    The spare props are the HQ Props - if you run a drill in them they do snug down lower and work well, as to the Gemfan props as well. HTH

      @CurryKitten  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How weird they would give you a spare set of props that don't fit without modification !?

      @@CurryKitten no idea, though it may be because hq and gemfan both released their whoop props around the same time. Also the trashcan uses the same props so maybe there were supply issues. Anyway they work which is the main thing

    I'm not a huge fan of the built-in SPI Frsky receivers on many of these flight controllers anymore, due to inherent drop-out issues. Sick of it actually and I have done everything and tried everything but to no avail. So I was thrilled to see this model is available in a receiverless version. Well done Happy Model! However, it's very concerning about the quality control and reliabilty of the Caddx Turtles V2. Perhaps, this is one to watch and wait for this to be sorted out. Thanks for the great review!

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - I had some drop outs at quite close range, that antenna doesn't like being blocked. I do like just typing 'bind' in the CLI, but I'd take the hassle of finding a tiny awkward button to press if it gave me more range. I'm concerned about the turtle v2 as well. This is a quad I will be crashing a lot due to the areas I'll take it, so I'll report back if I manage to break it

      @@CurryKitten Hope it goes well, but please forgive my cynicism for not thinking it will. I am old enough to remember the early days of Japanese electronic garbage and while I see the Chinese making great strides in QC, they still have miles to go. Also, I often wonder though, is a proper antenna too much to ask for or expect? These gaudy little bits of wire don't make much sense at all, nor does their placement on board with respect to the actual usage on the FC. Sorry for my rant but I have on my desk seven various versions of the basic whoop style FC and one common thread among them aside from the obvious is the lack of QC. However, like a crazy man, I keep buying more hoping for the one, that gets it all right. Until then I will settle for close enough, merely because they are so damn much fun.

      Some of the SPI receivers seem more problematic than others. Many of them run just fine in either D16 8 channel, or D8 modes. Some seem to have dropouts regardless. I'm guessing you've already tried running 8 channel though, Frank?

    Thank for your time, for me is fantastic to see all your test and for the incredible place where you fly.
    I´m in a doubt, I want to buy a drone with HD camera, but I don't know which one to buy between those ones: Mobula 7 HD, CineBee 75HD or Betafpv 85x HD. I will only use 3s because BEtafpv burns on 4s (at this time).
    Now I´m flying a mobula 7 on 2s and I am charmed, it is a mother. When it falls, recover perfectly. But now a I want another one to have good video.
    Can you help me?
    Thank you very much and go on like this.

      Hi Jorge - that's a tough choice. I've not used a CineBee but I was mid-way through testing the Betafpv 85x before the camera broke, and that's pretty impressive. Very smooth in the air - but I hadn't really finished testing for the yaw washout and some other bits so I don't have a full opinion on it yet. I like the look of the CineBee, I'll have to see if I can get hold of one.

    I pre-ordered a couple months back. I received it about 2 weeks ago. First flight I used turtle mode. Although it flipped over one of the props flew off. When the prop flew off it damaged the cable between the dvr and camera. Im still waiting to find out whats going on with it from the company I purchased it through. They tell me there waiting to hear from the manufacturer on getting spare cables. Moral of my story/ lesson for others. Take a look at the cable and make sure its not to close to the prop.

    Hello my friend! 😊 Thanks for your typical stellar review! 👋
    You and I think exactly alike! Others just can't write figure it out that who0ps are best when ultra light! They want to mod it here and there with little regard for the weight they're going to add. You and I realize these two Mobulas are the best because they are also the lightest! At least that is a major factor! 😎
    Happymodel gets it that too much weight is a huge problem for flight performance with who0ps. Why don't almost all other manufacturers get that??? 🤔🙄
    I love my Mobula7. It's very robust, after I've changed the frame to the V3. And it's so fun to fly!!! I have the Mobula7 HD in transit and should be here within a week or so. Excited to try it. 😜
    I also agree with you that the "cage" for the batteries is a major problem ... Could it be simply a habit from having them on the older brushless who0ps that only use one size of battery? Or, more likely, is it a marketing ploy to make us think we must buy the terribly overpriced batteries to fit that slot?!! 🤔😒 Have you seen what GNB wants for their 300mah battery that fits the cage? $11.99 each ... For a 300 mah battery??!! HOLY COW - NO WAY am I paying that! Plus, I always look for battery bargains and come up with amazing values that give the same or more mah's for a fraction of the price. They just don't fit the cage! I've tried slipping a battery strap under it all and it seems to work great... The cage is just in the way! So, I haven't cut it out just yet, but it's inevitable! Simply because "why can't we just use ANY OLE BATTERY that we currently own and that's not too heavy, with these who0ps?" WE CAN! 👍👏
    And, if we feel we need the cage after all, the frames are around 3-4 bucks, and 10 minutes to swap!
    Please do a video showing everyone the benefit of thinking outside the box.... Errrrrr... Battery cage! Lol It's really quite silly to spend a bunch of dough to buy a whole new set of batteries just to fit that cage! We don't do that with any other size quad, HELL NO!, we use any of the batteries that seem half way logical to fly with! Lolol... Heck, I've flown with some batteries that aren't even half way logical, but they still "got me in the air!" 😉 And that's exactly what I want you to open people's minds to ... Using any battery that will get them in the air & helping them save money and not feel suckered into buying those cage fitting rip off batteries!
    Thanks Bro! You'll be the first, I think, to show this simple, easy mod! The "Hack the cage off and get in the air!" mod! Haahaa! 😁🤯 = (mind blowing concept! Lol)

