Hello and welcome to my model railway layout update. In this video I continue more work on the top level, adding in gardens, walls and a car park. I also start work on the pathing and weathering.
Some new additions to the layout are shown, 3 new Oxford die cast models, some Bachmann BR mk1 suburban coaches, an NE miniatures war memorial plus some AK terrains asphalt road texture for the road surface. Also a few hints as to what the next layout update will feature…

Hi Mark.
Good idea to practice on the older carriages.
Got a lot of patience with those paving slabs.
Same as the rest of your comments that memorial is superb.
You're making a brilliant job of the layout
Stay safe buddy.

Many thanks slow and steady, hope your keeping well 🙂
Looking great Mark, it’s really coming together mate!
Thank you Craig can’t wait to do more just the drying times are now taking longer 😬
Nice video, like the pavements. You doing what I have planned to do experiment with old stock with weathering. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much, yeah I think I’ll have to practice a lot would not want to ruin something brand new 😬
Superb addition with the war memorial - very fitting. The pavements are looking great - just finish's off the scene. I'm just lazy and use the metcalfe kit paving stones - perhaps I should start looking at other options.
Regards
Steve
Hey steve, been watching your progress too and it’s looking great, sorry I left a like on your video but only just catching up on my channel after 9 days straight at work, the slabs that I used are the metcalfe ones, just coated with pva and acrylic to totally change the look, hope your keeping well and thanks for watching- Mark
@@HemelDownModelRailway cheers Mark - thanks for that info - will have a go at doing that for mine - looked really good.
Great video Mark. Just found your channel and have subscribed. Roy.
Incredible attention to detail Mark wow, the war memorial will look incredible painted up.
Thanks Deano, hope your keeping well mate
Nice update Mark. Loving the detail of the paving slabs. They look so real! Loving the way the layout is coming along. Looking forward to the next one. Take care - Riggsy
Thanks Riggsy, really appreciate your support and kind comment, hope your keeping well
Wonderful work, Mark and the statue is very well made. Painted up a bit, it will be great as a centerpiece for a small park or town roundabout. Nice!
thanks Anthony
good vid thanks lee
Looking good, as usual, Mark! I think most memorials have some sort of level hard-standing around them, or at least steps up to them, so that wreaths can be laid etc. The immediate areas around are generally always well maintained too. A nice addition to a layout! Cheers. Mike
Hi Mike, yeah that’s a really good point and something I will consider didn’t even think of that, there is one very close to where I live so may go take a picture and copy the surrounding area, hope your keeping well
Hey Mark! Been a long time! Starting to really look good! I've been enjoying your videos these last few months! Will you be going to the Warley show? I would love to meet up and grab a cuppa if you're there on Saturday! :)
Hey Will, no sorry no Warley for me this year as I have to work this weekend, thanks for taking the time to watch the updates, definitely still want to meet up so I’ll have to plan that trip to York museum in the spring or summer would be great to meet up at some point, hope your keeping well 🙂👍🏻
Hi Mark, great opening scene. Did you 3d print the The Lock Inn or cut the letters out?
It didn’t look like you were using PVA for the grass? Is that the WWScenics brand of glue?
Everything is looking great Mark. you might want to try pastel powders for weathering the coaches, they are cheap and effective. Buy the soft type you can scrape off. If you mix in some baby powder it goes on more smoothly. You can always clean it off with a soft rag before you commit to fixing it.
👍
No it came with the kit, so I used wws basing glue which is a little different to pva not as rubberised when it dries
The devil is in the detail.
God is in the detail.
The other way round, why would you bother with detailed work?
This way round, you're happy, He's happy, nay probs.
