My grandson, lost his best friend in a 4 wheeler accident when they were 10 years old. This was my grandsons favorite song, that reminded him of his friend.

There is a point of no return on such hikes if you are seriously injured. That's what happened here in the video. Till would not have survived under any circumstances, so a return would have been hopeless. As if his comrades dragged him to the top of the mountain, where they all wanted to go together, in order to let him die contentedly in the circle of his loved ones.
The song is also about the band itself. There were big difficulties in the band that almost led to the break. Till was the main reason for this. Everything i read says Richard was the main problem with his drug problem and wanting everything done his way not saying that others didnt have a part to play in them almost calling it quits but for sure Richard was #1 Problem during that era..
I never knew the band had such serious problems, but I’m elated they worked it out. Rammstein is my favorite band of all time for so many reasons. I’ve been blessed to have seen them perform 3 times (2001 Dallas, Tx, 2011 Chicago, IL, and 2022 Los Angeles, CA) and can’t wait till Paris 2023 for very likely the last time I’ll ever seen them perform live. Their music has such incredible meaning and emotion, but musically is on another level. Throw in all their pyrotechnics and you get the best band in the world. Nightwish is a very close 2nd for me.
This is definitely one of my top favorites by them.
Apparently they recorded this song at one point they almost broke up.

For years now i have been suicidal. This song, to me, is the loss of who i used to be. Happy, careless, hopeful. I know i will never meet myself again - if i keep on going it's only to honor the person i used to be.
But it can also mean a be chapter a new beginning that hopefully you can embrace and make it you.

There's a point when you go up Everest where if there is an emergency you won't make it back. They are part that point when Till is injured which is why they are creating the marker. They all had to accept that he would not make it back.

I had no idea but that makes sense when they make the marker in the tent. It almost felt like Till feel on purpose probably because he lost someone he couldn't live without so went out there and gave up his life over emptiness and sadness from losing his love?
I read it's about the band sticking together and how everyone is treated equally.. they almost broke up and they started going to counseling and I believe this song was written about that...in an interview Richard Kruspe said that Rammstein was like a marriage but without the sex...😁❤️

During filming the director wanted to Show that Till Had suffered internal injuries causing hin to Pass away after His Friends helped him reach the summit but wasnt Sure how so thats why they Show the gangrene

The word "Sie" does not have to mean "she/her" but can also stand for "they".
The first stanza here describes quite clearly how a drug addict in withdrawal feels.

Tja. Wär aber ein Geiles Geburtstagsgeschenk gewesen, da ich zu der Zeit habe, als es gedreht wurde. Without a double (triple) meaning, they don't do it, Some think it's about breaking up the band, others think it's about drugs, some think it's about suicide, and some think it's (ONLY) a lost love ... who knows at Rammstein. As a Rammstein fan since years and years I want you to share an amazing experience with the song "Ogni Pietra" the fancam version. The singer is Dimash Kudaibergen and this guy has an 6 octave range. They tanslated it wrong at the beginning. Its not "There where i last saw her". Its "There where i last saw them". The Word Sie can either be them or her.
"Her" doesn't make sense here but "them" makes much more sense. They start as a group and later lose one guy. So after this event one guy of the group goes back to the forrest where he saw them (alle the members of the group) the last time. Its the narrator. He goes there and remembers the incident.

After years of hearing to that song, I believe the first line ist missing. It should be: I killed you. Now I am back to see what is left of you.
That`s one of the ways I see that song. "I will go into the trees where I last saw her", because he dumped her there. "With you I`m also alone", yeah because she`s dead. But somehow that would be too typical of Rammstein. I don`t think it was meant that way, but who cares? Art can be what you make of it.
