    I love the mobula7 it's nice to have a micro that's capable of flying outdoors and still do acro pretty well.
    I can't fly my 5inch at work but I get to fly the mobula7 in places I wouldn't be able to normally fly. maybe one day I will get the HD version.

    Do you think the 3S FC would be better used in a stripped down reworking of this instead of carrying an HD camera and limited to 40mm props? Maybe something closer to the old BAT-100 but with 3S? Perhaps Kabab FPV's "Toothpick" frame.

    Keep in mind Andy, these are cine-whoops:-). Whoops have always had these flying issues, the added weight of HD equipment just adds to the problem. At some point you just need more disc area. Looks like we still can’t have everything! Love your reviews!

    would be interested to see if the flight time improves in summer with nice warm batteries

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      if the batteries are charged at room temperature which these were and my flying field backs onto my house then the cold will actually benefit, that didn't use to be the case when we weren't demanding high current draw from our smaller stater low rpm motors. But modern components drawing huge current generates a lot of heat, especially setups like this where we are demanding such high amps. Its heat that destroys batteries, it causes oxygen to be present in the chemistry of the lipo which is why an abused lipo goes puffy and its heat that does that not cold. If they are kept in the cold or charged in the cold then performance will be effected but if they are charged at room temp and take off at room temp the cold should help keep the internals cooler so in these tests the cold should have helped. in fact thunder power put aluminum plates between the cells to dissipate the heat which is why they are expensive but effective. There is a lot of wrong info out there on lipos. It was correct about two years ago but not now.

    hi Andy can you tell me is this support esc beeper on this model thank you

  • @friendlyfire01
    @friendlyfire01 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I feel something in there wasn't quite right. A motor will always draw MORE current with a higher voltage. The voltage increase defeats the internal resistance of the motor and it will accept more Amps. The ESC can only ever push the Amps that the motor will accept at a given voltage. Race copters on 6s use less amps because the KV of the motors have been changed to = the same wattage at the increased voltage. So 20v x10A is 200W now i want 30v so 6.6A will do. Same thing. If we just plopped 6s onto 4s motors they would draw drastically MORE amps.
    So a 3s battery would technically need to have more ampacity as compared to a 2s on this quad. This stresses the motors far more though, because with the increased voltage the increased AMPS produce more heat/

    • @friendlyfire01
      @friendlyfire01 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Expanding on that a bit more, a 3s with a lower C rating such as this one will sag far sooner than the 2s. (at a given throttle value. it will 'perform' far better as a function of increased RPM's obviously) For example, the 3s may have a 20A draw thanks to it's higher voltage, and thanks to it's lower C-rating, it will sag immediately compared to the 2s, which is only asked to put out about 12-14A, and which actually has a HIGHER ampacity.

    I am wondering why the vendors do not build buzzers into their whoops by default. It's really hard finding such small copters outdoors in some distance, especially in rural environment. Even if the motors are abused as buzzers by DSHOT commands, these are not load enough to be heared from more than few meters distance in a silent environment.
    I have an old Beta 75 Pro still with F3 controller, which at least has two pins for soldering a buzzer to, what I have done using the smallest buzzer offered by BetaFPV. This works great and makes things much more simple. But I have seen that some newer FCs, such as the BetaFPV F4 with integrated receiver don't have that pins anymore. No idea about the Mobula FCs.
    When buying my next whoop (e.g. my first cine whoop), a buzzer or at least the pads for adding one is a MUST requirement for me.

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its quite simple really. all comes down to weight. the tiny props and the added weight of the hd camera and 3s battery is pushing it as it is. however I can confirm the dshot is by far loud enough on this model to find it as I lost it many times and in loud windy conditions. the original mobula7 had a buzzer because it could afford it weight wise and you could add one to this. but it would only make its yaw washout worse.

    My take on "cinewhoops" is that they are meant to provide more cinematic footage, like a mavic etc... But they can get into way tighter spaces. Try some slower flights in angle or horizon maybe? Safe enough to fly at high speed around the hood without maiming anybody, great for practice, having HD footage is just a nice bonus. Too cold for flying just now though so sit back and let the cinewhoop market develop.

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The answer to that is towards the end of the video. As for considering the tempretaure all the batteries were subject to the same tempretaure so can you advise what you mean by the word consider? The results I observed all matched the maths that I calculated before the flight so regardless to the tempretaure can you create a counter argument for the maths other than what I observed and felt through the sticks? There is an indoor flight at room tempretaure with a longer flight time if that is what you are referring to

      thanks for the reply.
      so 2s 300mah gives almost 4 minutes , 3s would be interesting with energy demand at low loads for comparison.
      for the temperature thing, just learned from my winter flying to care about battery temp. placing them on heater outlet of car or charging just before use.
      mine are cooling down fast especially when exposed to wind from flying or props.
      ok im in the alps ....
      depending on power used even had them cooling faster than heating from use and creating voltage drops beyond flyable. realy bad internal resistance going to lower temps.
      thanks again

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      the problem with 3s indoors is that the copter becomes more clumsy and it better for 2s indoors... and outdoors ;)

    • @AndyRCchannel
      @AndyRCchannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      my flying field is next to my house so they took off at room temperature, we also demand so much from these systems that the batteries heat themselves up during the flight. This is actually bad and is what causes them to puff so you could say in this instance the cold temps were doing them a favor providing that they were not left or charged outside which there werent. on the plus side the lipos make nice hand warmers for when we land

      Haha. The blade torrent 110 is 2-3s capable and had only 6amp all in one esc's. It worked well... until you changed the JST connector to xt30...then you just magic smoked the ESC. The initial change to 3s gives bit more power or punch but not enough to say it's double the power on 3s. I'm not sure what's the point of putting 3s on a 65-85mm frame... It's just an overkill and not needed. Oh and the extra weight for the HD footage is not worth it on a tiny thing like this.

    Excellent review, I have a question though and I'm not sure if its something on my end but in your second flight with the Mob7 Hd in the top right corner of your footage there were lines, Is this common with the turtle? I have a V2 in an acrobrat and it does the same thing sometimes.

    A couple things. I just received the turtle v2 a few weeks ago and it came with the plate that keeps the card from ejecting so maybe it will be included by the time they release this. Also you forgot to mention the Beta85x as a competitor. That bird is shipping now. Looking forward to your comparison!

    I love the on-board split camera setups I think in time these will get better in Quality and I can see these fitted yo every Quad you own. The feed from them needs to be better as I find the Quality of the feed from the CADDX TURTLE V2 to be below the foxeer monsters I like to use, but of course you cant stick them in a Mobula7. The Mobula7 dose look fantastic for them cold days for indoor flying and this will give you the ability to do some chase flying of other models. So cumming back to it whoops are missing the HD recording splits for all types of Quads Whoops are the thing to go. WOW look at the nice bit of tec you have, Strings, keyboard, Drums and mixing TALENTED BY FAR.
