If you need to jump it, use the fuse box under the hood. There’s a ground tab on the fender well. And there’s a positive tab on the fuse box under the red cap

Front LED turn signals were waiting for the front end redesign that came in 2021.I don't like an RT badge up front because I'n not trying to impress anyone but myself with my car and I already know it's an RT. There are jump terminals under the hood so the only time you need to access the battery is to change it, and the thing is heavy because it's a friggin' truck with a 5.7 V8 designed to tow heavy things....which is also why there is a bit of space between the tires and wheel well. Put 2300lbs on the tongue without some clearance and the tires would rub the wheel wells.
Completely agree. My 2014 had the racetrack replaced around 2019 or 2020 under warranty. It recently started to collect water again on the passenger side. Removed the screws on both sides and used black RTV along the gap all around. No more water so far. All the other complaints are as you say, opinions.
Pop the hood and you’ll see the terminals to jump start another vehicle or if you need a jump yourself. You don’t jump it from under the front passenger seat
Dodge makes an SUV that is very nice. I have had my R/T for 7 years with little problem. (The Battery has jumper pins under the hood you need to look or read the manual ) I like the Battery under the seat I changed mine out after 6 years of use in 20 min, it was easy. I still like mine and it was a reasonable price compared to most of the same size trucks with the same comforts back in 2016 and I plan on keeping mine as new cars prices are nuts. PS the R/T badge and Durango name came off mine the first time I waxed it I prefer a cleaner looking sleeper look, no one needs to know it has a 5.7 Hemi.

Also if you are using 3row suv for its intended purpose(family hauler) it would not be wise to lower it like that, or if you are going to lower it you better spend the money on the hydraulic lowering kit so you can raise it up when its all packed up for those road trips.

I love my 2012 Durango too. Besides the normal wear and tear, I have nothing but praise about this truck. She's got 170k miles and I might trade her in for another Durango (or a Ram) in the next couple months. This truck has been nothing but solid for me and my family over the years.

Some of these are definitely what I'd call nitpicks and very subjective criticisms. Where I live, I don't want less ground clearance by lowering my vehicle , for example. Additionally, the vast majority of consumers are not going to be lowering their Durango so why would/should Dodge cater to that niche aftermarket mod? It makes no business sense. If you are concerned about weight and gas mileage, you didn't do your homework before purchase. It's a Durango, which have always been heavy, and you bought one with a thirsty V8, which Durango's have always been guilty of as well (my '98 got around 15 MPG combined, if I was lucky). And yep, if you put more stuff and people in it, it gets heavier- A problem with a 40 MPG Prius as well. Overall It seems like you are complaining that the apple you bought doesn't taste like an orange. The tip on the rear lights is great- nice work.

You don't need to look for a "flap" (whatever that is). Under the hood, on the passenger side, you will find both the Positive and Negative posts that Dodge purposely placed there for you to use to jump start your vehicle. Why doesn't anyone read the manual?

And you connect battery cables to it buddy and to the negative post under the hood as well and that's how you jump start your vehicle..

You shouldn’t be jump starting under the seat, I have an RT and there is a box under the hood that you are supposed to jumpstart with; it’s in the owners manual, it sit so high because it’s rated to tow upwards of 7500 pounds, I changed the lights to LEDs…simple fix. We love our truck…no complaints here…good on you for your opinions and direct user experience. Be safe..Be Blessed.

The battery placement under the seat improves left-right and front-rear weight distribution, lowers the center of gravity, frees up room under the hood, and reduces stress on the battery that it would have experienced with underhood temperatures. It takes minutes to replace, and you won't have to install it yourself anyway. Jumper terminals are available under the hood. The only issue that seemed worth mentioning was the tail light, although I'd wager the issue has been resolved by now.
All cars have issues …. But I have way more pros than cons though with my Durango…. For the price will are still getting a lot of bang for our money! Yours looks good though bro…. I love the upgrades. . . And you can still jump your car from under the hood…. The have two post for that

