I went to the same High School as BJ , but different years. I used to see him in the County Fairs and around the local pool halls. Everybody knew that he was going to make it. His very first local hit was "Lazy Man". He, Roy Head and Kenny Rogers started at the same time. He had a very distant voice and I could identify immediately. I had just returned from Vietnam when "Hooked on a Feeling" came out and I was so proud to let everyone know that I knew him. I love all his music and will always remember him. RIP

I will be 60 at the end of this year, and I have loved BJ Thomas since I first heard him sing. Honestly, this is one of favorite songs and there are so many great versions. It strikes a balance between a little schmaltzy and heartfelt that few songs do.
Herb Alpert was not much of a singer, but he put some soul into it. Supposedly he was visiting Burt Bacharach for some new songs, and as he was leaving asked, “Are there any songs you like, but no one has ever picked it up?” Burt played this for him and Herb knew he had a hit.
BJ was great and Bacharach was great, too. I watched this video twice and the first time I saw it I was thinking how beautiful all the women were...it's the same woman in all the pix.
Life is so short and at times very sad. BJ, it seems that we just met you. Many thanks for all of your great music and for being a first rate gentleman. Rest In Peace my friend.
