My brother you have a level of patience and calm I don’t think I will ever achieve. As a guitarist, thank you for being the type of sound guy you are. This is the type of sound guy we always hope we get.
Another fun, informative video. Thanks for sharing! Sounds like you've found your niche in your local market. One of the things that's been helpful to me over the years, was to meet and become friends with other production providers in my area. Larger AND smaller. We often pass gigs to one another. If I'm already booked, or the gig requires more than I can provide, I'll recommend one of the other businesses. Sometimes I rent gear from others, or do a walk-on for a friend. Helps keep my calendar AND my bank account full!! It's great to hear artists saying how they appreciate you! The most important thing we can achieve in this service business, is a good reputation. I've never once had an artist compliment me on my gear, but I do get compliments on how they enjoy working with me. It pays to treat people well. I've spent 35 years cultivating that reputation and I protect it dearly. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next video!
very good video, the most valuable thing is to see the day to day, beyond the technical aspects of live sound. Your neatness when putting together the setup makes everything seem simpler. Im starting my sound rental today with a small setup! Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina
I learnt a lot just watching. The part were I saw you strap your flight case to the body of the van towards the end of the video was priceless idea for me. I am going to see how I can set up such structures too for our own setup back here
In my experience, if there is an issue with where the client places the stage - i don't set up until I know where my gear is going OR, "hey, I'm already set up. You guys are kinda SOL"
That’s the annoying part about what we do. Getting everything setup, and somebody insists that it all needs to be moved. Usually, that person isn’t going to be moving anything themselves. I have a regular client that kept doing that with every event. I had to tell them to let me know where I will be setting up, and wherever I start setting up, I will not be moving anything once it’s set up.
Remember that 2 ounce thing is gonna make that 100 pound thing 50 pounds heavier > not. and Most stages are not meant to be move once they're assembled.
Great Video - quick tip from me who used to do what you do - before lifting breathe in then out - this engages the core muscles and protects the spine - I wish I had known that earlier! - also drink plenty of water!
gear has become so nice and compact , you don t need much to setup a gig like that , just box digital consol , pair of self power speakers , and some stage monitor , or in ear , bunch of ligths , and you are good to go ,
@@SilverCreekAudio yeah , if you use the berhinger or midias box for 500eu you can make sound for 5-6 pice band , 2 guitars bass , keys , and analogue drums , i see many stage using throws , i iven have drivers for thows divice on my laptop when i need to record shows ,
I find my sweet spot is around $6k - $10k. Once I go higher, I start losing money to sub rentals and excessive labor costs. Great videos, I’m a lighting guy and I watch them! Keep them coming my dude!
Hey Brother, thanks for this realistic video showing how sound is for a lot of people. Hey I’m curious what tool you use for power check at the beginning? Does it measure the amps avails and if it 110 or 220v? Thanks
Nicee!! I just started the education to stage technician and loving your videos! How did you start this company, as it is pretty difficult to setup a company now a days
I've thought about getting into live events, doing audio and potentially lighting stuff as well. Do you have any suggestions on how to build out a quality gear collection from the start? As much as I would love to do the whole thing from the start the way you are, I know it takes time to get there. Thanks for the great content! I've been watching for a few months and really want to get out there and do this type of work. Way more satisfying than sitting at a desk, clacking away for 40 hours a week for someone else
my brother i believe you should invest in a x32 compat or full sized board. even though the rack is nice and all and you can control with a tablet, i promise you when mixing a band the x32 compact or fulll sized board will give you more confidence in your mix
Awesome video man! I'm currently in the process of building my Main Rack. I'm using a Furman power conditioner that has 10 IEC outputs, but I'm gonna wire them into Powercon locking outputs on the case. I will probably then rewire some extension cables to have Powercon locking connectors instead of the usual 3 prong plugs (I'm UK). What do you use for power (conditioning, distribution, safety etc)? For example, do you use anything like 32 AMP 3 phase distro, or MCB/RCBO protection?
I have a feeling you have been burned by a 120V outlet not giving you 120, huh? Had one that was wired 277 one time.. THAT was not fun. I ALWAYS test my outlets now that I have not used before, and usually even outlets I have used before!
I would get triggered HAHA when I plugged everything and have to unplug and later knowing I didn't had to do so. 😂 What is the power checker tool u used btw?
How in the world did they keep from busting their ass on that concrete floor with that bubble machine? Bubble machine machines are horrendous to use on concrete. Just curious how that worked?
Did you get blamed for the scratched floor? I got blamed once and the venue said they were going to ban me for life....about a year later, they went out of business....😂 Karma's a B
Surprised to see you set up your mixer at the front of the stage in the middle. Aren’t you worried about it getting stomped on/ bathed in beer by over-enthusiastic band/ audience members?
Despite the nagging “stage” issues, the end result is what we all do it for. We do and go through a lot, just to make it to where the performers can say how easy and seamless it is for them. That’s the professional work! 🫡💪🏿🌟
3:42 automatically people will assume that the ‘soundguy’ is responsible of everything including the stage placement. I feel you man 😂
I'm a sound guy, sometimes I can make miracles happen. However when it comes to other vendors stuff.... you're going to have to call them.
Literally, was at a gig a few weeks back client rented some cheap lighting and assumed I would set all of it up
Every. Damn. Time.
First thing I was taught was working out when something is not my job.
real asf

Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina
Glad you enjoyed it! Good luck with your sound rentals and thanks for watching!
It's nice to see this guy's organization and professionalism. Congratulations bro. God bless you always. Um abraço, desde Brasil.
Awesome video! The cables you have are literal goals for my future setup, thanks for the endless inspo
Thanks man! Thanks for watching!
I felt that look when they moved the stage... felt it keenly. Been there. Great video!
yet another awesome video man! love watching your stuff!
So glad you're liking the videos dude! Thanks for watching!

