My favorite (lead) melodies to play: 1. A Good Morning Melody (Preisner/Możdżer) 2. A Goodnight Melody (ditto) 3. Für Alina [David Arden interpretation] (Arvo Pärt, the two above were inspired by and draw from it) 4. Remo Floats (Craig Safan) 5. Starless (King Crimson) 6. The Violin Song (Tony MacAlpine) 7. Prząśniczka [Piotr Kaczor interpretation] (Moniuszko) 8. Karczmareczka (Anon) 9. Oczy Szeroko Zamknięte (Łzy) 10. Małe Szczęścia (Robert Janson)
When I was playing in a rock band in high school, inevitably something would go wrong at a gig and there'd be a short break while someone was fixing something. That's when I'd pull out the mario theme and give the audience a laugh
Fun fact: The first version of "twinkle twinkle little star" is found in an Italian lute manuscript from 1517 by Vincenzo Capirola. The title is Tientalora, the Melody is more ornamented following renaissance's taste.
Gaaah! The Ode to Joy melody has an anticipation of one beat on the return to the first theme, and everyone drops it! Please, please, add that little note; it breaks the "squarishness" of the line and adds momentum.
@@nickpearsonuk Of course it does! th-cam.com/video/fEiJwgcawvI/w-d-xo.html The note at exactly 46:25 in the basses, and at 50:34 in the vocal line (and every other time we hear this) is what I'm talking about; it lands before the start of the next measure, and is the magic of this melody.
The theme from the '60s American sitcom The Munsters--written by Jack Marshall, cousin of the legendary Christopher Parkening. Marshall got him started playing guitar. Thank you, Jack!
Fav melodies to play: Twin Peaks theme, Better Call Saul theme, Game of Thrones theme (i'm sensing a pattern). Spanish Caravan, Golden Brown. That Punjabi MCs riff. Mortal Kombat theme. Pink Panther that you mentioned. In the Hall of the Mountain King.
Spanish Romance was one of the first songs we worked on back when I learned classical guitar as a child, because it is rather simple but highly effective and just beautiful...
Symphony No. 5 Beethoven, 40th Symphony Mozart, Moonlight Sonata Beethoven, Mission Impossible Lala Shefren, Survivors Eye of the Tiger, Take Five David Brubeck, The Wall Pink Floyd, Margerita Elvis Presley, Smells Like Teen Spirit Nirvana and most of the songs by Billy Joel.
"Greensleeves" is the exact same song as "what child is this". That's awesome. I've been on learning christmas songs kick for a minute now and now I have to dive down the rabbit hole of song origins lol.
Thanks for the suggestions. I’m definitely gonna have to go pick up Spanish Romance; such a beautiful piece that I never considered learning. Gonna have to keep implementing more chords into my progressions too. Feels like a constant struggle between having complex enough rhythms and properly filling out the melodies with chords. All of these sounded pretty great the way you presented them. 👍
Just awesome Paul! You can listen to Claude Sirois's version of Saute-mouton, a tune from where I come from. A good beginner's exercise for the guitar.
I heard number 5 from Blackmore in that old video when he plays the acoustic and sing with another dude in a podcast or something. That video is huge, it's on youtube :)
I've always liked the theme songs from the Xbox video game "Kingdom of Keflings". Great songs in there that I've listened to while doing programming work. Good Stuff.
Paul you should check out some of the game soundtracks of the last of us part I and II some great guitar work in there. Id specifically look at unbroken.
There’s a Welsh / British kids show called fireman Sam. The theme is epic and I’m pretty sure you can hear it’s played on a strat! Also power rangers theme with the tapping is pretty epic and blows the minds of little cousins 😎
That Spanish romance is 1st year guitar school. Like one of the first things ever I learned on guitar. And then Nothing else matters came out and took it's place.
The main theme from "The Secret of Monkey Island". For guitarists - old video games fans this is a "must-play"! There was a time I could spend a few hours looking for and watching the new performances on TH-cam. And every time I grab the guitar a have to play it at last once :)
"Nelle Fantasia /Gabriel's Oboe" by Ennio Moricone is one of the finest melodies ever for me. Also "Danny Boy/Londonderry Air" by Unknown. I can't play them tho.
Keeping on the video game theme, Koji Kondo also has all those beautiful Zelda melodies. Underrated though - Grant Kirkhope really cooked with Banjo-Kazooie and others
I like your version of Happy Birthday (very pretty) except the chord at around 0:54 doesn't sound quite right 🤔. 1:02 the opening chord from Pink Panther (love it!) 😎. The orange Strat is nearly identical to one I owned in the early 80s except mine had black pups, awesome guitar! As for suggestions, X Files Theme?
Probably a boring video to make but maybe one of the most inspiring videos in a while. These are the tunes that we often forget make the guitar so fun again. Bravo from 🌻Kansas
Not true. Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman", K. 265/300e, is a piano composition by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed when he was around 25 years old (1781 or 1782). This piece consists of twelve variations on the French folk song "Ah! vous dirai-je, maman". The French melody first appeared in 1761.
That Mario theme was FIRE 🔥