The battery being inside the car keeps it out of the elements good for hot and cold weather... there are jumper points under the hood on the left side of the engine bay just a heads up also
Not so, I had my wife’s battery drain during last winter (-30c to -40c), due to lack of use. That battery just rests in a metal tub which acts like a heat sync. I actually had frost on the battery case. I’m considering a battery tender and blanket.
My 2021 Durango R/T Tow N Go has jumping posts in the engine compartment. It's on the left side. Not sure if yours is the same or not. I bet you it is. Personally, I would have tried to use some weatherstripping to seal the taillights. Like that foam weatherstripping for homes. Are you going to be able to easily remove the taillight assembly after using silicone? Edit - I see you have another video that address the jumping posts.
I use my Durango for towing so I don’t mind the ride height at all, the only thing I dislike on mine is the driver side headlight is full of water so the led doesn’t work anymore and my racetrack led is also burnt out. Warranty will not cover any of it 😢
@@niceprince it ended up not working too well. Found out it didn’t have the factory tow package so it could only do like 2500 pounds max and none of the trailer wiring worked no matter what I did to diagnose it. Ended up selling it in September and now I have a ram power wagon.

Yes the battery location sucks. I've personally changed one in my wife's 2013 Durango R/T so you can see Dodge never learned their lesson in all those years. As far as jumping it there's a positive and negative post in the engine bay for those purposes so not a very valid complaint. The weight is God awful but let's not jump over the main culprit why all Dodge Durango's suck and that's the gutless gas guzzling Hemi. Dodge would make you believe this thing was a world beater but it only beats up your gas budget and will lose to almost everything on the road currently. With 0-60 times at a manufacturer claimed 6.2sec you'd be lucky to do better than 7sec EVER!!! I'd say 7.5-8sec is what most ppl will experience in everyday conditions and get ready for 11-12mpg. And to think we traded an 07 Trailblazer SS in cuz we needed more room. I've missed it every day since. For a family SUV fine, as a performance SUV no way. And I'll give you the water in the "race track" lighting complaint cuz ppl will need to clearly see the turd they are no doubt lapping constantly.
About the battery location. 1)Does it not have the jump terminals under the hood? and 2) Be thankful it's not like my Challenger, in the trunk with no mechanical open from the exterior. So, if the battery goes bad, you have to crawl through the back seat into the trunk to open it.
I know I’m probably 2 yrs too late but there should be a positive and negative post under the hood on the left between the fuse box and the front windshield to jump start it. So you really only have to go under the seat to disconnect the battery.
The battery being under the passenger seat protects and saves the battery. The battery will last longer bc the motor produces so much heat, and heat kills the battery overtime, the battery is out of the elements under the seat. AND you can still jump your Durango under the hood. What are you talking about having to jump it under the seat?
I've got a Mercedes gl550 and battery in the same location and it's actually not bad to access and remove. Also to jump start u have battery posts under the hood for jump starting.

We have a '22 Durango RT+ AWD and it still came with the same basic Dodge grille. Otherwise I still love the Durango and the 5.7 liter platform (super easy to rebuild)
If you wanted the lighter, faster, more options get the SRT-8. dude is literally complaning cuz he bought the lower trim level. Lol. It has a high ride hight because its not a race trim. You are still able to tow and haul things. The SRT-8 is lower, lighter, faster, and has better lighting. Looks like someone didn't do their homework before they bought it. 😅😅😅
Dome lights are not supposed to be super bright. The interior lights are really on to be used at night in the dark. Have you ever gone from a bright room inside a house to stepping outside in the dark. It takes longer for your eyes to adjust. Upgrade them if you want. But know the dangers. I'm not looking to buy the R/T model so badges don't concern me. That wheel well gap is for clearance and to be able to put beefier tires on. I live in the Midwest. Mud and snow are a regular occurrence for me during their respective seasons. Battery location can be annoying. But you clearly haven't looked under your hood. There are terminals under your hood to jump start you vehicle or for you to hook up to jump start someone else. Read your manual my friend. If only dodge put it under the floor of the chargers instead of under the back seat. You would have to remove the back seat (seat portion) to get to the battery. I had a dodge Journey before and to change the battery you had to remove the front driver side tire. So yeah, I'll take it under the floor if it's not up front under the hood. As for weight, what should a full size 3 row seating SUV weigh? Have you compared it to similar sized SUVs from other manufacturers? They are all extremely similar in weight. The water seepage in the taillights was the only mechanical thing you mentioned. That is quite an annoyance, I had a vehicle that had that issue with just the driver side headlight. I tried sealing that birch like 5 times, every time I had to change the bulb because it was annoying. I ended up taking the entire headlight assembly out, smearing the entire crease with JB weld and then when I put the new bulb in I put fingernail polish all around where the bulb/socket fits into the assembly. I think the worst of the fingernail polish was that my daughters fought over which color I should use. As for the blinker being too dim..... Park on the street by your house, turn on the blinker, then walk down the street until you can't tell if the blinker is on or not. I guarantee you the flashing orange can be seen for at least 2-3 blocks away in the daylight.
Imo, the battery location is kind of dumb (like the battery in the driverside front fender on my '05 sebring) and the water intrusion will become an issue at some point. Everything else seems kind of petty in all honesty. I only really have 3 dislikes about my '04 durango 5.7l v8; gas mileage (maybe 14 mpg mixed on a good day), 16 fricking spark plugs, and the suspension/steering on my particular vehicle hasnt aged well. Other than that, i love everything else about her, and shes been paid in full, so no point in getting rid of her (193k miles and counting). :)

