      This channel has unfortunately become little more than click bait and a very poor example for general aviation. The unfortunate part is that those watching this who are looking to an aviation career or just get into general aviation may not realize how ridiculous and unsafe much of this is all to generate clicks on his website. Instead of mocking the Air Traffic Controllers for his lack of planning, perhaps he should do a video sitting next to one so he can better understand their responsibility in the bigger picture of keeping everyone in the airspace they control safe. When he bought the jet, it's too bad he didn't let them keep the primidone attitude that obviously came with it.

    Seriously, I don't know what kind of pilot sets off on an IFR flight like this assuming that ATC isn't gonna need to vector them or have them change altitude at all and basically not having enough fuel to do anything other than their original planned flight?
    Seems like they knew they messed up when the controller assumed that they couldn't descend because of weather (even though the controller wasn't aware of any weather in their way) and they didn't want to tell the controller that it was actually because of fuel planning problems.

    L-39 aircraft can be equipped with 4 external tanks which increases the range. Most of us flying jets have fuel usage issues when we try and stretch the trip. The proper thing to do is to flight plan a route that gives us an out to a closer airport such that we can land and fuel up without creating an issue for ATC. Many times we have flown into Houston where the controller want us at a low altitude 45 miles from the airport, you just have to plan for it.

Day VMC is probably a good rule of thumb in one of these, especially in the Rockies! Gotta say it was a bit tough to listen to the comm/chuckling from the back seater - good rule of thumb is to comment only to provide added situational awareness and keep your mouth shut when controllers are talking.

    This is the first time I've noticed the Cyrillic markings on some of the gauges. Curious. That's a Czechoslovak jet, right, and Czech and Slovak are both written with the Latin alphabet. Must be due to where they got parts from back in the day. Or maybe who this particular jet was made for?

    • @lukasplsko
      @lukasplsko ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Cyrillic is mainly due to the fact we were part of the Iron Curtain and the jet-trainer was used by other communist countries and therefore Russian was the universal language as English is now. But there are some L39 in Latin alphabet.

    so now your jetting around, does this mean you are having to crunch the numbers that much faster, even though distance has been increased, has the Bonanza taken a back seat for a while, perhaps a well deserved break

    Comin in hot.
    Very cool that you are pushing into jets but for personal use it could just be done so much better today. Shame there are no products. The L-39 is a 3.5 ton bird so that's like having two buicks in tow, that's gonna weigh you down and I'm assuming it drinks about a grand of fuel an hour? which is private jet charter price range so it's not a 100$ burger :)
    I figure a two seater twin jet could easily be done for 300kg empty weight and with more modern engines that's probably 1/10 the fuel burn still going mach 0.7. 100$/hour private jet is a very different type of freedom. Obvious for the assertive business traveller. It should sweep the market. Smooth FL450 must be nice :) Ballistic parachute, autopilot. Could be a thing.
    With a bit of luck we'll have UFO disclosure soon, then some things should start happening. Like fancy things. Stuff like from the desert floor to the moon in 4 seconds.
