Best thing to do go buy a very cheap old laptop from ebay that works get a cheap tool set of amazon for $25 and take the laptop apart clean it and just investigate take bits off or look part numbers up on Google to find out what they do . Then put it back together again if it breaks you learn from your mistake for next time think of it as a hobby instead of buying games or drinking spend the money on cheap stuff to take apart and mess about with . This is one of the best restorations I've seen, great video, thanks for going through everything! It's good that this laptop can also have an external graphics card, not many laptops can do that! Also, I think I know why they used the exit sign in the battery: some couriers do not like shipping batteries (particularly overseas, if there wasn't any available in your country) so they put the battery in there and declared it as an exit sign, so it wouldn't be confiscated and/or destroyed in the shipping. At least you got a free exit sign (and yes I would have also turned it into a small portable light).

Andrew with this video i want to let you know you helped by telling my about the heat pads on the gpu and CPU. they are really terrible things. they don't work at all. I have damaged my laptop back cover because of the cooling fan noise. this minute 10 minutes ago i changed my the pads with thermal paste and the fans are not kicking in so far. as i am writing this i got a game on Microsoft edge on and many background things. usually at this point my fans would be going crazy but no nothing is making any noise to annoy me. no turbo no over heating and the room temperature is about 30-40 degrees. i am very thankful about i this i don't have the right words to express how much this helped me personally. much much love for this brother. oh and loved the video. good one make more please and faster if possible :)

Alienware laptops are so satisfying to take apart. I own the r4 and it was insanely easy to take apart. I plan to eventually upgrade the display soon cause who likes 60hz.
I’ve had this laptop for almost 8 years of basically daily use and heavy gaming on it, its still kicking and I haven’t even bought the graphics amplifier yet!
Wowww! I knew that the speaker was okay I had the same exact issue before in an older laptop and I too had a pin from a stabler stuck in the speaker and caused the scratching noise. Laptop speakers rarely go bad I actually never seen one going bad before.
I have one of those AGA units, its pretty cool. I believe there is a performance penalty for utilizing the built in screen however. So ideally, you use a standalone monitor with an AGA setup. Nice video!

Funny you should say that because I opened up my own HP Omen (2018 model?) today, the one with i7-8750H and 1050Ti GPU. It had way too much dust near the fan/heatsink fins, and the thermal paste had gone past its best. Temperatures already much lower, and with the latest software update there is also an Eco mode which limits performance in order to reduce temperatures. I may use that in future when this laptop is no longer required for gaming.
Hi Andrew, I am in the Age of 13.and i always watch your Videos. Thank You For Your Inspiration, Becouse of You, I hav learnt Many Hardware Things of Laptops.

Yeah the build quality of this generation was Alienware's last of it I still have my AW13r2, same as in this video. Also have the gfx amp, with a 1080ti. Still going strong, never an issue (HD did fail, replaced with SSD) Recently bought a new M15 R5 Ryzen 9 + 3070 and it's a beast. Have 0 issues with it, but the build quality is not the same.
