My Air75 has been flawless from day one. I'm not experiencing the video tear issue. The video feed has been pretty clear even at 25mw at a park with trees. I'm using skyzone 04O Pro with two identical omni antenna for reference. Hope Betafpv can fix the issue for you!
I have the air65 (same except motors and frame). I did some mode testing on the rapid fire with the vtx set to 25mw. When flying the same path there was a HUGE difference between the modes. So much so that I would say legacy was almost useless. In rapid fire mode 2 I was getting perfectly acceptable range. I think you will really enjoy this quad once you sort out that problem. GL.
Great review, I enjoyed seeing your take on the Air75. I've had mine for a few weeks and I've generally enjoyed flying it indoors. I haven't seen the same camera issue as what you're experiencing, but I'm yet to take it outside so I can't be sure yet. One thing I have struggled with is the lack of ELRS range with the flat antenna module and I'm wondering if some have shipped with the old v1.0 module. I've noticed some review videos show a mich better RSSI and link quality than mine, but others seem comparable. I contacted BetaFPV as I was struggling to get past 15 metres indoors before failsafing. None of my other quads have anywhere near as poor range indoors. I decreased my TX packet rate to 150Hz whuch helped slightly but only by a few metres. BetaFPV reviewed my DVR footage and said the range is lower on these ELRS modules and so therefore it's normal and didnt want to help. Yesterday, I removed the flat antenna and soldered a 29mm long piece of enameled copper wire in it's place. The range is much better now and doesn't drop off a cliff after 10-15 metres. I'm now looking forward to taking ot somewhere outdoors and stretching it's wings a little!
Yikes. 10-15m is definately a faulty rx as far as I'm concerned. The original flat antenna RX was very bad (but not as bad as you experienced) I tried range testing when the released their 1.1 version and manahed around 400m (although not a nice experience) th-cam.com/video/Kt02AoFEtl0/w-d-xo.html This one on ehte air75 is getting nowhere near that. I'd personally opt for a little T antenna and a tiny bit of extra weight for the better range
@@CurryKitten I found that comparison video really helpful when I was weighing up my options the other day! I figured I'd try the copper wire antenna first as it wouldn't cost me anymore and see how it does. So far I'm really happy with it, but if I'm still lacking a bit of range outdoors then I think a module with a T antenna is definitely the way to go. If it helps, I changed my VTX antenna to an RHCP, to match my receiver antennas and it seems to have cleared up the image a bit at 25mw. The antenna fits well with the stock canopy and I think it's reasonably similar in weight to the stock antenna. I got the 37mm long Maple Wireless Light RHCP version ( I think it's the shortest one they do).
Fantastic flying and review, Wayne! 😃 What a fun little quad!!! About the camera, surely there are better ones... The issue would be the weight. I wouldn't know what to recommend... Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Cheers MC. Yep - we could fix lots of things with an antenna on the RX and a nicer VTX antenna... and also a better camera. I can accept that some compromises have been made in order to save weight, and that shows in it's handling. Someone else reckons it's interference rather than the camera, so I'll try some other frequencies to see
I used to be a Dev for BetaFPV working on the silverware fc's. It is a combination of both antenna and interface. The vtx would do better at a lower mw if using a linear antenna or do better with mini omni. Also test where you leave the whoop in one place but you walk around. If you maintain good video then the vtx may be over powered. You can also tune antenna for specific band on both ends. If one wanted.
Nice informative video, am glad that finally someone talks about the flaws of this whoop, all the other videos are like "this is the holy grail of whoops here is a link to buy it"
I can tell that that whoop is really a nice stable craft. I was wondering if you could switch cameras to see if it still carried on with the splitting of the picture. I have a several year old Emax baby quad, I went from a dipole antenna to a real small cherry added some weight, but I really can tell the difference in picture is far better. The overall flight time on a 2S has remained the same with the larger antenna.
On my Air65 I had screen tearing, using a speedybee module on my HD0 goggles, BUT now using Skyzone 040 goggles, I do NOT see screen tearing on the SAME AIR65 or my new AIR75, I forgot all about it, till I saw this video...and just did a quick re-test....I test more when I get my HD0's back from repair...
I'd wondered about the VRX may be the culprit, but BeteaFPV eventually replaced the quad and the new one doesn't have the issue. May be a case of a small fault in the original that some VRX's can deal with, but others can't
Went down to 77 on the LQ.... Must have been quite overgrown folliage ? Small ceramic antenna's wouldn't help.... Thanks for another great and informative video :) Wonder if the 400mW would have made much difference on the Vtx ?
@@GTARC_au hey in my rig I get -80dbm in my apartment that is 30qm very small. That's very bad range. Outside I get like 50meter than I looses telemetry. How far you get just asking for a comparison I think my fc is broken or they just use the old module on this one!
The first thing i noticed was my screen kept going wierd at the top and my rapidfire reciever kept making a bleep now and then, also the vtx power was crap compared to my other drones, they have sent me a replacement 4in1 board now but ive ordered the 5in1,so ill just try the 5in1 when it arrives 👍
I got both the 65 and 75 version, neither have the camera issue you unfortunately see, so guess you got a duff one sadly. They are the best whoops I have ever flown both inside and outside.
Sweet flyer and review. Too bad on the camera. Maybe a bad batch. Camera is listed as "C03", and under new products I see " C04 Camera and VTX Module(M04 VTX/Cetus VTX V2)" listed. It's a no-solider install, but not sure if compatible.
@CurryKitten in the end it could always be something electrical in the wiring etc. But interference can cause screen tearing when you realize the image is scanned and transmitted one line at a time and a signal at a certain hertz could affect similar areas of the scan. Or altogether
@@CurryKitten Thanks. I have ordered Air75 from betafpv and is still waiting for them to ship it. This issue was never seen discussed in discord fpv forums, may be I missed to notice it.

It should put you above WiFi in frequency

This warping smells like being related to the legacy RapidFire mode.
Change the VTX channel. A different frequency might get you farther away from the interference. It's not a camera issue, it's RFI noise
Interesting - I've never seen noise as screen distortion like that, but no worries - I'll give it a try on a spread of channels
@CurryKitten in the end it could always be something electrical in the wiring etc. But interference can cause screen tearing when you realize the image is scanned and transmitted one line at a time and a signal at a certain hertz could affect similar areas of the scan. Or altogether
