So much misinformation on here from all the fan boys and supposed car guys. 😂🤣😂🤣 An ST on a ZFG E50 tune and a whipple intercooler can gap C7’s with ease, let alone an SRT Durango (modded or not). Pure turbos, E85, downpipes, etc and the Explorer has no issues hitting 60 in 3.0-3.2 seconds. Stock internals are good to go, but the transmission is the weak point. A lot of guys are sending them out to Level 10 to be built. This particular ST is set up damn well and he’s got it running right.

I raced a decommissioned police explorer in my 96 Mustang and it was tragic for my car. I got out on him and then pedaled because i left a little early. He immediately came around me on the pedal and i had no chance reeling him back in.

That explorer is 100% not stock. Stock it makes far less power than an SRT and isn’t that much lighter. You aren’t running sub 12 with 360 horsies in anything that weighs more than a ton
@@Tevon93 okay so I was wrong about the 360 hp, that was the earlier model years, buuuut, the quickest of google searches tells you that the ford has 400hp and 415 ft-lbs of torque and has a curb weight of 4700lbs and the Durango SRT makes 475hp and 470 ft-lbs of torque and has a curb weight of 5300lbs. The Durango goes 0-60 in 4.1 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 12.7 seconds. The explorer does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and runs the quarter in 13.9 seconds. If you do the math, The power to weight ratio is almost equal but the Durango still comes out on top there too with the explorer at .085 horsepower per pound and the Durango at .089 horsepower per pound. So yeah, I was wrong about how many horsies, but I’m pretty damn sure that explorer has had some work done to it. The Durango is right about where it should be, the explorer is really not.
It’s the gear ratios in the ten speed. It puts more consistent torque on the ground to all four wheels. The auto trans in it will crush manual shifting now due to gear ratios.
People in the comments don't realize that horsepower isn't everything. Torque, forced induction, tuning, power to weight, they all make a HUGE difference in how fast a car is. Drivetrain losses can also make a big difference.

The SRT isn't that fast. They weigh 5,300-5,700 pounds, depending on equipment and trim level. The Explorer ST is 4,700 pounds, which is 600-1,000 pounds lighter. Power isn't everything, especially when it's powering an SUV that's almost 3 tons.
That explorer is not stock. If you listen closely to the explorer when it took off against the white challenger,, that thing sounded like it had nitrous or something 🤔 I may be alot'v things but I ain't crazy an I know what I heard when the camera man was recording beside the explorer on during take off. Want something different? Get a 2017+ Ford Flex Limited. Comes with the *EASILY* tunable 3.5L V6 EcoBoost. Easily out handles the Explorer in the twisties, due in part to it's significantly lower, car-like ride height. Also, it's just as quick as the Explorer. Badges can be changed. I swapped all my engine call-out badges for tri-bar pony on my mustang because I was tired of everyone revving their engines at me when I'm just trying to go home after work.

No. The Hellcat powered Durango is supercharged. This is the standard SRT with the naturally aspirated 6.4. I've got one and it walks all over the Explorer ST. This is a stock SRT Durango vs a highly modified Explorer ST. If you put this modified Explorer ST against a stock Durango Hellcat, the Hellcat could make it to the line and back before the Explorer ST made it half way. (a bit of embellishment, but you get the idea.) The stock SRT vs stock ST is still a closer race, but the SRT wins every time.

It’s the gear ratios in the ten speed. It puts more consistent torque on the ground to all four wheels. The auto trans in it will crush manual shifting now due to gear ratios.

People in the comments don't realize that horsepower isn't everything. Torque, forced induction, tuning, power to weight, they all make a HUGE difference in how fast a car is. Drivetrain losses can also make a big difference.

The SRT isn't that fast. They weigh 5,300-5,700 pounds, depending on equipment and trim level. The Explorer ST is 4,700 pounds, which is 600-1,000 pounds lighter.
Power isn't everything, especially when it's powering an SUV that's almost 3 tons.

Stock ST does the quarter in just under 14 seconds....and the Police Explorers actually run the 3.7L good for 320hp in police trim. Worked at Ford and maintained and delivered the Explorers....

No. The Hellcat powered Durango is supercharged. This is the standard SRT with the naturally aspirated 6.4. I've got one and it walks all over the Explorer ST. This is a stock SRT Durango vs a highly modified Explorer ST. If you put this modified Explorer ST against a stock Durango Hellcat, the Hellcat could make it to the line and back before the Explorer ST made it half way. (a bit of embellishment, but you get the idea.) The stock SRT vs stock ST is still a closer race, but the SRT wins every time.
@@GarrettGalloway as a Durango Hellcat owner that is unfortunately not true. Stock the Hellcat is listed at 11.5 @ 116 (dodges NHRA certified claim), Ours has only managed 12.0 @ 113 so far. With 120+ mph traps from that Explorer it’s making serious power and is far more potent than a Durango Hellcat.
