- We rented a motorbike in Ranong province and hit the roads for the first time in Southern Thailand!
I have no idea why tourists don't visit Ranong province it has to be one of the most underrated in the country it is full of hidden gems and the friendliest thai people ever.
We got up to all kinds on this trip!
We start the day with a hotel tour of the best hotel in Ranong with the kindest owner before eating at a delicious khanom jeen buffet where I tried Gaeng Tai pla for the first time (Fish innards curry)
Then we cruised through the stunning jungle roads of Ranong, drank local Ranong grown coffee in one of the best coffee shops ever.
We explore Lam nam kra Buri national park and its mangrove walk aswell as driving up to the crazy khao Kho ma Viewpoint over Myanmar.
Then we hit up Punyaban Waterfall which was a really nice surprise.
We finished our Ranong motorbike trip at wat ban ngao. We climbed up the steps to the top for a beautiful sunset view over the jungles, ocean and also the popular tourist spot Phu Khao Ya also known as the green grass hills.
Ranong province is one of our new favourites in all Thailand this place is a must visit seriously 🇹🇭

I have never, but its on the list. Surprisingly you’ve visited more places in Thailand than I have. I was born in Thailand, but have grown up in australia 😅. That fish innards curry is my mums favourite curry, I’m not a fan 😂 would eat it but definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to get it.
i wanted to go last September but the weather was too bad. but maybe end of this year or in the beginning of 2024.

@@EllisWR From there both Phang Nga and Surat Thani are interesting, but Phang Nga has more beaches, Surat Thani has Cheow Lan Dam, and a national park, the only place where the rare Thai rhinoceros remains, but the view in there is worth exploring

The man who fished was from Kra Buri District in Ranong Province. At Kra Buri, there is a bridge over the lagoon which is very beautiful when the sun rises. The isthmus is formed by mountains that sink into the sea.

Hi Ellis, you are right Ranong is the least visited province in Southern Thailand and also the least populated in all the 77 provinces of the whole country. People tend to drive to Phang-nga and Phuket province instead, Thanks a lot for showing us Ranong now it will be on my list for sure.

There are soooo many things I wanted to write because, wow, there are a lot of topics.
4:40 Kaeng Tai Pla is definitely an acquired taste. There are a few southern dishes that you need to grow up with them to like them, like Kaeng Som (Sour curry) or Pad Sator (Stinky bean stir-fried.)
17:30 The place is called Long Rak Ranong (Fell for Ranong), and they're spot on.
20:35 The first time I've ever heard of Mud Lobster. Time for me to delve into yet another rabbit hole.
There is this increasingly harder to find dish called Pla Som Todd (ปลาส้มทอด), it's a kind of fried fermented fish (but not to be confused with E-san's Pla-ra) and it has unique but pleasant acidity and funkiness to it, I'd recommend trying some if you come across any.

My childhood hometown, Ranong is very charming in its own way. The place is full of nature scene: sea, waterfalls, mangrove forest, mountain, lakes, islands, and others. Do not miss those small islands around, they are well preserved because there is no overnight camp allowed. The food here also is hilarious, you will enjoy it as I did when I stayed there. It is a heaven on earth. I miss my place.

I have plan to visit this Songkran festival because is long public holiday, 4 days. but air fare really expensive almost 8,000 Baht for round trip ticket, then I will waiting for a good rate.

Out of all the street doggos, (if they are?) those ones are the cutest 😂 absolute mischievous pack they are.
They are street doggos but the legend who owns the hotel is super nice and he feeds them let's them run around everywhere. There proper funny little characters!!

I remember back in 2014 me and my family drove in this highway while it is heavy raining. We almost got an accident since the road used to be a 2-lane road. We didn't see the truck coming from the opposite way and almost got hit. It seems like Ranong had changed so much in the past 10 years. please drive safely na Ellis.

I quite worry about that mosquito its may contain dengue virus(THAI people got these alot per year). This one could kill u if u not see a doctor. I suggest you look for dengue fever initial symptoms. If u got any go see the doctor quickly and do a blood test. Show him the picture of mos that bit you + date.
