Almost 30 years ago I was on a bus in Korea heading to Camp Casey. We were all just young soldiers in the Army. This song came on and my friend (picture a 6'4" muscular black guy) stood up and started singing beautifully and word for word. Everyone else joined in. I wasn't homesick anymore. I'll never forget that day. Great song.

My husband of 43 years passed away in August, 2021. This wasn't necessarily "our" song but both of us felt strongly about the message . Yesterday, I was in the Texas Roadhouse feeling sad and depressed. I don’t listen to country music but this song began to play when I was feeling so very, very low. I believe in the recognizing of signs from our loved ones who have passed away. I KNOW this was Jim's way of putting his arms around me to comfort me. He has 'come' to me before in various ways. @@kennethconner7120 Thank you! Yes, he is with GOD and I can "feel" him close by. Then, two days ago, i lost one of my grand daughters! She fought a long hard battle to live, since birth. She is finally at rest in GOD's arms. She would have been 40 next month.
Oh my gosh same it is like my great grandpa dedicated it to my great grandma but he does not know that she is not here anymore due to his memory loss but he always talks about her and asks where she is I swear I am crying 😢 right now😔
My husband and I danced to this at our wedding almost 29 years ago. We have been happily married since then and are actually high school sweethearts. ♥️♥️ We are separated on Valentine’s Day this year in 2021 because I need to care for a family member so we are sending each love other songs that have been important to us over our 35 years together and this is definitely one of them!!! This song still makes me smile; it brings me back to our wedding in 1992. ♥️ Amen

I just want to say thank you Randy. I will be celebrating 12 years on the 9th (been married one year on March 17th)with my husband and I'll never forget my pops introducing me this song when i was a child. So for the last 10 years me and my hubby play this song and dance and take a shot of our choice, because to us your songs mean the world to me. But I also want to say thank you. I didn't hear any of your songs since my pops passed away in 2018 and when it came through today while I was cleaning brought tears to my eyes so thank you Randy ❤

@@gfys756Strange a lot of commenters are saying that. A lot of reggae songs were covers of country music, so a lot of Jamaicans were raised on it, myself included. I love this song❤❤
The best compliment for this artist would be this comment section where people are missing their loved ones because of this song. I to missed my childhood, my sisters, my mother and father where all of us were together. I a not even white or speak English or a European…
This was my Mom and Dads song!! Dad used to sing along and dance across the room toward her and give her a kiss!! Played it at their 50th wedding anniversary! 💕They were married for 67 years before they passed away within three months of each other! It’s been 11/12 years and I still miss them everyday, but I know one day we will all be together in heaven!! 💕🙏🏼
Good parental upbringing memories are a MAJOR stabilizer in life. Glad this song resonates with you on that level. We all have similar songs that encapsulate unforgettable moments.

I met Randy years ago, when he came to Vicksburg, MS. I asked him if I could get a hug and he said, "why sure". I always loved his music so my heart almost melted, when I got that hug!!! God bless him forever and ever, Amen!!!
This song has always reminded me of my Grandma and Grandpa. At his funeral, they played recordings of the love songs he wrote and sent my grandmother when he was over seas in World War 2. As he ran around Africa with General Patton and then later, stormed Utah Beach in Normandy, he always had time to write my grandma love songs. Even after their passing 36 years ago, this song still stirs vivid memories of their love when I hear it. Great song and great memories.
I found a pit bull in the street (already had 3), and fell in love with him instantly. As soon as he saw me he ran over, jumped into my car, then crawled into my lap and fell asleep (all 70 lbs of him). I took him to the vet to check for a chip and he had none. As we were driving away from the vet, I turned the radio on and the last chorus of this song was playing "I'm gonna love you, forever and ever, forever and ever, forever and ever...". At that point, it was still not decided whether we were going to keep the dog, but hearing those words, it hit me just how special this dog was to me. Well, long story short, almost a year later and he is sitting beside me as I write this. To this day, this is "our" song (yes, I realize only I am capable of appreciating that :P)
I remember when this was on American top 40 and Kasi Kasim told a story of how this song lifted up a little girl that was going through chemotherapy how she had lost her hair and how the line "I don't care I'm not in love with your hair" gave her hope. Still sits in my head rent free. 46 now and I'll be happy if I lose my memories but held onto that one when this song plays
My husband always said he would love me forever. We played this song at our 50th wedding anniversary. I lost him six months later. I will love him forever and ever Amen
This was my wedding song, we got married in 2022, and I tear up every time I hear this song now. My goal now is to learn it on guitar so I can surprise my wife and sing it for her on our upcoming anniversary 😊

I'm a 40 yr old black woman and my Daddy was a country music geek. He used to sing this song when i would go scraping with him. Good old country living... country ain't inclusive as much as many think, its a loving lifestyle that endures. Cheers friend.
For a lesson for the students in my after-school program, I was searching for a music video I could show that talks about love (for valentines day) and I remembered this song. I'm not a big fan of Randy Travis, a little too country for me, but this song is beautiful. It makes me want to cry because of its sincerity. I wish for love like this.
I was a navy seal and I had all 16 men in my platoon singing this song in a twisted distorted way we even named one of our secret missions the title of this song it was music like this that made me feel part of a brotherhood knowing some of us wouldn't make it back And only Left with the memories of us singing this song... God bless you all..

