I didn't respect the lyrics to Straight tequila night until recently. Anyone who has this pain knows it. It is a beautiful song about healing and the long road to emotional recovery.
Instead of these guys all copying each other about lifted trucks, chicks, dirt roads and beer. Gay. They also try to copy rap/RMB music too much and talk in half the song instead of actually singing. New Country blows my balls.
There's still good music being made. Never gonna be another Townes Van Zandt or John Prine but there's a Zach Bryan, Colter Wall, Sturgill Simpson, Mason Jennings, Todd Snider, etc... Defeatism and nostalgia is nothing but something to cry about. Open your teary eyes and stop crying about it. You probably weren't that cool back then either. When you say "they don't make nothing good anymore", you should include yourself in that and add that you never did.
It’s funny because when I was in high school in the early 90’s my dad & grandpa was saying this ain’t country. Compared to today it is straight up country. It don’t get no more country
Ahh. Blow it out your ass son. You must be a damn youngun. Don't know what real country music is. You don't have to be so rude on your comment about other people's opinion. 🤬@@turdferguson2982
First time I heard it was driving to work at the wonderful time of 3:30 in the morning. DJ said here's a new one from John Anderson. I kinda laughed thinking back to "Swangin'" and thinking what this time. The song came on and within 5 seconds I was like.... WHOA WHOA, what is THIS? Did some checking at Record Bar and found out I had completely whiffed on Seminole Wind. Bought the CD on sight.
So do I. I think in later years, the title song, "Seminole Wind" became the defining, signature song of Anderson's career, but back then, "Straight Tequila Night" was the big hit.
it wasn't posted till 2018... you were among the first couple thousand views... feel better, it's up to 10k... patience is a virtue, virtue signalling is not...
Straight meth, molly, and robitussin dm mixed with grain alcohol and ginger ale.... What are we doing here? Fucking girl drinks? If you don't party like this you should just go to your church ice cream social and leave the night to the wolves. Tear in your beer ass fuckboyz.
I thought of this song a few weeks ago. I love country music always have. I’m an African American woman and I’ve always loved different genre’s of music. I loved Johns voice. Very distinctive❤️ I love many country music artists just like I love blues, hip hop, Gospel, zydeco, jazz, reggae, pop, and much more✅

In my opinion John is the most underrated under appreciated country star there is. A true legend. Maybe the greatest voice in country music history. A great vocalist, musician, songwriter.
I heard this song yesterday on a radio and now I cant stop listening it! So, hello from 2021!))) John, thanks very much for this amazing song! Im 28 and I love country music 😌❤️🔥

I can remember hearing this song on the radio laying block on a Verizon substation third shift around 2 a.m. on a warm summer morning, What good memories.....
I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a couple of weeks, underwent surgery to get my thyroid removed... when the anesthesiologist was injecting me something... she said it'll feel like a cocktail, I said I don't know I'm a tequila girl. She started singing bits of this song, and now I'm hooked.
i usually don't throw a thumb up for anyone who literally asks for one, in fact i usually throw one down... but you got me with this one... i've been there... it wasn't pretty... i'm a 5'6 140# man that doesn't like to hit girls, even if they hit me first, she was a 6' 200# waitress i worked with that was on lithium and didn't give a fuck!!! and we went out for some drinks... it wasn't f'in' pretty...
Picture this eating supper in a smaller size BBQ restaurant in Joplin, Mo. One weekend. It had a dance floor, we noticed a band setting up to play, as we drank another Bud, no cover change. As the band warmed up in walks the man, John Anderson and they played, he sang , Straight Tequila Night, it was number one on the country charts that week, you bet my wife and I danced to it , right in front of John, i could have and should have shook his hand, no shit. I told my wife something like this will never happen again. Thanks for the memories, John
We went and saw John perform years later at Buffalo Run casino, Miami, Okla. Still great. Love to see him again, sometime soon, we are not getting any younger. Lol.
I remember vividly when i first heard & recorded this song on cassette tape yes cassette tape i played this song so much everyday the cassette tape broke. ☹️ oh dont worry i made another & broke that one too. I couldn't get enough of this it was like i had to play it over & over again. When i drink beer & whiskey i crank this up full blast!

Right lol. There’s a 90% chance that you can find Seminole Wind, Black Sheep, or this song on one channel or another at any given time.
It’s funny considering he is a Florida boy 😂
Really? I haven't listened to the radio in a decade or better, but I wouldn't have thought so
I miss the days when country music was still country music.

These old songs take me back to my childhood. My mom would listen to them on the radio. She's 72 now and getting feeble. Brings back good memories.
John anderson is one of countrys treasures. He got recognition but nowhere near what he deserves.A gentleman and a true country artist.
My cousin Cole Chaney is opening up for him here in Kentucky!! Yes, yes I’m jealous af 😂😂😩😩

1992 John Anderson made a huge comeback with this song and the Seminole Wind album, I remember like it was yesterday!

Yeah, sadly country really has gone down hill for the most part.
Better than that Morgan wallen bullshit, like rap and country 😂😂😂😂

Word!
John Anderson was one of the best pure country voices and talents in Country Music, but because he did not have model looks he was not marketed as much, but he is one of my favorites
I seriously doubt that part about the marketing / reason.
I doubt his looks had anything to do with it. Toby Keith looks like a rhino and he has sold over 40 million records.
Garth didn't exactly have model looks.
