Howdy Master Seyran ! Always a joy to watch you dig thru your scrap pile , choose the one piece of steel that you are going to create something ( we don’t have any idea! ) but you grind , forge, cut , pound, forge, grind & cut - till You have created a multi layered Damascus“Kitchen-Knife“, that even Steven Seagal would be proud to wear - - Anywhere ! Also a Beautiful manly wood handle that compliments it quite well!! Keep pounding over there in Azerbaiyan & I’ll keep watching over here in Arizona!
Serious question - Why not just fold the metal while it's still hot, rather than cooling it down and cutting it with the power tool? Thanks in advance, I always welcome the opportunity to learn.
Would’ve been good if the knife was on screen to admire for more than 3 seconds. Would’ve been nice to have several 3-5 second shots of the knife, so we can see and admire the final product. Not just a quick flash and end.
Im not sure why the content creator hasnt answered the question that is repeated over and over ? The white salt looking powder is Borax its referred to as flux when it melts it provides a protective layer against decarb and oxidation, two things that hamper the forge welding process. Looks to be just common everyday Borax like the kind a lot use as a laundry additive. its an unnecessary part of the process but does raise the odds of successful forge welds,if i can make a suggestion if thats regular borax and you like its effects try Anhydrous Borax its cleaner and more effective
How many channels does this guy honestly need? I've found 4 different channels of him bladesmithing. I love his work, but four different channels of the same thing man, pretty ridiculous.
That is a very nice knife. How would you get 750 layers of steel from cutting your billet into 6 pieces and then doing it again. Simple math would say that was twelve layers, if we multiply then it would be 36 layers. So where are the other 714 layers. I'm not trying to be a jerk; I like your videos and I always watch them. I was really looking forward to 750 layers. 🤔
Unless I missed it, or he didn't record it, he used a single piece of steel when he made his initial cuts and stacks. As you said the math is wrong too. So even though he was cutting and stacking it looked like mono-steel the entire video until he acid etched and suddenly it became Damascus. Besides that the thumbnail and title convinced me never to come back here.
Buddy who said it’s not Damascus look up what’s Damascus steel it’s hammered welded steel strips that are layered and hammered multiple times to make a wavy pattern that’s exactly what he did lol the steel from Damascus syria is not that much different from the steel in the americas it’s the process that makes it stronger and with pattern
@@sanjaysarkar1457 yeah, here we go. A guy called Sanjay that wants to teach me about english. So Sanjay… want to put some money where your mouth is? I’m not being critical…but i don’t understand how that equates to 750 layers 🤷♂️ ….i think that maybe, i’m not understanding the exponential layering of Damascus, somehow 🤷♂️. Can anyone explain this to me, like I’m 5, please 😳
Used steel? I can't say if it's a good blade, it can be some low grade steel not suitable for blades, like you can see for example on Pakistani knives (most of them). Also a few times I saw a lot of sparks - decarbonisation. Otherwise nice work.
1 No veo las 750 capas, solo he contado 36.
It absolutely has been forged. Forging is defined as a manufacturing process involving the shaping of metal using localized compressive forces delivered by a hammer or die. He clearly forge welded several layers of steel into a billet, drew it into shape, and created a blade. What about that process is not forging?
I see and appreciate that you are working with limited resources, but I wonder what the knife you worked so hard on will be used for? A hunting knife? A kitchen knife? A tactical knife? Or all of them? Why don't you be more creative when modeling?
I only counted 49 layers.. but I really wasn't looking at how many sections of steel he originally cut out.. I thought he started with seven pieces. Guess I'm wrong
All that equipment and he still can’t forge a blade. Anyone can grind a knife shape and heat-treat it. Why even bother making the blank? You can order them and end up with the same result.
Sayın ustam her şeyden önce size kolaylıklar diliyorum. Merak ettiğim bir konuda sizden yanıt bekliyorum dikkatle sizi ve daha birçok ustayı izlediğimde kızgen demirin üstüne tuz , karabiber, kimyon gibi ( elbette buda işin esprisi) toz halınde ilaveler katıyorsunuz bunların gereçk isimleri nedir ve neden bunları ilave ediyorsunuz fızgın demire katkıları nelerdir. Bu konuda bilgisi olanlarda mümkünse yanıt verebilir. Selamlar herkese..
Interesting process to watch although the fact that you chose not to wear anything to protect your eyes made me cringe. 😳 Would respectfully suggest wearing eye protection as at anytime during your grinding and forging process a spark, piece of swarf etc could end up in your eye(s) and cost you your sight 😢
I saw 6 layers then cut into 6 pieces and re-layered. so 6x6= 36, but nowhere near 750. He had to have cut out hours of forging and restacking or its 36 layers.
I enjoy watching you create.

Cocaine
Borax, it helps to fuse the metal together
Not having a disc guard on that grinder is so dangerous. you can lose an eye in a flash.

that isn't 750 layers
I only counted 49 layers.. but I really wasn't looking at how many sections of steel he originally cut out.. I thought he started with seven pieces. Guess I'm wrong
I'm sure he didn't show the same thing over it would be a 9 hr video i have done a 1000 layered blade before it takes days of forging
I believe I count 14 ???
36 layers, he started with 6 then cut into 6 sections and restacked. Probably didn't show all forge welds though. It would be a bit repetitive.
He never indicated how many layers the original billet was
Forged a nice piece of steel would be good to see you forge the knife instead of tracing and cutting it out. Only my opinion thanks for your video.
Hey, you should warn us before welding, my eyes are hurting

.
Nice knife, but I didn't see anything that looked like the piece from the thumbnail. Disappointing.
Yeah super disappointing that he only showed a thumbnail of him forging the blade. What’s wrong with you?
@@Dunning_Kruger_Is__On_TH-cam Where's the 750 layers genius?

ffs IT IS NOT DAMASCUS!! pattern welding is really cool. call it what it is, pattern welding. this is as close to Damascus steel as toilet paper.
I saw 6 layers then cut into 6 pieces and re-layered. so 6x6= 36, but nowhere near 750. He had to have cut out hours of forging and restacking or its 36 layers.
