Bob Newhart is now 90 years old. I guess he was about 85 when they taped these? There's not even a nick in the blade of his razor-sharp wit. Who can still be this amazing this late in life?
I love this guy, and it hurts to see him getting so old--and this was five years ago. Great sense of humor and comic delivery. Seems to be a genuinely nice man.
I was at a bad point in my life -- undiagnosed diabetes, actually no big deal, unless untreated -- and Craig, every night, made life worth living and gave me something to look forward to. The show was always a silly, f*ck it ROMP, but in the interviews, like with Newhart, he had an intuitive skill for finding the best in his guests and drawing it out -- simply by making them feel as at ease as the audience at home. Never saw him "muff" one. Greatness, Craig. Thanks.
Look how in tune they are with the jokes, the subtlety of Craig's little "looks", like when Bob said, "I never thought I'd meet a Queen..." It's great to see!!
I remember Bob talking about the 'executives' trying to fix his show: "Bob, could you talk a little faster - those pauses slow things down" & "we've decided to add a kid to the show" to which Bob replied "What a wonderful idea - who are you going to get to play Bob". Bob knew his humor, knew what was funny, and knew what he wanted. I grew up listening to him on the radio (plug: CKCK/CK62 from out of Regina); I had insomnia and CK62 had a 2 hour comedy show from like 1:00am to 3:00am. Thanks for the memories.

I’m Larry. This is my brother, Darryl, and this is my other brother, Darryl. Bob must’ve written that into the show. He’s a true comedy genius. Everything he says cracks me up!
The amazing thing about Bob is that if not for a quirk of fate, he would have spent his life as an accountant in Chicago. He just happened to know a guy from college who got into the radio business and when the guy was looking for guest for his show he recalled that Bob was always funny in school. So he invited Bob on his Chicago radio show and the rest is his as they say.

I never really cared so much for Bobs shows, but watching these interviews with Craig has given me a whole new appreciation for Bob Newhart! He really is funny, fast with the wit, and personable.
Craig Ferguson is the best talk show I've ever seen...He's so darn funny I just wished He would still be on...but these replays are the next best thing...wherever He is I know Hes making people laugh!!! He's a naturally funny man!!!
Bob always reminded me of that one teacher you had in high school who could drone on for a few minutes until the class fell into a stupor, then would just, out of the blue, say the weirdest, funniest thing you had ever heard...It would go over the heads of most people. but if you were lucky enough to catch it, you would never forget it, and you would never really look at life in the same way again...
Interesting. Seeing Bob Newhart always reminds me of one of my high school English teachers. They look so much alike, especially when Bob puts on his cardigan in the Bob Newhart Show.
I think I would have enjoyed school more if Bob Newhart had been my teacher. Unfortunately, I had more of the Ben Stein- Ferris Bueller's Day Off version (😩😝😒).
Nope. A friend who was a huge fan got tickets to see him live in Toronto around 1988 and she'd barely talk about it the next day.
