- Join us as we travel from Bangkok to Ranong here in Southern Thailand via night bus!
This video is pretty much a classic travel day for us here in Thailand hope you enjoy! We do things as cheap as possible and always all ourselves.
We jumped in a metered taxi from our hotel in Bangkok to the southern bus station.
Found an epic night market and managed to eat the tastiest thai biryani before the dreaded 10 hour sleeping bus to Ranong in Southern Thailand.
The bus was alright actually was surprisingly comfy for the price. We arrived at 5am and our new thai friend took us to the local market for breakfast!
We then checked into our budget hotel and all seemed okay until disaster struck late at night...

I live in Bangkok for 30 years, Ranong is my hometown. Ranong have hot springs that good for heal skins problems, reduce stress, pain relief, Have fun.

when I lived in BKK, I went to Sai Tai Night Market like zillion times !!!
More tourist should go there, it's a huge market where very few foreign tourists go.
the prices are very reasonable and you can find almost everything there, love it !!

I’m not familiar with southern Thai food but they got great many curries and distinct soups. They’re also known to be extremely spicy, even for Thai standard. Kua-Kling (คั่วกลิ้ง) will be easy to find if you wanna burn your entire digestive system.
Guess I’ll save soups and curry recommendation for another vid yet again.

I've been to Ranong once, it's a city with a nice beach. I booked a boat but it was raining so I missed it. I hope you don't have the same problem as me. It's good for both of you.

l liked your video, it brought back memories of some of our own travel days. You really lucked out with the great market at the bus station, and meeting the lovely fellow passenger. We had a similar stay at a guesthouse in LP Laos where the doors were locked at night. We tried to explain it was not safe in case of a fire, but they insisted it was done for our safety. We moved next day. Alicia is so funny with her jokes HapPeaness 😂
Hahah yeah Carol it's ridiculous we were completely locked in you did the right thing! We sat on those chairs until 6am and then escaped it was awful. The lady we met was so kind we were chatting away for ages on the bus. Thanks for your comment 🙏

Thanks Gareth hope you enjoy 🙏 it was awful one came out from under my pillow, so we stripped the bed and it was hell under there i kept the clips out the video. We left at 6am when they finally opened the bloody hotel doors... First bad hotel experience in like 17 months though so it could be worse!

I love that kind of pomelo too. It tastes better with a little plain fish sauce. 😂 But giving fish sauce may not convenience to go so they give salt, chili powder and sugar instead.

Try train to Trang province and head to Hat Yao. That's one of my favorite beach as a local.

I travel back and forth from Bangkok to Ranong more than 30 times.
and lived there for about a year It's a nice area, people are very kind.
The cost of living is cheap and there are fishing ports that deliver seafood to be sold across the country. Each year is worth tens of millions of baht.
You can make content about fishing wharfs here.
My suggestion for exploring this city is that you should rent a motorbike.

Hey Panna yes we didn't know it was a bad hotel until we arrived! Luckily we left as soon as we could and stayed in a beautiful hotel instead with a friendly owner 🙏 that sounds great we should do it!

I think their are some similar in your country and thai lang. compare to other westerners, you are on top. Especially the ‘melody’, its really help a lot to understand when you speak in Thai, even sometimes you use wrong structure.

I love spicy 🌶️ visit the khao mok gai place and tell them I said to visit! It's so tasty the market has loads of good food
First time many moons ago in Thailand I cheapskated it and bought the government bus ticket.. Bangkok to Chiang Mai..It was horrific.There were 5 rows of seats instead of 4 ,so less room,and I was stuck in the middle and couldn't get the recliner to work for the 14hr trip..But nowadays I just get the normal or ViP..not a big difference.....By the way please say SOM-O. instead of pomelo 😊.Chuck dee

Every time you call a taxi. I suggest you take a photo of the license plate. Yellow sign on the inside of the car door. and the driver's identification card every time in case you forget something in the car, or there is a route problem with the driver. It will be easy to find that car you call for service.

The bus rest where everyone got off the bus. You can exchange your ticket for food or milk. Or what they provide for free if you want. But you have to remember the car number. and get back to the car before the car leaves.

Have you try Khoa Kha Moo or maybe Pad Kha Phao Moo. In my opinion Khoa Kha Moo is must better then Khoa Mok Kai. Khoa Mok Kai is quite strong smell. Most of Thai people choose to eat Khoa Kha Moo or Khoa Pad Kha Phao Moo more then Khoa Mok Kai.

Every country has both dishonest and honest people. Taxis are one of the problems in Thailand. And Thailand is trying to solve this problem The thing that prevents cheating from taxis is the camera in your hands.😂
And using passenger bus services
Loading bags under the car You should always keep valuables with you. You do it correctly

@@EllisWR Yes, you are very lucky to meet a good taxi. I am Thai, but I will not lie about the taxi problem. Touring fares are more expensive than usual without pressing the meter. And adjusting meters to make the fare more expensive Is the main problem But if you have a camera He will not dare to show that behavior. It is good if you will shoot every time when using the service.😅