@@brianbrown366 Country music is changing and evolving, in the most part, in a bad direction. There are a handful or two of good current country singers but they aren't really played on the radio. Pop country has taken over the scene.
Why I love Randy Travis - This is a longish story… When I was a young Cadet at the Virginia Military Institute I had a wonderful opportunity to march in George H. W. Bush’s inaugural parade (Millard Fillmore Here!). We were still in uniform later that evening at the inaugural ball and some of us were asked to help with security. I drew one of two peach assignments of standing bodyguard for the talent just before they went on stage. There were two entries and two exits on each side of the stage. While one act was performing, the other following act would wait at the opposite entry. Some of the stars that waited with me were very nice and cordial to the fans, and some were not. Perhaps the biggest star on the ticket turned out to be a complete jerk to the fans. I was one of his biggest fans until that evening. I was able to meet and briefly chat with half of the stars as they waited their turn to go on stage. The other half passed in front of me as they exited, but none of them did anything more than wave at the crowd as they made a hasty exit. Randy Travis entered on the opposite side of the stage and was one of the stars that passed in front of me as he exited. Unlike the other stars, he seemed happy to pause and shake hands with people lining the exit tunnel. A woman leaned over the railing when he was literally halfway down the tunnel and shouted “We Love You Randy!” At that point he turned around came back up the tunnel to make sure he told that woman face to face that he loved her too and stood several minutes talking with her and other fans. It was just a few minutes, but that woman almost certainly has never forgotten the “hour or two” that she spent talking with Randy Travis. He was so down to earth and genuinely kind in his comments to her and the other fans. I shook hands with him (his hands are HUGE!!) but didn’t think to get a picture. I am an African American male who had ZERO interest in country music at a time when Rap music was king and New Jack Swing was just coming into its own. Hard to believe, but I have listened to Randy Travis for all of my adult life now…and I am nearing 50. I hope someday to meet Randy Travis again in person to thank him for a life-changing experience. There are a lot of people out there (Black and White) who like me dismissed country music and country music fans as throwbacks to a darker time in American history. One man’s kindness to a fan at an event where other “stars” were carrying themselves like petulant children forced me to see an important truth about people - who you are as a person on the inside will always show through the glitter on the outside - who you truly are trumps everything else whether you like it or not - and there is nothing you can do about it except stay who you are or work to become a better person. I am not White, I am not conservative, but I am a proud Randy Travis fan!!! I
Wow. I just read this entire thing and it is a truly touching story. I haven't been a huge fan of country music myself, but this song popped into my head so I had to listen to it. Now I think I may need to listen to Randy Travis a bit more. Anyway, Thanks for sharing your story. 🌹
Thank you for sharing this. It's nice to know there are still sensitive and caring men in the world and not just Mr. Travis. God Bless you and thank you for your service.
I think my dead son, just sent me this song. I was walking and listening to "Come Now is The Time to Worship" and talking to my son. All of a sudden this song comes on, I don't even have it on my iPod. I know this is about woman and man but some of the words can be for parent and child. People may think I am crazy but I know what happened.
So sorry you lost your son, what a terrible tragedy, but sounds like you shared a lot of love. I hope the good memories keep you heart warm in the future. My Mum died a number of years ago and athough I'm not religious I SWEAR I feel her presence. Sometimes I imagine myself beside her and it feels like she is with me, it feels real. They never really leave us. He is clearly living in your heart. Sorry again for your loss, I have children and cannot imagine the loss....Bless you, take care, and stay safe please. I have a song that reminds me of my Mum too, one I listened to a few weeks after her death as for many weeks just needed total silence, could not stand any music, but a song on Eva Cassidy's album was the first I played. Her music is so soulful, transcendental and spoke to my heart back then. I still sometimes cry when I hear that song by her, it reminds me of my loss, but in a good way, if that makes any sense ? Hope you have support in your grief. Good luck and take care. Your son was lucky to have been so loved.🤗🤗
I believe it was your son. You were gifted with a moment that most never get, Most hope for a second chance for closure. I hope this song gave you the closure that you needed. And please know that your son got his closure too. God Bless You, and yours. Amen