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interestingly I've just got a GoFly Scorpion 80 thought, and the cage is replaceable with a flat mount you can loop a battery strap through - so at least some people are thinking ahead. My mobula7 HD might get hacked, we'll see

      @scootroter4859 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CurryKitten I thought that was a brilliant design... Like the KnarleyFPV PRIMO 110 and it's double notched, with a single screw for easy switching, battery mounts. They include three sizes with the frame! They were really thinking! A lot of the reason why I bought that frame... And because I knew I could design battery mounts and 3D print them to fit my numerous existing batteries! Very co0ol! 😁

    • @scootroter4859
      @scootroter4859 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The same or another AIO camera. Anything else adds too much weight and you'll get the yaw wash out that every single other who0p that's too heavy gets. IT SIMPLY WON'T FLY AS GOOD. One thing to do with the Mobula7 is realize it's that good from the exact reason CurryKitten mentions several times in his video... It's so light! So, I highly suggest you leave it exactly stock and don't ruin it with a heavier camera and separate VTX. 😎🤘

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I though the camera in the Trashcan was a little better than the Mobula, and that's the Caddx EOS2, but I've not pulled them apart to decide if it's an easy swap or if there's any dependancies on other kit.

    • @scootroter4859
      @scootroter4859 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CurryKitten problem is, adding the EOS2 with a light VTX is too much weight to add to the Mobula7 and it suffers from it. And that in a nutshell is the difference between the Trashcan and the Mobula7... Because no matter what others tell us, they're both built by HappyModel. The Trashcan is essentially a deluxe Mobula7, but even though it has more powerful motors the performs isn't as good. And I'm not talking punch outs. Who cares about those! Lol
      Summary: the Trashcan is slightly too heavy and the Mobula7 is just right. So, I suggest not modding the Mobula7 unless you simply switch to a different AIO camera that keeps the weight the same. It's so good because it's so light. 🤔🤘

    what micro would you recommend for me(a beginner with 3-4 hours sim experience): a mobula 7 hd, a mobula 7, a tinyhawk, a eachine trash can, beta 75 or a other suggestion you might have

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends... which always seems unhelpful - But it's about what type of lying you want to do, and where you want to fly. Stay away from the micro HD quads to start with as their FPV live view is not that great and the camera can be fragile. Unless you want to specifically fly indoors I'd also avoid the ducted quads - which only leaves the Tinyhawk on your list. With that said, if you have the space getting a 5" quad is easier in terms of fixing (as there's more easily available parts and they are easier to work on) Out of the stuff I've reviewed, the one that comes in as most bang for the buck is the Hobbymate Comet.

    Nice review as always, this looks good apart from that jello which I've seen on just about every review.

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not on all quads though, the one that broke was pretty much jello free, but I never had the chance to really rip it before I broke it. So it's more the quad/tune than the camera

      @@CurryKitten i meant all the reviews on the mobula7 HD. The beta85x hd seems good jello wise.

    What I dont like about the caddx turtle is that moire effect in the FPV feed. Runcam split does not have this and still everyone bashes that. The moire is a dealbreaker for me. I’ll stick to my mobula 7

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's most certainly a compromise to be made when flying with the Turtles, and a standalone FPV camera is way better... but as a way of getting HD out of such a tiny quad, there's not much else that can be done.

    11:42 you know, turning down the earrape would be fine. After whispering to the microphone, a dentist drill in my brain didn't feel so good.

    Weather here is good all year so although I have tried indoor micro's they aren't of much interest (dull to fly). 4S 130-145 quads are so much better. However I am also partial to sub 1 metres wings. Did I spot something new at about th-cam.com/video/XxbgbVBxUkA/w-d-xo.html ?

    • @CurryKitten

      If your talking about the wing, it's something old. That's really early FlyingWings Falcon - I was using it to see how the RapidFIRE module performed with old IRC600mw VTX's and board camera. Maiden of the newer Flux wing coming up soon though

      I do worry about those Caddx Turtles. I don't know if it's so much that they get damaged, or it's bad QC at the factory.

    Just bought one of these. set it up yesterday and i had the same problem with the caddx. plugged in the remote, changed it to auto record and now the camera doesnt work. I haven't even flown this quad yet. The caddx is the weak link here. It really frustrates me to have to fix something thats brand new. I haven't done an unboxing but i might do a demolishing video with this piece of junk!!!

    Not saying it is this but don't rule out loose camera lenses from poor manufacturing for cause of jello.

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it's certainly happened before (RunCam certainly done it) of sensor movement. You should normally pick it up just on a vibration form the quad on all flights rather than just high throttle though. However, a thing to checkout if I can't get anywhere on the tune.
