@@melodyvines7172 This is his first win for a category he was nominated for (he's been nominated 9 times over the years). In 1993 he was an Emmy Hall of Fame honoree; so while this was not exactly his first Emmy, it was the first and only time he won an Emmy in a category where he was nominated against other people. I had to look it up because the voice over could be interpreted more that one way with how it was phrased.

Amazing that this was Bob's first Emmy win. When you consider the number of extremely average "players" that have won multiple Emmys, yet Mr Newhart only won 1? This just goes to show how ridiculous some of these awards are.

Bob's at the start of the EMMY snub line, which also includes Hugh Laurie for House and Martin Sheen for The West Wing.

I use to have a cat that was crazy about Bob Newhart. She’d watch the Newhart show and during ads she’d get up and walk around, but always come back when she heard him..

He is the best. Took my Dad to see him about 5 years ago. He still has it. Dad had tickets for the dad JFK was killed. I'm glad he finally got to see him in person.

Has anyone else played the "Bob" drinking game where you took a shot every time the cast said "Bob" in The Bob Newhart show. It was so often that you literally couldn't drink fast enough.

The British Engineer He did some of those sketches on the Dean Martin show, and it’s even funnier with Dean playing along. Watch the toupee sketch on You tube - it’s hilarious; “I’d like a straight man who didn’t laugh!”... “Are you sure you worked with Jerry?!” 🤣🤣
