Nick's right. You can whoop almost anywhere. I fly a 2S, 100g gronk of a whoop in a 400 square foot, one-bedroom apartment. Like drivin' an F1 car at Monaco.
I built my own HD 75mm whoop almost identical to this with the ZEUS5 Fr board that has onboard blackbox and I love it. I used the runcam 3 split, same canopy, happymodel 19,000kv motors and MobulaV2 frame and i'm at 32 grams. I love the gyroflow stabilized footage I get!
I've had my mob6 HD in a 75mm frame for a year now and it rocks! Used it quite a bit for IGOW in the early weeks. I think the runcam split is one of the best tinywhoop cameras seperatly from the bonus recording capabilities

Yes! I love tiny whoops with HD recording. That runcam split 3 lite camera seems a good choice to build into one of my whoops. I still fly the original Mobula7. Just swapped the frame and camera for better ones
I have got the mobula 1s elrs for a few months now and it is really durable and my daily driver sinds i got it Iam really impressed about what it can do for a 1s! It has a really good tune and now I have 25000kv Aeolus on it and it even flys better almost no yaw washout!
I thought I had those motors but I guess not as I look for them a few weeks ago and then I tried to find them at a US shop but no luck. I will have to keep trying. Those motors holding up well?
@@NickBurnsFPV Yes they are hard to get now! Maybe banggood has them in stock. I have only flew them a couple of packs for now so time will tell but for now they are holding up good.

I've recently fallen in love with my 5" drones after spending a lot of time with my 3" toothpick, but it's raining here today and I'm thinking about picking up my Mobula6 again... Thanks for making whoops look like fun. I've had a hard time feeling that way for awhile now.
How many quads have you dunked in the pool so far lol? I bet the RCinpower 1002 motors that are coming out would be great for a hefty HD set up like this.
None so far. But the pool has powered cover and we have only been in it once so far. today its only 55f so a bit to cold to swim. I do look forward to giving those rcinpower motors a try. I hope to get more than one set to try on different setups.
Fantastic flying and review, Nick!!! 😃 About the audio, I don't think it's the microphone's fault. It sounds pretty similar to your audio recording from the other camera. What you can do is change a bit the audio during editing. Just make it sounds... Well, add more bass. You know? Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I really haven't dove into audio manipulation, its not something I would do for a review as that has to much potential to confuse others, and could be seen as dishonest if I don't make it abundantly clear I have change the audio. So far I am not hearing much about the use of audio on these hd recording micros.

did u use an ep2 receiver? I did my m6 conversion but there’s literally zero space to mount the receiver, so it’s zip tied on the outside of canopy. I have a HD version of mob6 so that might is very cramped

It is, we go in last weekend, maybe tomorrow will warm up for another swim. I don’t suspect I would do a conformal coating video until I have done it a few times and learned some lessons. Hopefully I can just get the quads out of the pool
Would be nice to compare the video quality of this whoop with that of Runcam Thumb. They should have the same resolution. And the Thumb records the Gyro's logs too.
Oh, someone's getting a pool! Nice! A new water trap to avoid... I moved my Mob6HD into a 75mm frame over a yr ago due to your old video and it's nice to see it's coming that way from the factory now. Question: Do you get any complaints or mean looks from flying over your neighbor's yards and roofs? I would think that tiny whoops would become a huge privacy concern - especially now that they have longer range and can record in HD.
Hey Nick I'm doing a 1s hd I have same camera setup with X12 aio gonna repine it for 700mhz and best part use the 0802 30000kv tinywhoop unibell motors bet it handles better and flys better than what happymodel did
Nick, amazing in-depth review! As usual, you have this great ability to synthesize all the important points succinctly, including what we talked about with the tight grommets around the flight controller, which make the drone shake! That made me chuckle... One thing I didn't hear is a comparison to the Mobula 7HD 2S/3S drone from HappyModel, both in terms of flight quality and flight time. Do you not have that one? Trying to choose between the two...
I do or did have it. The only thing the original will have over the new is the addition power and weight, it will handle winds better and be more capable of more aggressive flight. I think the original and it’s older camera have a slightly lower quality hd recording. The new with elrs and 400mw vtx will have the ability to fly around and behind more/bigger obstacles and further away. And some just want 1s which for a time we didn’t think was all that feasible
@@NickBurnsFPV interesting. So what would you say is an ideal motor weight limit for 65mm? Each RS motor weighs 2 grams so not that heavy in comparison to others.
@@dirtymcstinky1656 It will vary depending on the person. Some will want every .1 gram off the quad while others will want the durability and absorb the weight. No good single answer.

