Model Railway- First service in 20 years, never leaving it this long again!

- Service of the Hornby - Duchess of Sutherland in 00 gauge, it hasn’t been serviced in 20 years so this is my first detail clean and service, it’s been a great runner but noticed it was lacking power it was boxed for 18 years but now I’m making my way through my collection to make a diary note of when to service my loco’s every few months as soon they will be used a lot more when I start my new 00 gauge layout.

Ah the hornby duchess of Sutherland really good engine have two of them brought off chesterfield market got told they didn't work turned out they did just need good strip down n clean they been running ten years now never had problem with them since great video 😀😀😀😀😀😀

Great video, up to a point. Unfortunately, there was a lot going on the camera couldn’t pick up. But it did show me quite a lot of technique I didn’t know.

Nice work Mark, I take it all that effort was worth while. Interestingly I didn't know that model came with working lights and I saw by the strip down the chassis and keeper plate still had the slots for loco drive, could be an upgrade path for the future as those tender motors where never the best. I've had to replace the one in my City of Leeds with a CD motor upgrade as the original just got slower and slower and no amount of servicing would help it.

Also it helps to work on a clean surface. A dirty one won't help at all.🙃
Cool video I’ve just brought one of these and it was the first time on the track today, unfortunately when I opened the parcel and got the loco out the magnet in between the wheels/axles had fallen apart! Don’t suppose you know where I could get one? Many thanks Jim