Wow! This list is very Polished!
What acoustic guitar are you using in the video?
Paul Davids doing his own thing and dropping beautiful, delicate videos every few weeks is such a delight
When I was playing in a rock band in high school, inevitably something would go wrong at a gig and there'd be a short break while someone was fixing something. That's when I'd pull out the mario theme and give the audience a laugh
Shh! Quiet! You'll get sued!
Fun fact:

I always thought Mozart wrote it.
What a wonderfull world is the same chord progression as twinkle twinkle little star
Gaaah! The Ode to Joy melody has an anticipation of one beat on the return to the first theme, and everyone drops it! Please, please, add that little note; it breaks the "squarishness" of the line and adds momentum.
I’m pretty sure the Berlin Philharmonic gets it right along with every other orchestra.😬
I work in church production and have to say-your lighting, cameras, audio, etc are beautiful

1:04 that’s the Vsauce chord
haha! Capo 2 goes to make emin7, Beethoven's famous Wonder...LOL! So great Paul!!
THE ENTERTAINER?!
Ranges from ridiculously difficult to borderline impossible
@@billysuter That's not exactly true! I am trying to play it for nearly 50 years already and I nearly made it! 🤣
For a moment I thought he was going to play wonderwalls...2:01 😂
Hahaha, me too
lol😂
That must’ve been the intent
Another excellent instructional video. Very informative and entertaining.
Spanish Romance was one of the first songs we worked on back when I learned classical guitar as a child, because it is rather simple but highly effective and just beautiful...
Deep into my Christmas concerts now, I introduce 'Silent Night' by saying "I'll bet everyone will know this melody instantly"....and they do.
It always blows my mind how epically iconic the Super Mario theme is. So cool
Such a great video thanks Paul
Beautiful tones and arrangements on every song!
Oh wow! I have learned 8 out of these 10 as a kid, like just for fun without anyone teaching me! This video made me feel good! Thanks!
0:28 It was 3 days ago but thanks 😋
HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY!!! 🎉🎉🎉
The Mario Theme was awesome ! Would love to hear your take on "Pure Imagination" !!
Wow that 10th song (dont want to spoil it) was amazing.
Cause we've ended as lovers is one of my favorite melodies to play. Jeff Beck version of course.
#3 was the first and only full song I learned when I started piano lessons. I wish I had continyed it.
my favs to play in guitar are Blackbird and Shape of my heart, handpicking
"Greensleeves" is the exact same song as "what child is this". That's awesome. I've been on learning christmas songs kick for a minute now and now I have to dive down the rabbit hole of song origins lol.
Now i think its time for me to pay you for your tabs :D looks like a whole lot of fun!
That Mario theme was glorious !!!
a nice strat does it all! fantastic sound and playing as usual
wow

Lovely video, playing and tune selection.
👌🏼👍🏻👏🏼
BTW your barber is a channel sponsor, he must be!
🤭😉😉😉
Paul, I love the stylings you played. They are masterful. Well done and memorable.
Amazing Grace might be one of my favorites! So iconic and joyful
The Mario one was ridiculously good done.
Paul❤️ you're one of my fav guitar player out there !! Love the way how you play & the way you edit your video & the aesthetic background to!!!♡
Those were some great melodies to work on. I like playing the original Mission Impossible theme (bass & melody) in 5/4.
Beautiful playing, Paul! You just get better and better!
I heard number 5 from Blackmore in that old video when he plays the acoustic and sing with another dude in a podcast or something. That video is huge, it's on youtube :)