WOW! Your flight inside the house was awesome! I would love to be able to fly that fast as well as control it. Any tips? I started as a freestyle pilot and haven't tried racer style quads. Did you complete in racing before which is helping a lot in flying like that?
Thank you, much appreciated. No, I have not raced before. I am not aware of any races, whoop or otherwise happening in where close to me. I think what has helped me the most is I fly often, my pre sleep routine is to fly 2 batteries then off to bed. Even on days I have been flying earlier in the day, its just how I end my day. I think it also helps my family doesn't mind and my wife knows how much I enjoy flying. the last and would be I have been flying inside for about 4 years :) maybe that last one is the biggest reason I am able to fly like in this video....a lot of practice :) Just keep flying and having fun it will all come with time. One last thought, if you fly with thumbs maybe try pinching for a while if you pinch to fly maybe try thumbing. I started thumbing and after a about a year I switched to pinch/hybrid, it was odd for awhile then one day it became normal and I felt more control.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you for all the tips. I do pinch too. I think like you said, I should just fly more inside the house. I got a cinelog 25 last week. On the first day, I was extremely scared and I couldn't control the quad. I did some changes in the rates which helped a lot. And today which is my 4th day flying inside the house in acro mode, it has improved a lot. Sometimes I still crash when going down to the basement especially when I had to turn 180 degrees. Also today, my fear in flying inside the house is gone. I told myself, "if it breaks the quad, I can always fix it".
@@neilfpv The quiet confidence that we aren't "grounded" if something breaks and help settle our nerves and allow us to fly as we can. Stress/nerves can be a barrier to our development.
Can you check to see if the Blackbox Osd options work and update the file number? There is a on screen one and end screen. With on board blackbox it doesn't work, but in curious to know if it works with a serial logger
The Yard is coming along nice, I might even borrow an idea or two. This new version of the mob7 is pretty durable i see, does it have the little clip to lock the sd card in? ZMaybe putting some foam under camera might help with that nasty sun jello. I have a nameless rc version(older) that is 3s, and this might be the version I would get to add to my 1s fleet including that hx100 that I won from you.The first thing I would do when i get it ,will be converting to the gnb27 power pug, even the beta hx100 has one.
No clip on either of the sd card slots, not in the accessory baggie either. There is some foam under the camera, maybe a touch more would be good, I am not certain as in the later flights I don't see the jello outside when the wind is much less and the sun is later in the day. I would likely try a diy ND filter
I have a Mob 6 HD with a split cam. The flight time was horrible when I was running the camera. I just bought the Mob 7 ELRS and it’s great. I want to swap the cameras and I have a canopy for it. Do you know if the tune needs to be changed to accommodate the heavier camera? I am not a quad tuner at all. Do you have any recommendations?
17:40 would it be a good idea to put one or two layers of small duct tape on the camera to protect the rim a bit better? or a thin layer of blu-tack? or will it not protect it at all and add too much weight? had anyone tried it?

I am not sure how much the gyro logger weighs, I would hope less than 3grams. I haven’t flown without it yet, but if it is 3grams and not needed for gyroflow I would certainly take it out for the increase in performance. I don’t personally do much hd recording I want to go around having fun and bouncing off stuff 😁🤣

@@tonylwwong I might do an update to the rocket race. I am undecided just yet. You could always update the mobula 7 1s to HD with a voltage regulator and the split 3 lite just as in this quad, far less expensive than buying a whole new quad.
yes, this frame is stiffer and more durable than the previous version and the motors are more durable as well. And one last benefit is the 400mw vtx is 2x stronger.
Is the gyro data being saved onboard the flight controller or you are using standalone a gyro logger? If yes, which one.btw you are my one stop channel for whoops and toothpicks paradise.
Hi Nick, you mentioned the flight controller you got has a different gyro. Does that mean you have the version 2 of the x12 elrs fc? The one that supports 2S? I was thinking about going for this build. And maybe in the future use the fc for a 2s toothpick/whoop build later. But Im afraid to get the V1 of the x12 which only seems to support 1S. It would be good to know.
That alone doesn't mean its 2s compatible. At this point flight controller manufacturers are having trouble getting the standard mpu6000 gyro so they are substituting.
I have a quick and silly question: what size screws do you use to build one of those? I'm new to this but I'm gonna build my own. Thinking of ordering some of those titanium screws from AliExpress. What length M2/M3 screws should I order along, in anticipation of bigger builds?
I fly raceband 8 as that frequency is above wifi frequency. I also use a rapidfire module which is the top or near the top of the line receiving module.

