    Daniel Day-Lewis has only done 11 feature-length films as a lead actor in his entire career, and has been nominated in the Best Actor category for 6 of them, with 3 wins. This man is truly incredible.

    • @clarebell5926
      @clarebell5926 5 ปีที่แล้ว +341

      I think she did - she wouldn't have taken that risk! Her glasses weren't on when she came out, but they were by the time the camera got back to her when she'd announced all the nominees, so that suggests she looked in the envelope whilst the camera was on the nominees. Imagine if it hadn't been Daniel Day Lewis's name in that envelope and she announced him as the winner! All hell would've broken loose lol (as we saw a few years later....)

    • @clarebell5926
      @clarebell5926 5 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @@connorw2k I can't imagine she would have taken that risk though! Yes, it was fully expected it would go to Daniel Day Lewis, but there is always going to be that small chance that someone else's name is in the envelope and it would just be too risky not to make absolutely sure! The alternative of course is that she'd already opened the envelope before coming out on stage and so knew whose name was in there, but if that were the case, why put her glasses on after announcing all the nominees? We don't see her at all when she is announcing all the nominees, so she had a good amount of time to put her glasses on and look then, but who knows eh? :)

    A lot say DDLs 2nd Oscar should've been for Gangs of New York, but I think Adrian Brody was definitely the right winner. His 2nd Oscar should've in fact been for In The Name of The Father, and him winning his prestigious 3rd for There Will Be Blood instead would've been all the more fitting, because I don't think you'll find a better lead performance than Daniel Plainview.
    I think he was amazing in Lincoln, but the rightful winner was without a doubt Joaquin Pheonix. He was absolutely incredible in The Master.

      Humble? Did you know that he had a relationship of 6 years with Isabelle Adjani and when he found out that she was pregnant he just left her? And more: he only went to see the son after he was born why he was busy with his love affair and didn't even give financial help to his son. In addition, he secretly married his current wife even though he had a girlfriend named Deya with whom he lived and the girl only went know well later and by third parties. Isabelle had a deep depression for everything he did in the relationship with cheating on her and leaving her pregnant and not to mention that practically little participated in the child rearing. I'm sorry, but, your humble idol has is nothing.

    I think Joaquin was probably having a moment thinking of his brother at that moment (and not being salty/rude at all!) We all have moments in life in which brings up a time of the past or memory when remembering a loved one & it hits hard sometimes! I honestly think he was thinking of River at that moment & just wishing he was there with him or how much he would trade all of his success or even that night of being nominated to have his brother back or even just one more day with him! To share this moment with!!!! I know I have gone through it before! you're still ecstatic and happy inside but at same time, remembering your loved one wishing & at least hoping theyre with you & watching you!! you get emotional! This year is his year!!!! 100%!!!!!!
