@mbanks156: ABSOLUTELY . There will be no other in this lifetime. I loved and adored him and his musical genius and entertainment excellence. Rest in peace ; the great Sammy DavisJunior . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵😢😭😭😭😢😢😭⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♥️
Just imagine this man was mikes biggest inspiration and showed him everything about showmanship and how to control the crowd to later one day do a tribute to mike himself wish I could travel to that time the birth of the greatest music
@wilfredojrpadilla3669. Then you absolutely have to hear him sing Don’t Get Around Much Anymore. The version from his album Sammy Swings with Duke Ellington and the Duke Ellington Orchestra. It’s absolutely as wild as a hard rock song with a great trumpet solo and his vocals are insanely strong and steady.
"My Hands Are Shaken!"....Who could have more fun with that line. Just incomparable. You get the feeling the crowd in Hamburg knows who's on the stage way back in 69.
The greatest entertainer of the 20th Century and the last! There are no entertainers anymore. Sam you could sing, dance, act and do the greatest impressions ever! You didn't need to yell and take off your clothes and have fire and smoke on the stage or anybody else for that matter. All you needed was the band. Thank You Sam for the pleasure of your company.
I believe in The Bible and the concept of Heaven, so...my first day there, I pray Sammy will be on stage performing THIS song because then...oh Lord...then, I'll KNOW for sure...I'm in...Heaven.
Today's culture needs to know about these greats. Thank God for You Tube which keeps legendary artists like SDJ alive in our consciences forever. I want to believe that a biopic is in the works ... who today could play Sammy?
One of the best things about technology. To see and hear this gem of a talent. I always thought Dionne owned this song but Sammy can take it too! Amazing rendition. Pure class.
I was lucky to see him maybe four times over the years when he was at his best. One time he stood in for a guy named Frank Sinatra. Frank had a touch of the flu and Sammy took the stage at Caeser's as a replacement. He was OUTSTANDING!!!!
Sammy, still in his prime. No better entertainer then, or now. I guess never again. Youngsters will never know this. Maybe in the 22nd century when they look back.
Joshua from ft Lauderdale FL, I was raised on real music, Sammy Davis Jr. One or the greatest performances, and style that even Michael Jackson pattern himself after, love you Sammy. Rip 🙏
This is such a cool, tight performance! It also has amazing visuals: the contrast, all the bling (lol), and I hate to mention how much the smoke adds visually. I really ought to make 1:35 a painting
This is Bill Wobel's wife leaving the comment. Sammy, wonderful performance of a classic by Bert Bacharach. One of my favorites. Sammy adds his special touch. Love it!
What a great singer. Hits his notes so musically and really sells it in a likable, natural way... My ears are sayin' YEAH (what a contradiction to say I also like Herb Alpert's version; but that's probably because it takes me back to the time when it was on the radio)
Smokin' like a chimney, holding a mic heavier than him and probably full of liquor, but still belting out that tune like nobody's business!! Is it any wonder Sammy, Frank, and Dean ruled the world in the 60s? They were not only the Kings of Cool,... they were Gods! Vegas and the rest of the world will never again know this kind of Cool!!
He was so popular--crazy popular but for those darn archaic rules about black people in general life was so difficult for all the black performers. He is break down some of those barriers with a little help from his friends--Rat Pack
How can a guy sing like that who smokes? Not only smokes, but he’s juggling a lit cigarette with the mic while snapping his fingers and singing. And his mic technique is fantastic. The mic indicates just how powerful his voice is. When a guy like this sings, he wants the sound of his loud notes - loud notes sound more intense than soft notes aside from the loudness itself - but he doesn’t want to blast the audience into next week, so he pulls the mic away from his mic for the loud notes. Look how far his mic goes and you can still hear him fine.
They don’t make music like this anymore. Come back, Sammy.
This right here is why I love TH-cam
Me too my friend ❤
This is PHENOMENAL. Even his snaps are next level.
I noticed that too.
He was exceptional. Its why Frank sinatra loved him so much
OMG this is the best version of this Bacharach classic. Sammy smolders.
VOICE, THE VOICE, THE VOICE. A GIFT TO THIS WORLD. GODBLESS AND REST YOU SAMMY DAVIS JR.
The coolest cat around, singer, dancer, actor, comedian and veteran. We miss you, Sir Sammy!

Wow, Sammy was magic. Open hearted and a pure talent. May he continue resting in peace. A legend.

Shaboing!
Hard to disagree.
Not only the most talented member in the Rat Pack, but the greatest entertainer the world has ever known!
So true, there was nothing Sammy D couldn't do, the real "voice" and talent of the Pack. That other guy, Frances Albert, he was ok too. 😊💖

Just imagine this man was mikes biggest inspiration and showed him everything about showmanship and how to control the crowd to later one day do a tribute to mike himself wish I could travel to that time the birth of the greatest music
I have no idea how golden this man's voice is.

By the way it’s here on TH-cam.
"My Hands Are Shaken!"....Who could have more fun with that line. Just incomparable. You get the feeling the crowd in Hamburg knows who's on the stage way back in 69.

There will never be another sammy davis jr.this man was the greatest entertainer that ever lived.
He actually inhaled a cigarette and kept singing...no coughing, no off timing, just good singing.
Yep and that's what killed him and he had no regret
What a performance! I look at it quite often, after I discovered this by Sammy Davis Jr.
Talent Personified!!
The Absolute Greatest Showman Ever!? HE'S TUFF ASF!?!?!
BRILLIANT!!! I love Herb Albert’s shy, soft, easy way and that is why I fell in love with this song-but❤ Sammy did it great justice 🤩🤩too!!
Today's culture needs to know about these greats. Thank God for You Tube which keeps legendary artists like SDJ alive in our consciences forever. I want to believe that a biopic is in the works ... who today could play Sammy?

Amazing rendition. Pure class.
And the cig...... makes this just so fabulously retro and cool......
I just wished he had stopped smoking so much...this is what took him from us☹
...and sadly took him away from us way too early, Nat King Cole too..
There is no one even comparable to him today. This kind of talent simply doe not exist anymore.
What a breathtaking performance! 😮
Sammy owns this song. The story telling is something else. Effortless.
So god dam cool
Another one of Sammy's masterpieces and everyone misses him. It"s amazing how these things have been preserved over the decades. THANKS!!!
Happy Birthday Sam! You would have been 96 today and still I think wowing them on stage. You were such a great entertainer.

Used to front for Frank Sinatra at The Hilton. And The Hilton would not let him check-in because he's "colored". Frank made The Hilton check him in.
He was so popular--crazy popular but for those darn archaic rules about black people in general life was so difficult for all the black performers. He is break down some of those barriers with a little help from his friends--Rat Pack

Wow...I see what you mean..
You should be doing liner notes.
😯😯 thanks for the explanation. The things we can miss that prove over and over again his vocal prowess, timing and feel.
