Another fun video. This is the most real, regular guy aviation channel there is. Like you are riding along having a chat. The video quality is great, but everything is not overly polished and overly edited. Refreshing that its not too salesman-y either and when you don’t know something you just say “I don’t know” vs trying to sound like an expert on everything. Glad you keep making these, always look forward to the next one coming out.
i just the got husky a1c for microsoft flight sim and clicked on this video thinking it was the sim version, awesome to find its a nearly exact version of the one in the sim, learned a bit on flying it and was great to see it flying for real - if you dont mind me asking i dont understand the way to use the prop speed and throttle together, i kind of figured it out but i know i am doing it wrong - tried watching some youtube vids but no one seems to explain it in a way that is understandable - if i set the prop speed what exactly does the throttle control then, it does seem to change the speed but how if the prop rpm stays the same - thanks for any info about it
Cool that you found my video through playing FS2020. Look up videos on "Constant Speed Propeller" and you will find plenty of good explanations! It's sort of like a transmission you have in your car. The videos you'll find should explain it!

I’d love to have a Husky, but I wouldn’t need anything bigger than the stock 8.50x6 tires on it. At least if you go with the full glass Garmin panel you get an IFR airplane. Husky can also be tow planes or amphibians, it’s pretty versatile for a tandem seat airplane. Also, the A-1C can come with either the carbureted O-360 (180hp) or the injected IO-360 (200hp).
Great video Rich! Husky’s are a blast! My father is on his second Husky and I am blessed to be able fly it on a regular basis as it’s based in my hangar here at Kanab. It’s fun to fly both the Husky and the Waco back to back as they are so different in many ways. As you said, the Husky is like a kite, even coming from the Waco, let alone the bigger iron you fly. Thanks again!

In the used planes market, a Husky can cost the same than a Piper Malibu, between 300K to a half million dollars. Prices are absolutely ridiculous and dumb as well ! However, Super C... sorry, Husky is a very good plane... But why, God, whyyy such a high cost for such a simple plane ??

Overpriced and overweight toys. They are almost never seen in the bush for actual work. Not much payload due to the high empty weight. For the power, the performance is so-so. Very awkward and difficult to work on. Spare parts from Aviat are astronomically expensive. But - the flaps are great!
I flew a J3 a while back (30 years ago). Loved every minute of it. No electrical system, whiskey compass, altimeter, airspeed, slip/skid, Tachometer. I think that was it!
I used to work at the FBO you flew into back when it was Millionaire Aviation in the 90's. Nice to see its still there even tho Signature took it over🤣
Just checking out the Husky and stumbled upon this FWR video - surprised to see Rich flying one of these so of course I had to watch. Enjoyed as usual but he's right about it being out of place flying around LA. I'd have been tempted to just keep flying east till I hit the desert or something.
At around the 15min mark you were saying " see how much quieter it is at 17inchs" I'm curious what you were talking about. I'm trying to learn airplanes since I have been playing flight simulator and find all this stuff interesting.
It’s a reference to engine power measured as manifold pressure in inches of mercury. Can’t use RPM with a constant speed propeller because as you change power the propeller changes pitch to maintain rpms.

Useful load is closer to 1100, mine is 1100 (180). The a1c comes with either 180 or 200hp -360. Great paint scheme!

Is the Husky suitable for PPL training?
Probably not. I'd recommend a regular tricycle gear airplane like a Cessna 172.
