Just keep practicing! I found the monotonic bass harder than the alternating bass to master, but it came along with lots of practice. Keep in mind that the thumb and first finger will "pinch" a lot of notes -- that is, hit them at the same time. The thumb is not operating separately from the first finger. That helped me a lot. Listen to guys like Big Bill, Lightning Hopkins, and Mance Lipscomb. They were the kings of the thumping bass line! I may do a beginner video on this. Thanks!
Thanks! It's great stuff, isn't it! There's a great instructional DVD by Woody Mann called The Guitar of Big Bill Broonzy. I owned it at one time and learned some great stuff from it.
Sorry. I'll do this one again when I have time. It's mainly the thumb beating on the bass and the first finger picking the treble notes. I throw in the second finger every now and then.
Great lesson 👍👏👏
Thumb lesson would be awesome 😎

Nice lesson, i wish you would show your picking hand too.
Excellent ! But it's hard to keep the thumb in rythm with at the same time play with the other finger, have you some advice for me ?
Thank you for the great lesson. Im quickly becoming a big bill disciple.