It was so bad when Randy had his stroke . Odds are , my name is Randy . I had a stroke in 2016 , did 3 months rehad to help me walk and talk . Was doing good and then had a second stroke in 2017 . Had to go through it all over again . Just 48 years old . Changed my life forever . Yes he does. One of my all time favorite country music singers. I pray one day he will be able to sing again. Watching him struggle to just speak is heart wrenching :(
I saw this song performed by some of country music's finest tonight during the CMA's. It brought me to tears when Randy sang at the end. Absolutely beautiful moment. I'll never forget it.
it really is. I hope he'll heal fully soon and be back to singing and writing music again. it's a shame that a beautiful voice like his is silenced by something like this.
Try and think about it this way, from what I read he had a very small chance of surviving at all. It's a miracle he's walking and talking and singing. I'm sure he worked very hard to be able to do that again. He's an awesome person and I wish him all the best.
Not a big country or love song guy, but this is a real sweet song. Personally, never found that special someone, but this song always reminds me of my Mom and Dad. That's really how they felt about each other, and I always thought that was awesome. My Mom passed away a little short of their 38th anniversary. Sept 14th their anniversary happens to be my birthday, will always be bittersweet. I cherish everyday I still have with my Dad, and I love that he'll love my mom "forever and ever,amen"...

lisa boss I became engaged last month woooohooo yay!! Im so happy. My fiancee is from Las Vegas and he came over for my birthday and as a present, he surprised me by buying me the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen. It's beautiful. I am from Ireland... "I love you my sweetheart David, I love you sooooo much.".

A year ago, I broke free of an abusive relationship. For five years, I thought I would never have a chance to see what real love tastes like. But six months ago, I met a new person, and we started going out. And throughout his life, I was the first person who stole his heart. Yesterday, he sang this song to me on our ride. Today, I took my time to listen to it again and read the lyrics. Now I can't stop my tears. I have never been so loved before.
When I was at the lowest point in my life I met this boy who swept me off my feet and showed me this song...my whole life I never thought I would find a man who treated me like this song, I thank the Lord everyday for bringing him in my life ❤️
And I can’t rap my head around how a person with a voice like that would have to go through a stroke and have it ripped away like that just so tragic and just so so sad 😭😢
I've never been married. I want to be. But, our world is different now...., but if its God will for me, I'll welcome it. I'm old school... and this song entails my intention to my bride. A blessing she will be & gift from my Savior.

♥️ Amen

These are the beautiful little stories I enjoy to read. God bless their souls. God is the true judge.
I understand and appreciate it!!
Very nice!
This song is timeless. It never gets old no matter how many times I hear it.

It’s very unfortunate that country isn’t made like this anymore. This was when country was actually country. I could listen to this 1000 times
Some singers now, are like this. Very few, sadly. You really should check out Josh Turner's music, if you haven't.
`1000 times...I think I have. LOL
I disagree. Everything changes and evolves
I’m getting close

I think my dead son, just sent me this song. I was walking and listening to "Come Now is The Time to Worship" and talking to my son. All of a sudden this song comes on, I don't even have it on my iPod. I know this is about woman and man but some of the words can be for parent and child. People may think I am crazy but I know what happened.
im sorry for your loss maam, he will be always with you never forget that
So sorry you lost your son, what a terrible tragedy, but sounds like you shared a lot of love.

Hello how are you doing
Lyrics: You may think that I'm talkin' foolish
You've heard that I'm wild and I'm free
You may wonder how I can promise you now
This love that I feel for you always will be
But you're not just time that I'm killin'
I'm no longer one of those guys
As sure as I live, this love that I give
Is gonna be yours until the day that I die
Oh, baby, I'm gonna love you forever
Forever and ever amen
As long as old men sit and talk about the weather
As long as old women sit and talk about old men
If you wonder how long I'll be faithful
I'll be happy to tell you again
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen
They say time takes its toll on a body
Makes the young girls brown hair turn gray
But honey, I don't care, I ain't in love with your hair
And if it all fell out, well, I'd love you anyway
They say time can play tricks on a memory
Make people forget things they knew
Well, it's easy to see, it's happenin' to me
I've already forgotten every woman but you
Oh, darlin', I'm gonna love you forever
Forever and ever amen
As long as old men sit and talk about the weather
As long as old women sit and talk about old men
If you wonder how long I'll be faithful
Well, just listen to how this song ends
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen

