Aliex, Another great video. You are one of the most objective and honest reviewers on youtube-- I know I can trust you. Thank you for the great work and your dedication.
I would pick the Pelican in a heart beat . Reasons : 360 Degree turn chair so great while you're fighting a big Snake head Lol or changing casting direction , easier to paddle , no attachment needed to mound the motor , more rod holder , I wish they would 've left those wheels alone . I would't mind paying extra $200 for them .
I'll tell you what - I've been trying to decide between these 2 for a while...both have many great benefits and features, but since I have to pick one (if I don't, I'll never get on the water....lol), I would choose the Pelican. Although less stable than the Jonny, I don't foresee myself rocking too much on the boat and the EASE of trolling motor setup could not be more simplified - and the fact that there's a 360-swivel seat - my my...you can't beat that! So seeing this video helped me decide and I want to thank you!
Alex to my opinion the pelican with a center console will be a game changer but the price of a center console motor is high versus a regular trolling motor. Other important point that you not mention is the wide of the boat. Pelican is wider than the Jonny boat that is very important because that extra space is important to work with the fish after catching it also to work with the tackle box and drinks players fishing tools etc. Also you will stand up and stay more comfortable on it. You make a great video good job bro. Let me know when you are ready for sell the pelican you mention match. honestly I want it soon but we have to wait for it.
Hey great video! Question.. So if I was to get the jonny boat would I have to buy the transom adapter still if I decided to throw on a trolling motor? Or could you simply run it without that outboard adapter you have on this video? Thanks!!
Could I please ask you to please measure the opening of the pod area of the Jonny boat bass 100. The length width and depth of that pod? Of the opening .. so usable inches ? Thanks!!!
Easy, make TH-cam videos that help people, start with your own boats and money, buy one or two, sell them at a loss later, buy more with that money, sell them again at a loss again... Eventually companies will see value on what you do and want to work with you, sending you boats to review and only asking for your 100% honest feedback on the videos... Probably takes a good 2 years, 500 videos 5000 hours worked on making videos to get here for a normal person.
I like the pelican more because it has the swivel seat, is pre-wired for trolling motor with transom mount included, battery in the front I feel like will be better balanced then a battery in the back, I can take my 7 year old with me and she'll have room to stretch out. More rod holders so I can have 2 rods and a fishing net. The johnny boat may be more stable but the pwr 110 is stable enough for me. Also I plan to put a waterproof solar charger on the battery and I can easily mount on cover over battery. Thanks again for these reviews. Most appreciated.
I have two fishing kayaks, and 4 cheap Pelicans for a family or friends. You help me make the decision on my first pedal drive Pelican 130. And then I upgraded to the feel free Dorado 125! I would pick the pelican they are great to deal with if you have an issue! Although the feel free is like a Ferrari compared to a Volkswagen! Their customer service is horrible! At least my experience! Pelican has gone out of their way to fix issues! Great video thanks again for all of your time and experience!
Thank you for the very well illustrated explanation of each boat/kayaks pros and cons. I’m looking at those 2 exact items as my first watercraft for fishing. Thankfully your channel was suggested and I learned exactly what I needed to know about each. I’m a bit more sold on the Pelican for it’s simplicity and seemingly easier paddling. The transom mount comes with it without having to pay for extra pieces. I can always continues it later to make it my own. I’ll have to still see them each in person before commuting. Final newbie question, do these require registration or require boating licenses, Thank you very much. 😁🙏🏼👍🏼
I’m thinking with the pelican 100 would be crazy with a I pilot on the back no one said it has to be front mounted and it would be insanely easy to rig a mount because there’s already a place for a bracket
Links to see both boats and prices if you could sir. I just bought a fishing kayak fro ECO outfitters and not to happy with it. 1 time I went out. Sits real low scuple holes plugs I pull plug to let water out it comes in smh. It isn't for fishing for my needs.
On the Jonny bass boat 100 how many inches are the middle opening hatch , I was trying to DIY my own trolling motor in there, looks like it's about 6 inches wide
The JB is about 4 inches narrower the the Pelican which is important to me, but honestly the price of the JB with a motor pod and rudder is only about $100 more than the Pelican power catch. Both are great choices.
I can't decide, I can get the PWR100 with a discount, but the Bass100 is just so nice. I just hate that the Bass100 has no transom stock, but I know over all the bass100 will be better for what I want, a good flyfishing 1 man, I think the stability takes the cake, even if it's going to cost me about $500 more.
yeah because you wont need to pedal just use the motor, can move the seat way back on the rails, if you are over 300# i would get a bigger boat like the milha lite i got videos on it
@@AliexFolgueira thanks man... I can wait...its for my dad..he's getting older and I need something cheap for him to just jump into and fish...no more Hobie for him 71 in a few more months
I went with the jonny boat and im not sure i made the right choice. Its heavier than i thought. And now im thinking i need a small trailer maybe repurposed jet ski trailer or something. I can’t see myself loading this this in and out of my truck. Thinking I should have bought the catch instead. 😩 😅
I think I’d go with the Pelican. I think the motor you can add in the front of the Johnny would make it so you can’t go into shallow water, so if I went with the Johnny, I’d probably just go with an outboard or trolling motor. So that front motor option is a waste for me, especially since I’m more of a fresh water large mouth bass guy. The 360° seat really cinched the deal for me too.

Hey Alex can you please give me your honest opinion? I took out jonny twice this year 2020' By the time I got it and the 2.5 Suzuki. Me and my brother fish a 700 acre Lake in the northeast. I am more of a boater, and I catch and release for fun. Both boats being the same size, I'm on fresh water, and I love the jonny, but like the pelican design for me more. I only weigh 150lbs. My brother will buy my jonny, so I can purchase the pelican, and I can just put my motor on. So since I'm more of a boater and we do camp trips with our boats. Do you think the pelican would be better for me? I've watched all your reviews on both. The pelican also looks easier to paddle. And I would probably lower the swivel seat. I watch all Marty's DIY vids. But you're the only one I believe that can help me with this decision. Thanks Alex be safe🙏🙏
Ohh man this is up to you, I like the 360 seat on the catch and how easy it is to paddle and move around, but you can't easily add a tolling motor to the front. For fun I take the catch ,for mean fishing Jonny
Good review as usual Aliex.. The price difference is not clear cut because if you include accessories the Jonny will be more expensive. To run an outboard on the Jonny you need the transom bracket and steering kit. The Pelican is ready to go no accessoried required. The Jonny hull seems to be marginally superior in terms of speed and stability. Both are very innovative one man power boats/kayaks (or whatever you want to call them)

I remember that video also because I am looking to get a peddle kayak, I have a pelican Catch 120, love it. Good fishing kayak. not as thick as some of the others, but very stable. Now I want to upgrade., I am looking at the Big Fish 108 vs Oldtown sportsman PDL 106. I am asking your professional opinion because you have used both. which one do you think is the better fishing kayak. I like stable, but I also want an easy to use peddle system. I am 61 now so easy is what I need, I use to put the Pelican on top of my SUV but I have since bought a trailer for the new kayak that I get. Overall for the money which do you think would be the best fit for me. Launching and loading, and stand up and fish. Thanks for your time if you did read this whole thing. Have a great day.
Thank you for your first comment! 🙂 I'm honored. The big fish is a very heavy boat, it will be more stable than the 106 pdl Sportsman and a bit cheaper but it has only one year warranty on the drive vs 5 for the pdl. How big are you? The 106 is also faster and has a slightly better seat.
Nice job of explaining, the plus and minus of each... But when you have a comparison, there should be a winner, it is your opinion, no feelings will be hurt.