No, I have both the onboard hd recording and the goggle dvr in the video. The goggle dvr is a better representation of what it look like in the goggle. Look in the lower right corner.

Its the single camera dual function. Analog transmitted to goggles and hd recorded to the on board sd card. Is it worth it, not for me. But that is why one has to answer that question for one's self.
hi Nick, might be a dumb question.. but I can't find any recordings in my SD Card after I fly this drone. The card is a SanDisk Class10 32gb and when I pull it out to view the video footage, all I see is text log files and a file called "Lager.cfg". Why are the recordings not being saved? Where are they? Auto-Record is set to ON...
This quad has 2 spaces for sd cards. Sounds like the one your looking at is the gyro logger, we use that data for processing video through a software program like gyroflow. The top board also has a space for sd card. If we have a card in that slot and power the quad we will see a red dot on screen indicating the camera is recording.

But then I picked up the whoop to look at it and still couldn't find where in the heck they had placed that second slot! I had to take the canopy off to finally see it. I gotta cut myself some slack here cuz they really have made it difficult to find! The bottom slot is much more visible. Thanks a bunch tho!

Question: Do you get any complaints or mean looks from flying over your neighbor's yards and roofs? I would think that tiny whoops would become a huge privacy concern - especially now that they have longer range and can record in HD.
Hey Nick I'm doing a 1s hd I have same camera setup with X12 aio gonna repine it for 700mhz and best part use the 0802 30000kv tinywhoop unibell motors bet it handles better and flys better than what happymodel did
It very well could. I would expect more aggressive capabilities and less flight time.

As usual, you have this great ability to synthesize all the important points succinctly, including what we talked about with the tight grommets around the flight controller, which make the drone shake! That made me chuckle... One thing I didn't hear is a comparison to the Mobula 7HD 2S/3S drone from HappyModel, both in terms of flight quality and flight time. Do you not have that one? Trying to choose between the two...
I do or did have it. The only thing the original will have over the new is the addition power and weight, it will handle winds better and be more capable of more aggressive flight. I think the original and it’s older camera have a slightly lower quality hd recording. The new with elrs and 400mw vtx will have the ability to fly around and behind more/bigger obstacles and further away. And some just want 1s which for a time we didn’t think was all that feasible

Have you heard of any prop manufactures who intend to release 31mm props with 1.5mm prop hole? These rs motors are great on 65mm!
I haven't, I haven't weight these new 0802 1.5mm shaft motors independently. I wonder if the weight is a barrier in a 65mm tinywhoop.

WOW! Your flight inside the house was awesome! I would love to be able to fly that fast as well as control it. Any tips? I started as a freestyle pilot and haven't tried racer style quads. Did you complete in racing before which is helping a lot in flying like that?
Thank you, much appreciated. No, I have not raced before. I am not aware of any races, whoop or otherwise happening in where close to me. I think what has helped me the most is I fly often, my pre sleep routine is to fly 2 batteries then off to bed. Even on days I have been flying earlier in the day, its just how I end my day. I think it also helps my family doesn't mind and my wife knows how much I enjoy flying. the last and would be I have been flying inside for about 4 years :) maybe that last one is the biggest reason I am able to fly like in this video....a lot of practice :) Just keep flying and having fun it will all come with time. One last thought, if you fly with thumbs maybe try pinching for a while if you pinch to fly maybe try thumbing. I started thumbing and after a about a year I switched to pinch/hybrid, it was odd for awhile then one day it became normal and I felt more control.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you for all the tips. I do pinch too. I think like you said, I should just fly more inside the house. I got a cinelog 25 last week. On the first day, I was extremely scared and I couldn't control the quad. I did some changes in the rates which helped a lot. And today which is my 4th day flying inside the house in acro mode, it has improved a lot. Sometimes I still crash when going down to the basement especially when I had to turn 180 degrees. Also today, my fear in flying inside the house is gone. I told myself, "if it breaks the quad, I can always fix it".

