I have found them to be more bass heavy than some others like the hyperx cloud II, both are great headphones. I prefer the a50s for wireless and that battery life is insane
The HyperX wireless have a 30 hour battery life and the RIG800 is 25 hours. The RIG700 is 15 hours. I love the CloudAlpha, serious drivers.

I just recently bought these, and I can attest to the battery life, comfort level, and sound quality- but ONE thing that is driving me crazy and going to cause me to return or maybe RMA my brand new set is the breaking of connection leading to sound cutting in and out. Constantly- no matter how I delete and download drivers or reset the program I'm using. My dock is literally right next to where I sit to game... and for 300 USD I can't phanthom dealing with this issue anymore.
I hoped for a microphone test.
Just got these yesterday. Love the comfort, the bass is great, the Dolby sound is fantastic, but outside noise bleed and the mic has unfortunately has a static response once used even after the firmware update
Buy the noise cancelling kit It makes a huge difference.
@@justmj9226 The noise-cancelling microphone kit is only for the Astro A40. The A50's mic is not detectable.
@@justmj9226 If you are talking about the ear pads, then they are not noise cancelling. Leather ear pads do help to block out noise better than the foam, but they are not noise cancelling tho.

Dude I got them and the dolby sound sounds like I'm in a tunnel... I use the preset settings (the one called astro) I had to ask my friend for his custom settings for it to sound better but even then... I should not have to do that. I am personally going to return them and keep my hyperx cloud 2. The astros feel cheaper.
Traded my steel series in for these and got them at $150 at target and they are outstanding, best headset I've ever had

@K C For PS5, you need an adapter if you want game balance and proper audio quality. PS5/XSX has no digital audio out
The only negative I can speak of is. The center head cushion, Located between the two ear phones. Keeps breaking free and coming loose. They seriously need to come up with a much better design to attach that center cushion. sad part is I cannot find a replacement part for just the center head cushion. However, it is still a great gaming head set.
I remember paying $300 for them about 2years ago for PS4 workers really good. I just build my PC a month ago to date and the headset also works for PC. But I’m unable to perform the updates from command center it stops about 25% through then fails...I also had Turtle Beaches for about $100 for PS4 those are also good for your every day gaming.
Download the command centre again through they're website. I had the same problem but it worked after redownloading
If you downloaded the commanded centre from the Microsoft store and it fails the update , download the programme from Astro's website instead
@@MrVigilante1994 I will try that out. I tried about 30min to download the update but it kept failing . Finally after uninstalled and reinstalled the command center from Microsoft it updated my headphones. But the base still fails to update... i removed the inside ear cups to make sure it sits properly i think that helped my headphones get updated. They still work perfectly on PC even tho the base isn’t up to date.

@@kb6299 i believe that there is a setting in astro command center where you can set the mic into different modes. My friend found that the “home” mode or the “night” mode sounds better.
Lol I just bought mine after my old turtle beaches broke
Almost exactly a year after having them, I wouldn’t recommend them. I could tell a slight difference in noise quality between these and my old Turtlebeach stealths... but it wasn’t significant enough to warrant the price. Also, my mic no longer works as of last week. What I’ve learned 1. Cordless, 2. Atleast 40mm drivers, and 3. Not more than $130 USD. Everything else is insignificant.

Yes these are easily worth 150-200 USD for sure, I feel stupid having been led by all the good reviews to think this set was worth the price. My 120 Turtle beaches to me felt better but they weren't wireless, that's the only reason I wanted to upgrade
Love this headset but I don’t like how much outside noise it picks up I can here my fan and even me breaking or if my volume is to loud people I play with can here an echo..
I have a razer kraken pro headset and it does the same thing,I’ve had them for two years and I’m just recently starting to have problems with them,I’m finally deciding to invest in some astros this Christmas.
Maybe sounds odd, but good to read this, as that is exactly what I am looking for. (I feel a bit claustophobic if I cannot hear myself breathe etc.) I want to go wireless but still maintain the open-back feel the A40s have. Considering A50s are technically closed back I was hoping it still maintained that 'open-back' feel, which I guess reading your comment, it does?

Does anyone else have an issue with the astro a50 voice setting sounding better than the astro a50 game setting on sound?? I would just stick with the voice setting but I can hear myself when I set the audio out to that.
The Astro Command Centre software bricked my Astro A50 during a firmware update. I did everything I was told. Headset on the base station exactly and hit update. It failed, and that was the last time I was able to use them. Luckily I was able to return them for a refund. Won't be going back. This issue is very common btw.
Does anyone know if the ear muffs go over the ear?

Switch to xbox mode. If you got the ps4 version i dont know what to do. Try pluggibg in the opt/in cable to the xbox. Make sure to have the mic facing forward. You must also fix some settings in the beginning i believe. But i have ps4 soo..

I got these to replace my RIG 800XL. honestly I think the sound and is much more clear on my RIGs. Is there a special setting on the audio that you use? Because the sound on the Astro is very boomy
There are 3 EQ settings. you can change the settings on Mac or PC if you have the Astro command center installed

They sound like trash on next gen consoles unless you are using an hdmi extractor. Unfortunately, when you use an extractor, you loose video output options. If you are on last gen consoles, and don’t plan on upgrading any time soon, then I would buy these. (A40’s are $199 right now).

