I love you guys for this my name is Montoya Williams far right tall ass snareline yeah it got cleaner at finals sometimes I had to look down to see if I was still hitting the damn drum it was so clean.....ICONS of the 90's glad to be a part of this....thanks guys
While yall thought a lot of this looked goofy, they were the first to do most of these visuals and it fit perfectly with the front ensemble and horn book. 97 was iconic for battery. They featured the line in musical spots you'd not expect. Every solo and showcase was a moment in this show. The camera guys actually did a fair job showing it for once as well. I took my dad to his first DCI show and when they performed the warmup with ditty in the backfield my dad was like "yup they just won". Scores didn't show how superior this corps was to 2nd place.
@@mattklinghamer370 95 had Sean Vega 94-97, Geoff Fry 95 (Brit rudimentary TH-camr), Camden McConnell 94-96 (Marched Top Bass for SCV 92-93), Dave Turner 95-96 - Was marching in the 97 line, but had to drop out right before tour and Chris Burroughs (95-97) stepped in for Dave.
Center snare (Nathan Eby) was my instructor my sophomore year. He and another guy from the line made me a custom VHS tape with this stuff and more before it was all put on the Blue Devil dvds. Had stuff from 95-98. All lot. My brother took it and lost it......so angry
I was with Kiwanis Kavaliers marching sop/trumpet this year and got to see this show a bunch. You mentioned them playing with pretty high stick heights. If I remember right, they were pretty far back field a lot of the show and the horn line this year (and 98 for that matter) was loud af so it makes sense. Had to play high stick heights just to balance.
That speed of light snare roll phrase that follows the snare/quad metric modulation, and ends with hits as tight as a cat's butt still holds as my favorite DCI snare roll to this day. Y'all had some real balls.
I love how you guys can’t get through an entire tune before one of you is like “I NEED THAT AGAIN!” Haha. Amazing drumline! And if you ever get a chance to see that double stop quad section in the “Night in Tunisia” tune, you gotta see it from another angle! It’s crazier than you think!
You guys should try to find the bd dvd that came out towards the end of ‘97. It has footage from ‘95, ‘96, and ‘97. There was a book that had a-lot of the show beats as well. Sorry, i can’t remember the name, but i have seen some videos posted on youtube from that dvd.
Forgot to add - I have NO idea what the "Happy Birthday" means. My high school/Mandarins tenor tech took this video, so maybe it was pre-set to play on his birthday?
Please react to ''WGI 1993 Champions CW" video. This is the FIRST WGI Gold Medalist in Percussion. Dave Glyde and Jeff Lee arranged a Dave Weckl inspired show. 2 Snares from the Iconic 1997 BD Snare line were in the Clovis West HS (Fresno, Ca) group. You may be surprised...enjoy!
When you guys gonna do a 95 Devil's? I've followed drum corps since 86 and that 95 Devil's tenor feature is still the sickest one yet! Btw, Love the podcasts!
Really enjoyed that 93 Star. I went to EKU with Koontz, Drew Schneiders, and Brian Coley(Rogue) sat in Koontz's jeep so I could hear a 93 judges tape at a party. Amazing line! I thought the 92 line was pretty underrated and over looked, too. Great line, hell of a book. Anyways love the videos!

Citrus Bowl love
I miss 90s drum corps, going in the lot and watching everyone warmup. Drum Corps today doesn't seem like Corps anymore which breaks my heart.
Naoiki Ishikawa absolutely killed it on that snare line.
This was THE line we were all trying to be like for more than a decade after the fact.
A pretty good goal to have. They were decent 😂😂
Dreskii my boy what up love bro congrats on the marriage brother I love y'all
Here's question - what year did the the tenor players start standing up straight.... 96?

That tenor line is legendary: Chris Burroughs , Sean Vega, Pete Friedhoff, and Rudy Garcia
Oh shit. Sean Vega was in that quad line??
@@agedoutpodcast yes sir! His age out year
How many of the quads were in that ridiculous 95 line? OMG! I still remember looking at the Pasic article for the tenor feature🤯
There were 5 quads in ‘95, but i think only 2 on the ‘97 line were carryovers from ‘95 and ‘96 for that matter. That ‘96 line was amazing as well.

Rudy Garcia was 17 on the quad line. Wow.
I was in the snareline right next to him at 17. Hahahaha babies came up from B corps smashing shit hahahaaha
Thanks for checking out the video guys! Love the podcast and the reaction videos. Many many more will be coming out!
Sweet. Just saw a velvet knights 92 video go up. Can’t remember, is that yours?
@@agedoutpodcast That one isn't mine - the earliest stuff I have is from 93. I'll have to check it out though!

14:45 is a really cool moment in contrast, because the guards are literally weaving their sabres above the drum heads during crossover section
That’s cool. Gonna have to try to find this somewhere to see it.

Nice. We’ll try to find it somewhere.
I love when dudes get hyped about the lines of my era. What a great time it was to be in this activity.
Gotta make sure the new generations don’t forget about this stuff. It’s too good hah
@@agedoutpodcast I'd love you guys to check out 94 Devs, 99 SCV, and 2000 Cavaliers
Sorry , but the 95’-97’ bd line was probably the best ever.
The quad double stop part at 11:21 moving around the quads🤯🤯🤯! Holy smokes they were good that year.
Yea quad drumming frequently blows our minds 😂
"the hell are the quads doing?" 2 seconds later "Jezusss..."
Don’t apologize for the length...would gladly listen to a longer video of this. Great content guys!
Hah thanks!
Scojo rockin’ the Corpsmaster shirt. Vic Firth Blue Devils!

I was a BDB brat that summer and watched in awe every chance I got. They were SO clean, and that book will always be one of my favorites!

this was so much fun to watch, thank you guys!

Haha. Yea we were like...what the hell is this? 😂😂
It'd be neat to see some open class corps get some love like Revolution, Blue Devils B, Oregon Crusaders, Genesis before they joined world class, etc.
Yea. We’ve actually been talking about branching out into that. We’ll see. Definite possibility.
Crown 2010 with Eric carr next! Maybe a podcast too

Stop talking.
But you clicked on a reaction video… I’m confused. The link to the original video is on there also. It’s definitely worth the listen on its own.
The difference between then and now is men vs. boys. Modern drum lines don’t play through the head instead they dance around like little sprites