This was the first love song I really ever heard. It's also the song that taught me how to love a person, and to me it is the song that, should I ever get married, I'd like to dance with my bride with.
How love should be! I like what you wrote. It's the way to be. Hard to find. But, it can happen with the right person it's all about faith. ☺️☺️
lisa boss I became engaged last month woooohooo yay!! Im so happy. My fiancee is from Las Vegas and he came over for my birthday and as a present, he surprised me by buying me the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen. It's beautiful. I am from Ireland... He secretly rang up the radio company and asked to play this very song, and he gave me the box with the ring in it, and when the words "Im gonna love you, forever and ever" came up....he got on his knees and proposed to me. "I love you my sweetheart David, I love you sooooo much.".
William Fowler G-D Bless You to find your fated wife, the other half of you.
Greetings from Israel
I am female....not male

Love these classics from Randy Travis! My husband and I just celebrated our anniversaries, 13 yrs married, 17 yrs together. Love that man more than anything. ❤
God I wish people could still make songs like this
Robby Russell They worry about profit, not putting their heart and soul into it
Me tooooo, btw he lives a 10 min drive away from me and i met him
Mike Hawk who?
Robby Russell I still want good ol’ traditional country songs

Lyrics
You may think that I'm talkin' foolish
You've heard that I'm wild and I'm free
You may wonder how I can promise you now
This love that I feel for you always will be
But you're not just time that I'm killin'
I'm no longer one of those guys
As sure as I live, this love that I give
Is gonna be yours until the day that I die
Oh, baby, I'm gonna love you forever
Forever and ever amen
As long as old men sit and talk about the weather
As long as old women sit and talk about old men
If you wonder how long I'll be faithful
I'll be happy to tell you again
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen
They say time takes its toll on a body
Makes the young girls brown hair turn gray
But honey, I don't care, I ain't in love with your hair
And if it all fell out, well, I'd love you anyway
They say time can play tricks on a memory
Make people forget things they knew
Well, it's easy to see, it's happenin' to me
I've already forgotten every woman but you
Oh, darlin', I'm gonna love you forever
Forever and ever amen
As long as old men sit and talk about the weather
As long as old women sit and talk about old men
If you wonder how long I'll be faithful
Well, just listen to how this song ends
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen

@@staceysemail2832 You're welcome 🙏😊
My grandpa sang this song to my grandma on their wedding day 30 years ago, miss you grandma
Dang sorry for your loss
Miss them
A year ago, I broke free of an abusive relationship.
I dont usually listen to country music, but this song is just so beautiful ❤
Hello 👋
Same here. Just heard this for the first time this evening and I’ve been playing it over and over what a beautiful song.
Amen
This song made my mom fell in love with country
Same here😂
The most simple, pure and perfect love song ever written in my view.
A song that just CANT be beat and will stand the test of time Forever and Ever. Much love to the man, Mr. Randy Travis
When I was at the lowest point in my life I met this boy who swept me off my feet and showed me this song...my whole life I never thought I would find a man who treated me like this song, I thank the Lord everyday for bringing him in my life ❤️
Hello how are you doing today s😊s
Every time i listen to this song i think of my dad, He used to sing this to me when i was younger. I miss you dad and i love you!
U can still tell ur daddy that u love him. Angles will hear u. My angles do.
This song is like the warm hug that you needed
Exactly
So true so true indeed
I REALLY LOVE THE WAY YOU COME ACROSS, YOU SOUND LIKE AN AWESOME PERSON, SUCH A NICE "COMMENT". CHEERS!!!!!!!!!!
So dam true can’t even explain it
And I can’t rap my head around how a person with a voice like that would have to go through a stroke and have it ripped away like that just so tragic and just so so sad 😭😢
2021 and Im gonna love this song forever, forever and ever, amen
Amen

I've noticed a lot of 2021 people going to 90s music. It's because the media is trash.
Mee too🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
Same though. Love randy! I've seen him on tik tok. He's verified. No 🧢
I've never been married. I want to be. But, our world is different now...., but if its God will for me, I'll welcome it. I'm old school... and this song entails my intention to my bride. A blessing she will be & gift from my Savior.
This song never gets old...it ages like fine wine...💜💕💜
You're sure right about that Ebony!😃
even fine wine has deadline
Forever and ever amen...
I agree with you
Absolutely
My dream wedding is my husband singing this to me. I am 54. It is still possible
Yes it is! Love is made for everyone
Stay single it’s not worth the risk
Yes it's possible, God will fulfil your heart desires
I am sure it's possible
It's always possible! It'll happen when you're not even lookin' for it! Wishing you all the very best! Coming from a 64 year old man, who's found his last hoorah, for the 3rd time, and going on 20 years! So yes, there's hope for you darlin'! 😊
Randy is a gift.
I'm very glad we didn't lose him in 2013
Amen Hallelujah100...
@Caitilyn Scott He had a stroke. Had to relearn how to walk, talk and sing. He can't play guitar anymore because one of his hands isn't completely functional.
I’m absolutely shattered..
2.5 years later.. 💔
It’ll never be okay..
What happened?