@@davemorris661 The PS5 doesn’t have variable refresh rate, so it’s not a problem. When you use the extractor on a series x, you will not have the option to use variable refresh rate.
How is the sound compared to larger drivers?

If the setting to charge is on in the settings. Sure vos it's still giving power to the base
they sound amazing but mine doesn't work wirelessly anymore. It just stopped working wirelessly out of nowhere. I tried everything, but it still has the same issue. If the one you buy doesn't have these issues, its overall a great headset.
I was under the impression a50s can only be used wirelessly you can charge and play wirelessly but it won’t work as a wiredconnection

No they have different ones for pc, Xbox and PlayStation
Actually regardless which one you get it will work with PC. There is a switch on the back, but if you want it to work with both consoles too you have to but another dock for $100.
Why does the base station remain powered on even after doing a full shutdown on the xb1 console???????

Even if you don’t have the headset physically on the base station and it’s off, the base station will forever remain powered on. On the ps4 version, if console is off, base station is off. As it should be
I have found with this headset that when i connect a usb to charge it after a few mins it just falls out i can’t charge it with a cable

Wack son, even pro gamers won’t game for 16 hours in a row, shower go outside for a bit, exercise, and your headset will always be fully charged. Why would I want to spend more money and have to worry about batteries on a high end headset already? Good thing your purchase won’t make a difference

I have a very low audio issue with these on xbox that I cant seem to fix. I've tried a lot of the suggestions I've seen online. Not really sure what to do. My software is updated and everything. Tried to reset the game/chat balance by holding down the dolby button and game button. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
try going Into the xbox sound settings and make sure the headset volume is at max. so hit the xbox button on controller, then go all the way down to the bottom right you'll see a speaker icon click that and make sure the top option is on max volume then the second option make sure is a 50/50 split for game chat balance.

What angers me is the fact that there's no Bluetooth functionality for $400 I mean come on!!!! For $400 it should be able to connect to anything under the sun as far as a gaming headset nothing tops it except for the steel series arctis nova pro
theres a swich on the back so i only use 1 base station for my pc/ps5. for gen 5 l like to see better quilty speakers my first pair of astro a 50 gen 4 poped a speaker due to high bass so the speakers aint that great (with that said a ordered another pair of astro a50 4gen. and being able to turn the eco system off in the software could be nice as i for my selv never use it and dislike when it turns off useing my phone or somthing

@@AbdullahFaisalA They have a splitter so it will work with the ps5 just fine but I am sure in a year or 2 the next model will be out that won't need it. It's really up to you.

My brother has the Arctis 7 (pretty much same as 7P), and they're fine. The A50s are probably better sounding, but more open-backed so you have noise bleeding, while the Arctis are very much closed back, blocking out lots of outside noise.
Mic on the Arctis is likely better too.
The only reason we I won't get these is because of the battery is so trash my arctis pro wireless is 20 hours and the A50 is 15 come on now

I bought A40’s 5 years ago and that happened right away with my fat head but they only just started buzzing and none of my friends pairs have had a single issue period
@Jay _TooGoated Everything is working except the chat mixer on the base stand doesn't work on the PS5, you'll have to do it on PS5 menu, and also the Astro EQs won't work since the PS5 3D audio gets prioritized over the Astro's, except all of those it works right out of the box.
@Jay _TooGoated Honestly 3D audio works with anything even the apple earbuds, i sold my A50s cause it keeps disconnecting with the base stand which is annoying for the price, now i'm using the Arctis 7p from Steelseries and i'm happy with it, i can recommend the Razer blackshark v2 pro and HyperX cloud ii wireless
i don't know about the pulse 3D but from the reviews all i've been seeing is positive so far and it's the cheapest.

Can someone tell me if they’re bad at noise canceling or not? And does it actually feel like it’s holding onto your head ? Or does it feel like those cheap headsets where they’re not really on you and easily fall off or the sound isn’t as loud or close to your ears
So it all is gonna depend on your head size obviously, but they are easily the most comfortable headset I have had. Half the time I forget I am even wearing them. I have a big head and they don't feel like they clamp hard at all and everyone I have let use them loves the fit. The mic isn't the best at blocking background noise and the stock cups are only fairly good at blocking outside audio. I never notice my jet engine ps4 with them on though if that gives you an indication.

Had a pair of these for ONE day before the firmware failure bricked them. LOL DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK THEYRE CLOWNIN' FOR $300. You can buy Rig 700HX and still play just as well.

It was gen 2, the mic doesn't work if it's not straight but other than that the headset works fine.
I could even change out the earpads (which were noticably used and flattened) and buy new more comfortable ones for another 10-20, as much as the headset itself but still means getting the headset for only 30-40.
I still use it today. I got an arctis 7 for a while after, but returned it as it wasnt worth it.

I’m about to return my a50s tomorrow. They’re not worth it. They’re the most comfortable, but sound like some 50$ headsets. Comfort isn’t worth $250 to me lol you have to keep messing with the command center to find the right settings. Also they’re not good for sound whoring in Cod. You can’t hear where the footsteps are coming from. You can hear them, but can’t tell which direction, unless the map is all one level.
