Miðgarðsormr, The Serpent Blade Viking Sword: Full Build from Start to Finish + Test Cuts
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 1 มิ.ย. 2024
- Welcome to the complete movie of my Viking Sword project! This video encapsulates one of the most comprehensive Viking sword build presentations on TH-cam, showcasing every step of the journey, including the intricate process of crafting the guard, pommel, and handle assembly.
This video compiles all the episodes, bringing together the entire process of creating the "Serpent in the Blade" Viking sword. As a special addition, enjoy some previously unreleased clips at the end, featuring sharpening and test cuts.
The sword's cutting prowess is remarkable. Tested with the traditional Tameshigiri, it sliced through the mats with precision. Test cuts through rolled tatami mats, simulating human limbs, are known to be a difficult and skill-based task. Since I've done this only once before, whether it's luck or the blade's exceptional sharpness compensating for skill, the result are impressive.
This project spanned several months and now that all recordings are complete, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your support throughout this journey.
Thank you so much for watching!

Unbelievable craftsmanship. This deserved number 1 spot in my opinion. Too many smiths get wrapped up in the intricacies of complex mosaic patterns in their blades, and that's mostly what they focus on. And that's fine. But the historical accuracy and the quality of the fittings and handle in this build were by far the best in the competition, again, in my opinion.
Awesome sword. Hated to see it didn’t take number 1, but it is incredible. Thanks for making such great content.
Black beard got robbed.
Who did win? I was following the challenge then got too busy.
@@dmac8207 Tyrell Knifeworks. No shame in coming in second to his work, but it was a heartbreaker to me. I think the Serpent Blade was fantastic.

You're a great artist beyond most mortals. You should be working under a king doing his bidding. Every step is thought out and followed thru with exacting detail. I'm so fond of you videos because of the exact detail you make yourself follow. I don't know what drives you but whatever it is, I wish I had more of it.
He should be the King, doing his own bidding!

good job
But you have recently been interested in iron works and the like, I hope we will see other works such as wood and the like as soon as possible. Good luck my friend.😉
I want one!
nice
Beautiful sword. I'm almost afraid to think about the number of hours spent on it.
Incredible job but did you make sure it wasn't magnetic before you quenched off screen
This is a very strange (positive !!) vid. The content and the process became more and more difficult and mindblowing ! An absolute masterpiece of craftsmanship .
Thx a lot of sharing. Greetings.
PS: how many hours does it take to build this beauty ?
Thank you!! Not sure, about six weeks of work with filming and everything else. Cheers!
It is truly a work of art.....I want to buy one, but I couldn't afford it 🤔
Can you please tell me how long it took you to make this viking sword perfect?
About 6 weeks. But I'm slow since I'm making videos about it. Cheers!
Very nice sword. Its good to see Jörmungandr is remembered. Whats next Níðhöggr?
It is a so great work,I love it,du you sell it?
I'm angry at myself; this blade was in the lead for getting my vote for the Viking Challenge. I just had three more videos to watch then I could cast my vote, but the contest suddenly ended and I didn't get to vote. Didn't know when the end date was.
amazing sword 🤩, I'm not suggesting anything but maybe an ax would be a good companion 😏
Please, tell us the composition of the alloy from which you made the fittings. I see copper and silver, but also...zinc? Aluminum? And, at what ratio?
I described it in the fittings dedicated video. It's classic bronze: copper, tin and a bit of lead. You can see % in the other video :)
Beautiful work!
Also, do Italians actually do long swords? That's kind of gladius length.
Sure! But Viking swords are one handed :)
This feels like something Alec Steele made a few years ago
NOICE
what kind of material do you use for baking?
Sure would be nice to know what kind of metal you're using for this and that otherwise it just kind of gets boring if I don't know what's going on
More details about metals in the other dedicated episodes. This is a recap, skipped some of the details. Cherrs
🔥🔥🔥
👍👍👍
На заказ такой сделать сколько будет стоить , бро ?
Also known as Jörmungandur
What exactly is that "scale" that falls off? I'm assuming it's some sort of oxide but what exactly?
Iron Oxide I think :)
@@BlackBeardProjects so does that mean that you actually lose some of the metal to scale? Even if it's a small percent of the total? That's why I asked the question. I didn't realize that some of the metal reacts with the air due to the high heat (assuming)
23:35 nomnom :)
47:00 the forbidden Gatorade.
I just need to go change my pants.
Да, хороший меч. Бошку срубит. 100 пудов.😊
What type of metal was the plate he melted down?
Pewter!
Из чело у тебя штихели?
Im genuinely disappointed that this didnt win. 😢
Please don't! It's all good :) Thank you for your support
