A bladesmith myself I am totally amazed by your skill set. Every part of this build is fantastic. For you to do it all is mind-blowing. As Japanese bladesmithing goes every one is a specialist. Bladesmith, tsuba maker, Saya maker, polisher and more. So many artists are involved in one blade but you are doing it all. Amazing! My hat's off to you with a deep bow.
Unbelievable craftsmanship. This deserved number 1 spot in my opinion. Too many smiths get wrapped up in the intricacies of complex mosaic patterns in their blades, and that's mostly what they focus on. And that's fine. But the historical accuracy and the quality of the fittings and handle in this build were by far the best in the competition, again, in my opinion.

You're a great artist beyond most mortals. You should be working under a king doing his bidding. Every step is thought out and followed thru with exacting detail. I'm so fond of you videos because of the exact detail you make yourself follow. I don't know what drives you but whatever it is, I wish I had more of it.
👑 MASTERPIECE 👑 How unspeakably pleasant to realize that despite the fact that we all live in the age of technology, there are still great masters who create and maintain such a Supreme Art! Thank you, Venerable Master, for creating such beauty! 🙏🏻😌🥰
It's my first comment on a video of yours after being a subscriber for years. I truly love your craftsmanship and vision, as well as your ability to showcase your art in the highest quality possible. An inspirational artist you are, dear sir. Thank you for sharing your craft with us. Best wishes!
I always enjoy watching your videos. very skillful quality work. Don't see many youtube smiths grinding fullers in swords by hand. Great Job! Watching from Tx USA.
The lenticular edge you put on that is absolutely brutal... and beautiful. A tough, strong, razor sharp edge that will stay wicked-sharp with little fuss.
Wow! What an amazing build. Absolute pleasure to watch your craftsmanship. It's one of the very best swords I've ever seen, and I watch a lot of these types of videos.
Absolutely blown away with your skill, you are true artist of your trade. This is one ot the best, if not the vest videos on sword making I've come across. Your workshop is amazing. If I was a rich man I'd be knocking on your door. I'd have a dozen of those swords made. That sword I would say would have been better than any sword made at the time they were used the quality of the steel you used I think is better. Your skill is amazing. Absolutely loved watching this thank you 👍👍👍👍👍 Please do lore videos
Very beautiful craftsmanship on all aspects from start to finish. I have been looking for something like this to be passed down through my family. I have learned to do a lot of the different skills involved in creating an item as such but I am in no means within the same skill level as this. Therefore I have been looking for someone to create for me.
Just excellent. My full endorsement. There are always "functional" things that are also included in these swords. A sharper tip, and one the "river'" flows into the infinity. These swords were also used for piercing but not at the expense of the flow of a slice. Which is the second/third items....the hand guard is to keep your hand from sliding up on the blade. That is it's main job. Not to keep another sword from slicing off your fingers. Even if it were made out of similar steel to the blade would not keep another good sword from slicing through it, or over it, cutting off your fingers (a main target of sword/knife fighting). Third is the guard helps pull the blade out if it gets stuck (in a bone, etc.) If the blade is sharpened all the way down to the guard and does not have unsharpened recesses in it (big enough for gloved fingers), you cannot hook your fingers or hand(s) around it to pull the blade out. Another reason for extra "balls" or hooks at the ends of the guard, is to keep your hands/fingers from sliding off it when pulling it out of something. The pommel shape helps this too as well as counter balance the weight of the blade for smoother slicing, You doen't want the blade to "pull you in" when swinging it. The pommel shape and size also help in two handed stabbing as well. The other hand goes over the end of the pommel to push. These are not critcisms, just other design items that were included in many of these swords.
YOUR KNIFE/BLADE SKILLS HOW COME A LONG LONG WAY IN SUCH A FEW YEARS WELL DONE TO YOU I SEE THAT YOU HAVE A LOT MORE TOOL'S IN YOUR SHOP NOW KEEP THE GOOD WORK UP 👍 👏
Blackbeard, have been following you for years and your videos are always so wonderful and you are insanely talented. all the best from Hawaii. aloha...
I have to say that I was a bit worried when you made the pommel and guard out of particle board. I was seriously worried for the beauty and practicality of the sword :P

How do they make swords so beautiful when they had no power or grinders all had to be done by hand Forge and Hammer
Awesome sword. Hated to see it didn’t take number 1, but it is incredible. Thanks for making such great content.
Black beard got robbed.
Who did win? I was following the challenge then got too busy.
@@dmac8207 Tyrell Knifeworks. No shame in coming in second to his work, but it was a heartbreaker to me. I think the Serpent Blade was fantastic.
@@lkdenve Link?
It was the tip, where the serpents mouth could have been better. Joined more symmetrically. Beautiful build though, I agree.

Also, do Italians actually do long swords? That's kind of gladius length.
Sure! But Viking swords are one handed :)

First time viewer here! Would be nice if you could put headings to let us know what you're doing/each stage
this is absolute art, but for some reason i much more enjoy forging without power tools and sawing.
Also that pommel and handguard art.... wow...
What a master piece!❤
I'm curious as to how many hours it took you to make this absolutely beautiful sword?
Mr. Data, nicely done.
Sei un bravissimo artigiano!!!!!😮😮😮
Can you please tell me how long it took you to make this viking sword perfect?
About 6 weeks. But I'm slow since I'm making videos about it. Cheers!
This is an amazing build.