The tow and go can haul 7000 the normal with a added tow hitch is 3500
Get the car version if you dont need ground clearance. If you live where it snows heavy, ground clearance>AWD

You don't need to look for a "flap" (whatever that is). Under the hood, on the passenger side, you will find both the Positive and Negative posts that Dodge purposely placed there for you to use to jump start your vehicle. Why doesn't anyone read the manual?
@@onlyonecannoli3952 I don't have to read the manual...I BUILT THE TRUCK... It's a red flap under the hood and under this red flap is a positive terminal... Do you know what that is now.. And you connect battery cables to it buddy and to the negative post under the hood as well and that's how you jump start your vehicle..

You shouldn’t be jump starting under the seat, I have an RT and there is a box under the hood that you are supposed to jumpstart with; it’s in the owners manual, it sit so high because it’s rated to tow upwards of 7500 pounds, I changed the lights to LEDs…simple fix. We love our truck…no complaints here…good on you for your opinions and direct user experience. Be safe..Be Blessed.

The battery placement under the seat improves left-right and front-rear weight distribution, lowers the center of gravity, frees up room under the hood, and reduces stress on the battery that it would have experienced with underhood temperatures. It takes minutes to replace, and you won't have to install it yourself anyway. Jumper terminals are available under the hood. The only issue that seemed worth mentioning was the tail light, although I'd wager the issue has been resolved by now.
All cars have issues …. But I have way more pros than cons though with my Durango…. For the price will are still getting a lot of bang for our money! Yours looks good though bro…. I love the upgrades. . . And you can still jump your car from under the hood…. The have two post for that
Sorry but the battery location is ideal, it is out of the elements and lasts a lot longer. Also you can jump your vehicle from under the hood. No need to go under the seat

Durango's are heavy you don't buy a vehicle then complain it's heavy unless you just like complaining about things. It's an SUV and what do SUVs have they have ground clearance. Another dumb complaint. The battery can be jumped from under the hood. Lack of knowledge translates to another dumb complaint. Every single thing you complained about you literally can see before you buy it I'm not getting the point of this video unless you want to show how little you pay attention before purchasing a vehicle.

Not so, I had my wife’s battery drain during last winter (-30c to -40c), due to lack of use. That battery just rests in a metal tub which acts like a heat sync. I actually had frost on the battery case. I’m considering a battery tender and blanket.
Biggest disappointment is Durango still doesn't have a Panoramic Sunroof and 22 inches Rims.

My 2021 Durango R/T Tow N Go has jumping posts in the engine compartment. It's on the left side. Not sure if yours is the same or not. I bet you it is.
Personally, I would have tried to use some weatherstripping to seal the taillights. Like that foam weatherstripping for homes. Are you going to be able to easily remove the taillight assembly after using silicone?

The Durango is not bad
I use my Durango for towing so I don’t mind the ride height at all, the only thing I dislike on mine is the driver side headlight is full of water so the led doesn’t work anymore and my racetrack led is also burnt out. Warranty will not cover any of it 😢
I planned on getting one to tow with also. How do you like it?
@@niceprince it ended up not working too well. Found out it didn’t have the factory tow package so it could only do like 2500 pounds max and none of the trailer wiring worked no matter what I did to diagnose it. Ended up selling it in September and now I have a ram power wagon.

@@clubracer6 I got crap warranty. The dealer said it was bumper to bumper but that’s not the case at all. Got rid of the Durango since it was a lemon. I did sell it for more than I bought it for though.

