- Hi everyone, thank you for 26:44 of your time. In this video I restore the Alienware M15X which was sold to me as "working" but no problem at all, I fixed it 😊, except the GPU. The GPU still working and it will work but with lowed performances, however I already order another GPU GTX 460M, which is enough for this mode, I can go with something better but isn't worth, I won't get performances for what I will pay for.

I like doing old laptop restorations...for me its actually very relaxing..even if sometimes i cannot fix them at all.
@@konstantinosaidinidis3504 all is relaxing until you realize something messed up, I also do computer & phone and gadget restoration and custom specs upgrade, and this happen all the time, especially with OEM like Dell and HP

Thanks to you, i learned how to assemble and disassemble a laptop, now i can clean and repair some laptops. Even i make some money with cleaning, repairing and applying thermal paste, not much but enough for me. Thanks a lot Andrew, i enjoy with your videos.

Watched this episode again as it was another great episode that needed to be enjoyed once more. I remember owning this particular laptop w/ the i7 740qm cpu, 8gb ram, GTX460m and 1TB hard drive. It served me well for many years. It’s amazing how long Intel stuck with their 4-core / 8-thread design …..great thing AMD changed this!
The amount of patience, knowledge and efforts you put into this is mind boggling! I am not into refurbished products, but if you did the refurbishing i ll buy it 100% !

The RGB fan in me was frustrated that he painted over the Alienware heads eyes, so that the RGB didn't flow through. but meh its still rocked out! I have and restored a Alienware M17R4 currently it has a Quadro gpu cause I could not find a reasonably priced original 980 gtx to put back in it, the one I have was broken in half who ever owned it dropped it out a window or something I was told. so much damage took for ever to restore it. Love watching Cat because sometimes I learn something. Thanks for the videos Cat!

The color is super nice. I would call it "galaxy" because the paint look like an astroid in space. Very fit with alien theme. Nice upgrade. Love it

You make a lot of upgradable and modded old laptops i know even its old in today standard but those old laptop is still have a valuable technology in their era this is why i always watching every laptop videos you upload. And learn every part when it comes for new aesthetic mod to make look like brand new.

I had that same laptop with the gtx 460m graphics card and the card was very unstable since new. After years of suffering and trying everything i randomly underclocked the gpu and everything was great for a couple of years untill the mobo died. Great video!
I have one of these with a i7-920XM and a GTX 970M 6GB, still a beast even in 2021 🔥
(btw, you can overclock the screen up to 120hz 😁)

I have this exact same Alienware model brought in 2011 and mine still fine to this day, great job for bringing back this beast to life and that updated looks is awesome!!.

It's an insane work. Respect. The golden parts with black dots look like they are made of gold metal. Also the black parts with golden dots look like made of marble. All in all this laptop has a very unique overall effect. Gongrats to this.

Great job. The M15x is a temperamental laptop, I'd love to see how you repaired the motherboard issue. I should have a spare SSD caddy if you really need one. I also have a 920XM, if you want to max it out. A 770M, 780M or even 970M would have been a good choice and they only need a modded driver.

I still remember how bad I felt once the hinge broke and Dell outright refused to fix it. But great idea! Should try to revive mine too

I have the same laptop I almost upgraded everything in it can handle even unofficial components like gpu I upgrad it from gtx 260m to gtx 970M and it's works very nice...and the cpu from i7 720qm to i7 x920 2.00Ghz...this laptop is a masterpiece I never regret buying it that day before 8 years I think? But compared to laptops nowadays in terms of price and lifetime...Alienware m15x was a good deal 👍