uhhh! Great playing!!!
love this video. Also i recommend you to play "Inspector Gadget" Theme! it's like chromatic Criminal Detective Theme ; D
Love your Ode to joy version, after too many years with romanticized orchestral version (the Karajan aftertaste).
Mario Theme is the best from this. I would add Top Gun Theme as well. Thanks for sharing with us. Keep rocking! Cheers 🍻
Spanish romance. I call it "giochi proibiti" Segovia Is right too? Very nice video man
There’s a Welsh / British kids show called fireman Sam. The theme is epic and I’m pretty sure you can hear it’s played on a strat! Also power rangers theme with the tapping is pretty epic and blows the minds of little cousins 😎
“I want to see you play them” 😂😂 come on Paul, stay true! 😉🤟🏼👋🏼
One day I wanna be a professional guitarist like you sir! I am 19 now inspired by you😊❤!
Pink Panther riff is so killer !
Simply amazing
Meldodys are my favourite thing to play on guitar
Yes. And roads are my favorite thing to drive my car on
Happy Birthday theme like this is actually amazing!
For me the Super Mario Theme is a masterpiece in music history.
That's gonna be my new work on list for the next year. 😅
That Spanish romance is 1st year guitar school. Like one of the first things ever I learned on guitar. And then Nothing else matters came out and took it's place.
I was waiting for the hard rock to kick in with that Mario, so cool. 😎

So beautiful, especially 8:43 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 thanks
"Nelle Fantasia /Gabriel's Oboe" by Ennio Moricone is one of the finest melodies ever for me.
Also "Danny Boy/Londonderry Air" by Unknown.
I can't play them tho.
As we approach the holidays, even though I am not a religious person, O Holy Night is one that always moves me.
Fantastic!
Thank You 🧡
Keeping on the video game theme, Koji Kondo also has all those beautiful Zelda melodies.
Underrated though - Grant Kirkhope really cooked with Banjo-Kazooie and others
that strat sounds killer
As usual.. 👍 tooooppp
Super Davis groove 👍
..I dedicate to my Italy 🇮🇹team who just won the tennis 🎾 Davis 🏆 with Jannik Sinner
Your videos always leave a mark in my heart and mind. Thank you for your creativity and passion!🏑😱🤹
Bonkers, Love the Mario theme, thank you Paul.....
very nice! Can we get a behind the scenes follow up with how you got the tones? Cheers and happy Thanksgiving!
Nice playing Paul! Can you play that Mario Theme also when the game almost end in 99 nervous seconds?😂👍
There are numerous songs from Final Fantasy 7 that I love making new arrangements for. Especially the new versions of them from the remake and sequel.
The last one is just 🤌
you get a like for the pink panther theme - and the foreshadowed Wonderwall lolz
Jingle bells my first song i played on guitar🥰
Thanks!!!!! you're awesome
Great video. Suicide - the Mash theme. Arcade games: Mappy and I think RacerX the little F1 car that puffs smoke
House of the Rising Sun was my first (and only) guitar tune. Doable for a rank beginner like myself, but also very "harmonic"?
That James Bond theme!!!! WOW!
Oh I think you missed a nice rhythmic quirk on Odd to Joy, the last bar starts slightly earlier than what you played :)
SB "Every Advanced Guitarist Should Know" (because...damn.)
Packington's Pound is a good melody to start with.
That jump scare at 1:59 got me good
I don't get it. Is it wonderwall?
@ yup, you got it haha.
My friends will thank you for giving me another reason to pick up the guitar at every birthday party. 😁
Beethoven was excellent. Great job!
When you played "ode to joy" it was similar in places to "Streets of London" by Ralph McTell.
Killin me w that oasis reference 😂😂😂😂
[04:34] Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
awesome
for the first time ever i enjoyed listening to happy birthday
THE BUNNINGS THEME!
Probably a boring video to make but maybe one of the most inspiring videos in a while. These are the tunes that we often forget make the guitar so fun again. Bravo from 🌻Kansas
Twinkle Twinkle was MOZART!
Not true. Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman", K. 265/300e, is a piano composition by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed when he was around 25 years old (1781 or 1782). 'It's a ME, a MARIO! Ok here I go...'
Amazing
2:30 Tante Constance en Tante Matilde,
Woonden eendrachtig en knus bij elkaar
I loved Charlie Para's rendition of the Power Rangers theme. Although maybe not for this list exactly... 😅
love it😊