Yes the battery location sucks. I've personally changed one in my wife's 2013 Durango R/T so you can see Dodge never learned their lesson in all those years. As far as jumping it there's a positive and negative post in the engine bay for those purposes so not a very valid complaint. The weight is God awful but let's not jump over the main culprit why all Dodge Durango's suck and that's the gutless gas guzzling Hemi. Dodge would make you believe this thing was a world beater but it only beats up your gas budget and will lose to almost everything on the road currently. With 0-60 times at a manufacturer claimed 6.2sec you'd be lucky to do better than 7sec EVER!!! I'd say 7.5-8sec is what most ppl will experience in everyday conditions and get ready for 11-12mpg. And to think we traded an 07 Trailblazer SS in cuz we needed more room. I've missed it every day since. For a family SUV fine, as a performance SUV no way. And I'll give you the water in the "race track" lighting complaint cuz ppl will need to clearly see the turd they are no doubt lapping constantly.

About the battery location. 1)Does it not have the jump terminals under the hood? and 2) Be thankful it's not like my Challenger, in the trunk with no mechanical open from the exterior. So, if the battery goes bad, you have to crawl through the back seat into the trunk to open it.
I know I’m probably 2 yrs too late but there should be a positive and negative post under the hood on the left between the fuse box and the front windshield to jump start it. So you really only have to go under the seat to disconnect the battery.
The battery being under the passenger seat protects and saves the battery. The battery will last longer bc the motor produces so much heat, and heat kills the battery overtime, the battery is out of the elements under the seat. AND you can still jump your Durango under the hood. What are you talking about having to jump it under the seat?

I've got a Mercedes gl550 and battery in the same location and it's actually not bad to access and remove. Also to jump start u have battery posts under the hood for jump starting.
The dodge durango chasis is the same as this Mercedes

We have a '22 Durango RT+ AWD and it still came with the same basic Dodge grille. Otherwise I still love the Durango and the 5.7 liter platform (super easy to rebuild)

Dome lights are not supposed to be super bright. The interior lights are really on to be used at night in the dark. Have you ever gone from a bright room inside a house to stepping outside in the dark. It takes longer for your eyes to adjust. Upgrade them if you want. But know the dangers.
I'm not looking to buy the R/T model so badges don't concern me.
That wheel well gap is for clearance and to be able to put beefier tires on. I live in the Midwest. Mud and snow are a regular occurrence for me during their respective seasons.
Battery location can be annoying. But you clearly haven't looked under your hood. There are terminals under your hood to jump start you vehicle or for you to hook up to jump start someone else. Read your manual my friend. If only dodge put it under the floor of the chargers instead of under the back seat. You would have to remove the back seat (seat portion) to get to the battery. I had a dodge Journey before and to change the battery you had to remove the front driver side tire. So yeah, I'll take it under the floor if it's not up front under the hood.
As for weight, what should a full size 3 row seating SUV weigh? Have you compared it to similar sized SUVs from other manufacturers? They are all extremely similar in weight.
The water seepage in the taillights was the only mechanical thing you mentioned. That is quite an annoyance, I had a vehicle that had that issue with just the driver side headlight. I tried sealing that birch like 5 times, every time I had to change the bulb because it was annoying. I ended up taking the entire headlight assembly out, smearing the entire crease with JB weld and then when I put the new bulb in I put fingernail polish all around where the bulb/socket fits into the assembly. I think the worst of the fingernail polish was that my daughters fought over which color I should use.
As for the blinker being too dim..... Park on the street by your house, turn on the blinker, then walk down the street until you can't tell if the blinker is on or not. I guarantee you the flashing orange can be seen for at least 2-3 blocks away in the daylight.
You can jumpstart your car by using the terminal under the hood and the ground plug under the hood
Imo, the battery location is kind of dumb (like the battery in the driverside front fender on my '05 sebring) and the water intrusion will become an issue at some point. Everything else seems kind of petty in all honesty.
I only really have 3 dislikes about my '04 durango 5.7l v8; gas mileage (maybe 14 mpg mixed on a good day), 16 fricking spark plugs, and the suspension/steering on my particular vehicle hasnt aged well. Other than that, i love everything else about her, and shes been paid in full, so no point in getting rid of her (193k miles and counting). :)

none of these "issues" were things you wouldn't have known about when purchasing, aside from the tail light.
My parents had a Buick Lesabre that had battery under rear seat. Actually better for the battery to be in a cooler location and there are points under the hood to jump off.

you do not need to jump start the car from the battery under the FRONT Passenger seat [access through the front of the seat not rear as in this video] just like EVERY other car that has a rear battery there is a negative and positive lug under the hood on the passenger side for testing and jumping.
