Some people are saying James Gunn's Superman movie is going to be political based on some things he said at the premiere of the trailer. But if you read the full quotes, I think he's actually going to have a unifying message.
Believe me, I hate it when movies get political, but James Gunn seems to understand that now is the time to bring Americans of all ideologies back together.
What do you think? Will this be the most unifying Superman movie yet? Or am I way off base?

very well put. I hope the movie is like this.
You are not off base. I'm also looking forward to this movie now
I hope he doesn’t let us down 🤞🤞
I agree this is likely to be a great Superman movie but the greatest? I reckon the 1978 one is pretty untouchable. Can't wait for Gunn's DCU to unfold though. The MCU feels like it's done it's dash so it's great timing to bring this in.
I love 78 Superman, and I might be wrong, but I do think this one has the potential to be even better. We’ll see! I agree about Marvel, but I’m hoping they’ll find their way again before long. Fantastic Four will tell us a lot.
@@WhatsUpWOLF Yep and 2 weeks apart from Superman! Let the battle commence!
Artists are human beings, and no human being is entirely unbiased. However, the artistry lies in presenting a product infused with your soul, your point of view, and your message in a way that becomes a tool for both creation a tool for meaningful conversation. I believe we will see more and more projects centered on ideas that bring us together rather than driving us apart.
I hope so! Art that’s just a thinly veiled critique of current events isn’t as impressive or timeless as art that focuses on deeper, universal themes.
All art is political, and I would say I'm glad Gunn thinks about it more broadly than a "fringe right vs fringe left" thing. His inclusion of the police, white supremacists, corporations, and the army as villainous figures in recent works show that he's got a better head on his shoulders than that.
In my opinion, truly great art addresses deeper truths that transcend the moment it was created.
@@WhatsUpWOLF I don' think it's as straightforward as that. Some of the greatest works of art of all time are capturing a specific moment in time.
@@BluBoyscout it may capture a specific moment, but great art uses that moment to reveal something deeper and timeless that transcends politics.
@@WhatsUpWOLF Politics, in this case referring to the mechanisms in which people live and interact in/with society, is inseparable from art even if the audience or the creator isn't aware of it. Hell, even saying you prefer art to be "apolitical" or transcend politics in itself is a political statement! Our ideas of what are essential human elements deeper than base politics can only be imbued by our surroundings and our context.
@@BluBoyscout I’m not saying art can’t include politics, I’m saying great art should ultimately transcend politics. Like Watchmen or V for Vendetta.
I agree with most of this except for one part. Everyone who cuts me off is a jerk haha
Same here, I was lying when I said that 😂
