- It's the drag race you never knew you wanted to see. A member of the holy trinity - the McLaren P1 drag racing the race car version of itself, the P1 GTR. The P1 then goes up against the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N to see how these two hypercars compare to a road car!

@@romaan843 0-200 was 10.98 @11:49 that P1 wasnt running right. Seems like it was just the ICE doing the work. 7.0 sec 100-200 is like what 600-700hp cars do

100-200km/h of 7.04 seconds for the P1, finishing the 1/4 mile at 205km/h (127mph).
100-200km/h of 4.31 seconds for the P1 GTR, finishing the 1/4 mile at 240km/h (149mph).
Looking at the stats, it does show there could’ve been an issue with the P1. Yes the P1 GTR should be quicker but that was bus lengths.
The difference in trap speeds is also quite huge, one of 22mph (35km/h). I’d expect (estimated guess) a difference of about 7-12mph max in the 1/4 mile. Still though, awesome to watch?
p1 gtr is on wet tyres, so could go faster on prepped track. alot of gravel on that road.
Standard P1 traps 150 mph in quarter mile
Randy's McLaren P1 did 10.1 sec @149 mph with two people in the car
60-130 mph 4.9 seconds verified by DRAGY
Motortrend tested 9.8 sec @150 mph
That is on non prepped surface

Yup, both could go faster. The P1 more so than the P1 GTR. Though I still do believe the P1 GTR is a lot quicker than the P1, but not by as much as shown in the video.

This McLaren P1 can do much
better more like 9.8 seconds @150 mph quarter mile with warm tires and a good surface
On drag strip or Prepped surface this McLaren P1 can actually do 9.2,9.3 seconds quarter mile @152 mph

Alborz won because he let the car shift itself.
Paul was paddle shifting it manually which is always going to be slower Vs letting the car row its own gears.
Not only that but old mate jumped the start too.
Also the race versions tend to have much more downforce and are generally slower in 0-100 race. They will destroy the street versions on the track though.

Never clicked on a video so fast! I know people say this all the time but the LaFerrari and P1, and their track versions, are just some of my dream cars. All high on the list. And I’ve always wanted to see a race between them. Awesome video!

Watching the Hyundai at the end take off from in the cabin is literally my favourite sensation, just the silentness butt seeing it fly like a rocket omg.

It's always funny to see the hero's think they can change gears better than the car and they always lose looking at you Paul 😂, nobody knows how to accelerate through the gears quicker than the car, let it do it's thing as Alborz did and look what happened.

Just to put it in perspective. That McLaren ran just over 240kmph. That's 150mph. That's enough speed to run an 8 second pass over the 1/4 mile

p1 was low on E-power/hybrid boost, only logical explanation of why it was so slow. not making full power.

I do not care if the Hyundai would beat a top fuel dragster. I would not want it anyway. It is a oversized suv, that hardly can corner (I know it does good laptimes on some tracks, but it is cause of the acceleration, not the cornering abilities)
Nothing to be amazed, a pumped up scissor lift can do that with the right battery and right motors, lazy engineering 😊😊

Wow! Gtr trap speed is off the chain! Should run a 9 on a prepped surface.
The normal P1 run it's first run good and the next runs bad like it had no power or no battery left. Look at how the GTR did not catch him in the first run but in the next runs the P1 is just like hitting a wall above 100 km/h. 7s from 100-200 is very bad and not realistic for the P1. And them finding excuses like jump start to mask the problem they had with the P1 is not transparent with the public...

This is a test where they can prove that EV can beat ICE. How about a test where ICE can beat EV…lap tests in a real race track for multiple laps. Or a back road.

Dusty, dirty, unprepared road really hampers the P1 speed considerably due to it being rwd. P1 do very low 10s and 0-100 in high 2 sec range on a prepped surface. First three gears you could tell the P1’s were virtually skating on ice.
So...I don't know the DA in your area - but it must be 20000 feet with those times and worse - MPH trap speeds. The P1 was about 6 tenths slower than my BMW M5 Competition which ran a 10.8 at 129.5 MPH - and 1.2 seconds slower than my 720S which ran 10.1 at 145 MPH bone stock - as a 720S is known to do. Great entertainment - but man oh man those times and MPH trap speeds are beyond terrible.

This content SUCKS when you don't have drivers of matched skill level. Road car should win EVERY race when the engine specs are similar. It's a drag and downforce issue.
Should call out the speed when they go past to give an idea of when they pass
