I was at a bad point in my life -- undiagnosed diabetes, actually no big deal, unless untreated -- and Craig, every night, made life worth living and gave me something to look forward to. The show was always a silly, f*ck it ROMP, but in the interviews, like with Newhart, he had an intuitive skill for finding the best in his guests and drawing it out -- simply by making them feel as at ease as the audience at home. Never saw him "muff" one. Greatness, Craig. Thanks.

Bob knew his humor, knew what was funny, and knew what he wanted. He had the number #1 on TV and no one recognized him but me. He looked at me with, oh no eyes aNd placed a Finger over his lips pleading not to say anything. I lip-synced ok. He just happened to know a guy from college who got into the radio business and when the guy was looking for guest for his show he recalled that Bob was always funny in school. So he invited Bob on his Chicago radio show and the rest is his as they say.

Thanks for the triple combo. What a hilarious ending to riff on the Newhart show. Thanks for all the work you have put into making these compilations.

Newhart and Rick les, along with Joan Rivers were my absolute favorites. They were so stinking funny. I remember when he hosted SNL in the early 90s and its when that song "you gotta be strong, you gotta be wiser" was out by Des'Ree. She told him "you gotta be strong Bob." He was as dry as could be and said; "I dont 'gotta be' nothing." I laughed my butt off.

17:28 - "Rid the world of skeet." This is the funniest stuff I've seen in ages. Ferguson gives plenty of space for Newhart's persona to be front and center and the humor flows naturally. Ferguson was a terrific host who could shift gears depending on the guest; with Newhart he's relaxed, but then with Don Rickles he's quicker and more aggressive.

the finally of the NEWHART show was the best ending ever. when he woke up in bed next to Suzanne Pleshette, and the new show was all just a dream of his character from the original Bob Newhart show I died laughing. when he was don't telling his wife about the dream and she asked if he was married in the dream and he said yes and she asked if it was to her and bob paused, and said, no I was married to a blond.......funniest TV ever.

Agreed. I can’t think about Newhart without remembering that scene. It was hilarious. I’m sure it stands alone as funny. But, to really appreciate the impact of the final Newhart episode on those of us watching it at the time you need to know why it was so funny, and why it was so widely considered genius. Clue: connection between Newhart finale & Bobby’s return to the TV show Dallas after two years dead. In this case case you really DID have to be there!!” 🤣😲😂!! Thank you for years of laughs Bob Newhart!