Can you check to see if the Blackbox Osd options work and update the file number? There is a on screen one and end screen. With on board blackbox it doesn't work, but in curious to know if it works with a serial logger

This new version of the mob7 is pretty durable i see, does it have the little clip to lock the sd card in? ZMaybe putting some foam under camera might help with that nasty sun jello. I have a nameless rc version(older) that is 3s, and this might be the version I would get to add to my 1s fleet including that hx100 that I won from you.The first thing I would do when i get it ,will be converting to the gnb27 power pug, even the beta hx100 has one.
No clip on either of the sd card slots, not in the accessory baggie either. There is some foam under the camera, maybe a touch more would be good, I am not certain as in the later flights I don't see the jello outside when the wind is much less and the sun is later in the day. I would likely try a diy ND filter
I have a Mob 6 HD with a split cam. The flight time was horrible when I was running the camera. I just bought the Mob 7 ELRS and it’s great. I want to swap the cameras and I have a canopy for it. Do you know if the tune needs to be changed to accommodate the heavier camera? I am not a quad tuner at all. Do you have any recommendations?

17:40 would it be a good idea to put one or two layers of small duct tape on the camera to protect the rim a bit better? or a thin layer of blu-tack? or will it not protect it at all and add too much weight? had anyone tried it?
maybe. The trouble with adding camera protection is it gets in the camera view as its a very wide fov.

I am not sure how much the gyro logger weighs, I would hope less than 3grams. I haven’t flown without it yet, but if it is 3grams and not needed for gyroflow I would certainly take it out for the increase in performance. I don’t personally do much hd recording I want to go around having fun and bouncing off stuff 😁🤣

I am one of those who want to get hd in a small quad. The hd small quad not as light so hd recording comes half way . But just ordered the regular 2 days ago and debating if should cancel, hearing from you make me think I should keep the regular first. yes, this frame is stiffer and more durable than the previous version and the motors are more durable as well. And one last benefit is the 400mw vtx is 2x stronger.

It has a gryo logger, and that is the sd card that fell out during the video .
Hi Nick, you mentioned the flight controller you got has a different gyro. Does that mean you have the version 2 of the x12 elrs fc? The one that supports 2S? I was thinking about going for this build. And maybe in the future use the fc for a 2s toothpick/whoop build later. But Im afraid to get the V1 of the x12 which only seems to support 1S. It would be good to know.
That alone doesn't mean its 2s compatible. At this point flight controller manufacturers are having trouble getting the standard mpu6000 gyro so they are substituting.

I have a quick and silly question: what size screws do you use to build one of those? I'm new to this but I'm gonna build my own. Thinking of ordering some of those titanium screws from AliExpress. What length M2/M3 screws should I order along, in anticipation of bigger builds?
The screws in these are largely m1.4, the motor screws I believe are 4mm and the canopy screws 6mm.

I fly raceband 8 as that frequency is above wifi frequency. I also use a rapidfire module which is the top or near the top of the line receiving module.

No, I have both the onboard hd recording and the goggle dvr in the video. The goggle dvr is a better representation of what it look like in the goggle. Look in the lower right corner.

Its the single camera dual function. Analog transmitted to goggles and hd recorded to the on board sd card. Is it worth it, not for me. But that is why one has to answer that question for one's self.

This is 1s only. The flight controller might be updated for 2s also but the motor kv is to high for 2s, the motors will burn.
How different is this quad from the Mobula 6 HD swapped into the Mobula 7 frame with bigger props?
If they are using the original board in the mobula6 hd, this has elrs a 400mw vtx, 12 amp esc and motors with 1.5mm shafts. All better components imho
hi Nick, might be a dumb question.. but I can't find any recordings in my SD Card after I fly this drone. The card is a SanDisk Class10 32gb and when I pull it out to view the video footage, all I see is text log files and a file called "Lager.cfg". Why are the recordings not being saved? Where are they? Auto-Record is set to ON...
This quad has 2 spaces for sd cards. Sounds like the one your looking at is the gyro logger, we use that data for processing video through a software program like gyroflow. The top board also has a space for sd card. If we have a card in that slot and power the quad we will see a red dot on screen indicating the camera is recording.

But then I picked up the whoop to look at it and still couldn't find where in the heck they had placed that second slot! I had to take the canopy off to finally see it. I gotta cut myself some slack here cuz they really have made it difficult to find! The bottom slot is much more visible. Thanks a bunch tho!
