This really shows that the full potential of the original Intellivision rarely got taken advantage of. Great job!

This is what the Intellivision version should have been!

1:08 - If only it were that easy to get onto that platform. The time players would save not having to go back and forth on that spring hoping to get the big bounce at the right time.

First off, why take all the time to make a game and give it away for free. $50-$60 is a tank of gas. People deserve to be rewarded.
Secondly, the main goal of Coleco’s ports were to be intentionally dumpy and thus make their Colecovision branded stuff seem better in comparison. Wasn’t about maximizing the Intellivision version to make those customers happy. In fact, the polar opposite.

Yes indeed and because of that,FUCK coleco for doing such brutal practice back then.

I could tell from the opening scene that it's using the IntyBASIC standard music tracker.

Some of the sound effects sound like the sound effects on Ice Climber on the NES.

Game looks great for Intellivision. The guy playing it sucks so badly at it though, it it is frustrating to watch.
Although, it is always annoying when someone comes along with Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong Jr. and says "I'm gonna FIX Nintendo's mistake in the order of these levels!" It wasn't a mistake. They purposely ordered the levels that way. They WANTED Mario's hideout or the pie factory in DK to be hard enough to get to that it felt like an accomplishment to see them. It is also missing the whole point of arcade games and their difficulty progression across the limited levels. Just having all 4 levels in a row from the start makes the game much more repetitive.
Believe it or not, Nintendo knew how to design a fun, challenging arcade game more than home brewers. And they did the level order for a reason.

Too bad it's only on un affordable Cartridges only format and no ROM, I hate it when Intellivision Home Brews are released only in cartridge format and just discontinued forever and never eventually released in ROM Format after they recover the costs of producing the cartridges. I'm glad Carl released DK Arcade in ROM Format, Awesome game.

They usually charge like 60$ for a copy and print like 4 of them. Its bs.

I agree. The market for this is naturally small; very select. The effort should be pushed towards preservation, not only of existing titles, but disseminating the knowledge and experience of those still making them, so that we don't lose these wonderful late examples, nor the ability to stop making them because those who could, simply left.
Make a game, sure, sell some carts, make back the money on the carts, then release the ROM and the source code. Then you have the ability for things to continue without having to reinvent the wheel when somebody new comes along.

@@tschak909 This is exactly what Intellivision Revolution has been doing. They have released more roms of homebrew games than anyone else and they don't charge anything for them.
They are just a publisher and don't own the source code to games. Many homebrew developers do make it available though and it's required for entrants of the IntyBasic Programming Contest.
Source code for a particular game isn't very useful though compared to the resources and the dev community who are happy to help. Intellivision may very well be the easiest classic console to develop for now.