I've never seen a stage like that. Good job being patient when it's not your fault the room was set wrong. Great video!
9:14 oh dang look at these scratches in the floor.
In my experience, if there is an issue with where the client places the stage - i don't set up until I know where my gear is going OR, "hey, I'm already set up. You guys are kinda SOL"
I wanted to break so many things when the "stage drama" started. You're a patient dude.
Kudos - you're a very patient man!
What a wholesome video. Thanks for sharing.
Solid gig log , and bravo on your patience, (stage issues). Great cabling !!

We always stay within small gigs as well. Why? Because we are like you, just two people!!😂 great job as usual!
Remember that 2 ounce thing is gonna make that 100 pound thing 50 pounds heavier > not.

You are the most clean person I ever seen .when it comes to cables, wires and set up .nice job brother.i love you videos.
12:05 I love the honestly🤣
can’t wait for next video
so glad you like them! thanks for watching man!
I love these videos man! Keep it up, greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
Sweet! Thanks for watching man!
Man, as soon as I saw that gnary scratch right in the middle happen, I was sure you were going to catch some heat.
The videos are awsome. Cant get enough!
Thanks dude! Glad you like them!
@SilverCreekAudio really do, keeps inspiring me to keep on doing stuff like this.
I'm watching from Turkiye with pleasure, good job and right strategy
As usual more great content!
Thanks dude!
Você é massa cara ! É muito bom ver seus vídeos.
Saudações do Brasil
Great advice on getting clients...thank you

We love to see your videos sharing your experiences.
Me and my wife Cecilia also do some small audio events.
Greetings from Montevideo, Uruguay!
I'm ya'll like the videos! It's so cool that you guys do the same thing. Thanks for watching!
10:30 And I see you got roped into the bubble machines… :P

Man buen trabajo me gusta como tiene organizado su equipo excelente 👍
“so why tf did i take everything off” should be the moto for all sound engineers that have ever had to do this
I subcontract to a small sound production company from time to time, it's really fun.
Nice setup. I use Ubiquiti for my rig as well.
I own a small production company in Ny. I love the smaller gigs.
Smaller gigs can be a blast! Thanks for watching!

2:28 tip: Open the door first and then reverse the van a little closer so the ramp ends up inside ...
Good tip Maurice!
Brasil is here 🇧🇷
Continue to posting more videos
will do! thanks for watching dude!
I mention working in AV once and now TH-cam is like “here you go bud” so uh, you’re in my recommended now. Not complaining though
Oh BOY that would piss me off. I commend your patience.
Oof, That's why you don't move someone elses stage - don't want to be responsible for that hefty scratch in the floor!
spot on!
Hey man, one thing I'd love to see is how you film and do audio for your bts as well, maybe a video on how you do youtube? Love the content!
Good idea! Thanks for watching man!

3:45 not my job bro. Sometimes it’s not worth the back ache and extra work for the customer. 😂
I learned a while back not to mess with gear that's not mine. That definitely includes stages lol.
Not to mention, if he had moved it himself (which he very well could of) he would of damaged the floor like those stage guys did.
Those powerboxes with the powercon in + through: which type are those?
I bought them from a company called OA Windsor

German here. That is exactly what I think of when someone talks about US country side haha

I have a full size board and honestly I prefer to use the rack unit. Just a personal preference. Thanks for watching man!
Great video
Thanks Lewis!
Saludos desde Ecuador... hago lo mismo, pero no son mis equipos... suscrito!
Very nice set-up but I don't understand the center speakers On a case.
bro you're so cool
I'd love to do this! Do you have a video of all the gear you use? Just curious.
I don't, but that sounds like a good video to make! Thanks for watching man!
@@SilverCreekAudio Ah ok, and of course! Watched like 5 videos of yours after this one so good job making good videos lol.
solo una pregunta: cuánto invertiste en todos los equipos?
Love your video. If you dont mind asking. Do you this as a full time?
Classic. Gouge the hell out of the floor to move it...8 inches back? lol
Awesome video man!

Video montage became so much better, where yall are doing these captions?
For the captions, I use caption burner from FX Factory. Thanks for watching man!
I would get triggered HAHA when I plugged everything and have to unplug and later knowing I didn't had to do so. 😂 What is the power checker tool u used btw?
It's a Klein circuit tester amzn.to/3Vu27yu. Thanks for watching!
The stage is never, ever in the right spot.
lol this is great! thanks for watching!
I don't love that for you, but you handled it well.
Love from indonesia
Where did you get your power drops/cables?
OA Windsor
Any plan on getting a Wing Rack?
Yes! But I'm on the waiting list...
When they couldn't lift the stage I thought, please dont slide it, thats gonna scratch the f outta the floor. "Does that look good" 👀Suree......
Dang, so do you pre-label your XLRs based off the bands input list / tech rider? Or do you just work with these guys a lot?
yea, I usually get a rider before shows. The labeling makes things so much easier for me
Who makes those cable trunks you had stacked?
Kangaroo Case. Out of Dallas, Tx.
Hi Jan from holland here, ive got a question you uses the EV ZLX 12P as pa top , is it about the weight you use it .
Or is it the sound, do you compare the ZLX12 to the EKX12.
Are you IEMs PSM1000s?
No, they're PSM900
@ that’s sweet. Have you had a band request monitors instead of IEMs?
How in the world did they keep from busting their ass on that concrete floor with that bubble machine? Bubble machine machines are horrendous to use on concrete. Just curious how that worked?
What do you use for monitors?
here we're using IEMs but I'll use 12" zlx for floor monitors too
