment.
I was searching youtube for the raider and this video came up. You said in the video you also have the raider. Now that you have used both what unit do you prefer more? Pros and cons to each? Thanks for posting this video.
First, with both you really need a rudder to help with tracking. With the Raider it’s obviously wider which makes it more stable. I like how I can put the trolling motor at the front on the Raider. With the Catch PWR it breaks my back having to stay twisted to control the TM. Need a steering mod. I think I actually prefer the Raider for space, stability and tracking plus can take a passenger. Thanks for watching.
@@outdoorswithedsometimesg Thank you very much for your reply. You have helped me make my decision. As soon as I can find a raider in stock, im buying it. Hope you catch some big ones.
You will want to install a scupper hole for drainage. Trust me. Check my video for that when you get ready or there are also several other videos about it on YT. Enjoy!
you need the document of origin also, should be on the back of the owners manual, plus the receipt to prove the taxes were paid..otherwise the greedy gubberment will tax you again..if your kayak is 10ft or under you don't need to register it.. in MN anyway

9:00 the boat at acadamy sports I was looking ar tonight had the same problem. Its why I didn't buy the boat and am watching more youtube videos.

Under the seat there appears to be a non drilled scupper hole.
My version looks a little different than yours.
What is that for???

I’ll bet:)
Just ordered 55lb TM. That’ll be a little faster:)

I have been told it will make it too heavy by adding the riser. I think you’ll have enough leg room as the seat will adjust back if needed.
did you boat come with the clear wire covers over the 2 ends of the wires?
I can’t remember:).
Just an fyi to anyone wondering the rack the seat sits on does come out to make it easier to install the seat

Got the MSO with my Bass Raider but they didn’t have it with the yak. They didn’t even know what it was. Lol.
Awsome vid of your yak loved it 👍🏼
Thank you!
Re: your Bass Raider 10e; have you had a problem with water intrusion between the deck and hull?
I have had no issues. I even installed a drain and plug. Sealed great.
Why plug up all the scuppers?

Yes. And a 24” will also work. I am going to order one soon.
24" shaft is fine. I have a Watersnake ASP 24T that has a 24" shaft and it works just fine for me.
Man I’m so excited ordered mine this morning
You’ll love it!
Check out my video about registration
Flip the stopper lever the other way , you was trying to close it the wrong direction
I have one of these boats on order and it is supposed to come in soon. Do you know the width and height of the battery box? Great video!

I don't know what you paid, I've seen them on line for 1100 dollars but the Academy near me has them for 650, yes the same rig
Better to take the seat rails out before ataching the seat lo
How does it perform when paddling?
It paddles well too. My wife’s Argo 80 is faster though 😂
Is the catch power worth it? Om about to order one
Did you get it yet? How do you like it?
Would this boat fit in the back of 07 dodge ram 1500 ???
I would guess it would. I have used my Toyota Tacoma:)

You do if you add trolling motor
Were you pushing down the drain plug the wrong way or was it faulty? Nice little ship 👍
Got another one and it fits fine. Must have been too large from the factory. :)
other side the drain plug n.......
I just took mine down the Rainbow River. I posted a video, check it out.
Sucks to be a cowboys fan. Go Niners!
Circle back 🤣
😂
More boat than a kayak. No way you can paddle this ‘kayak’.
It certainly is more of a personal type boat than yak...and it takes some effort to paddle:)
