    My mom went to Peru a couple years ago I was thinking “Man she won’t have much to eat since she’s never had Peruvian food.” Her group was part of a Chinese club and they took her to Chinese restaurants and introduced her to Chifa.
    When she got back I asked how was it and she loved everything about Peru. Machu Pichu, the city, met great people and had some of the best Chinese food she’s ever had. She said it was better than Vancouver BC.

      @@eatingwithandy9429 I've always said that Latin infused Chinese food tastes better than even food from Mainland China. I normally eat Chinese food the Restaurantes de Comida China en Puerto Rico.

    im 1/2 white and 1/2 chinese 45, and my wife is 100% german. im a medical doctor living and working at los angeles, Cal., USA. i hate mexico, its culture, lost history and its sinful people. my family moved from china to mexico in the late 1800's. the mexican people treated us chinese people like we were animals. the mexican anger and hate towards chinese people ran deep and long. on a more happy note, us chinese people love everything about peru, its pretty nation, awesome culture, warm people & wonderful climate. we also have many chinese familes that moved to peru in the late 1800's. the people of peru treated my chinese family with open arms & and love - like we were family. to this day, us chinese folks have nothing but great memories at this wonderful country. this is why i made this comment, for the world to see and read. thank you peru from the bottom of our hearts - wise and greatful chinese people!

    Chifas are everywhere in Peru and serve fusion food. If you want real Chinese food you have to go to “ el Barrio Chino “ the Chinatown equivalent

    That mystery fungus you ate is called wood ear fungus. It's pretty much a mushroom.
    Interesting food. I'm Chinese and some of the food looks familiar but it's very unique.

    That veggie fried noodle is very good as good as that cooked in Hong Kong. The fried wantons are good too by itself as good as the one in HK except that the dipping sauce is better in HK.

    WOW. Great explanation. Chifas or Chinese-Peruvian restaurants can be found all over Peru. Locals swear that Chinese food and Inca Kola are a match made in heaven.

    Andy hi, I am a new follower on your channel. Many TH-camrs who spread Peruvian gastronomy make the great mistake of spreading fusion dishes or local creations, such as Peruvian food. Gaston's restaurants, almost all their meals are fusion, it is difficult to find a purely Peruvian dish. Please, avoid confusing our tourist friends with dishes that are not known, and that are not traditional from Peru. Your channel is very interesting. Regards.

    My dad was a renowned Chinese chef and just recently learned about chifa. I really want to try it. I specifically want to try the roasted cuy. I've seen pictures of it and it looks delicious. It's amazing how food brings people together. Potatoes are from the Americas and what would Chinese and Korean food would be without chillies, which are from the Americas.

    Just started reading the episodes about your visit to Peru. You confirm my belief that only in Peru Chifa is the best. In other Countries including America, Chinese Cuisine is not as appetizing . I remember going with my family when very young, to the Chinese restaurants & having a cubicle for ourselves. Brought back so many memories. Looked so delicious!

    • @eatingwithandy9429
      @eatingwithandy9429  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is right! There is no place like Peru for Chifa. It is our produce, our techniques and that deep ingrained "Chifa" culture which is unmatchable anywhere else in the world!

      Steve W Hi Steve! There are no chopsticks 🥢 available at Chifas! Peruvians don’t use chopsticks...only in Japanese restaurants for eating sushi 🍣 (makis, nigiris) Even the rice & noodle dishes are eaten with cutlery.

    I had a bad experience in that restaurant a year ago, never going back there. However, I understand that this is YOUR preference for Chifa BUT, I would never recommend this to a foreigner visiting Peru. My advice is go to Chinatown, not just for the flavor but because is also super close to the historical center.

    Me perdiste en Gastón Acurio. Ese chef no es tan bueno y sus comidas son caras. Madam Tusan, a lo mejor es una excusa para cobrar caro. Lo mejor de la comida China está en El Barrio Chino. Falsa publicidad. How sad!

    • @derekmorgan8534
      @derekmorgan8534 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgesotomayor8601 Ok, Ok....Sorry my man. You're not Gaston, you're his cousin or maybe just his hypeman lol No need to get upset. It is my own opinion. I have tried Acurio's food, from his hands, and I was not impressed. Maybe he just lost the spark for cooking, maybe he was just really good at selling himself. Who knows. After all the man has made money out of exploiting Peruvian food.
      Just so you know, Peruvian food was already well known everywhere, what Gaston did was he managed to exploit it in a way that Peruvian food got a lot more expensive. He made a smart move, but only for himself. Do some research on your own and you'll see.
      And by the way, soy mazamorrero! Take care!
