AUDIO SET UP WITH THE UI24R PATCHING OR ANY AUDIO INTERFACE FOR BACKING TRACKS using MULTITRACKER

  • This helps get past the mystery of the UI24R patching for live performance and shows the power of Multitracker to work in a professional setup with professional audio interfaces. This demystifies audio routing and there is a special explanation of set up for IEM’s (brief “how to” about using your mixer to isolate click and cues to IEM’s. Stick with it if you need to figure out the UI24R or Multitracker audio routing.
Let me know if you have any questions and, as usual, share your wisdom with me, as well!!

Hey John, i just want to say thank you, again!!! 3 years ago i bought the UI16 to run my tracks, and it didnt have the plug for my input for the tablet so i needed the interface, today i bought the UI24r and i knew you had what i needed for routing. Now ill use the interface with my ui16 and have 2 rigs.i will keep my 4 tacks the way you taught using 1 & 2 as L&R. 3 as Bass, and 4 as click and triggers, so i dont have to reprogram all my songs....LOL. spme day ill buy you dinner!!

I do the same thing with my ipad and multitracker but my "daw levels" are too low. Any idea about that?

Hi Copia, the first issues may be sort of ridiculous, but may apply. You need to turn up all the way the volume on your iPad, that is what I would do first, and it's the easiest. Secondly, turn up the output faders per song. Third, all audio tracks may need to be normalized (this is a pain. Try it with one song and see what happens, first). Fourth, the compressor per channel, when engaged, offers additional gain per tracks. I apply the compressor to my click and cue tracks. As you already know, the UI24R does not have Gain adjustment for DAW channels. Let me know if we need to brainstorm this more!

I use a 16 and a 24 for live use. The 24 in mine home studio is did sell yesterday. I had him on release date. Live they are perfect. But for the studio it’s to noisy.
For live applications they are perfect and cheap. It’s time for Soundcraft to come with a 24 mk4 with better mic pre’s and more DSP. But the in the same form factor.

Hi..here is one of your sus. I have look to all your videos...and this is one of the sets I am really into. But I have some questions:
    1. You connect IPAD for multitrack via USB and using multitracker software you sent AUDIO TRACKS. BUT...what about MIDI tracks. Can you sent to he UI24r CC messages from Multitracker?? I would like to automate snapshots call via multitracker....but ...I think is not possible this way.
    2. Can you use the mixer APP of the UI24r at the same time. I mean can you connect via wifi (or with ethernet) at the same time to the UI24r and switch on the same IPAD between multitracker and the Native app of UI24r??
    3. I have seen a third party app called MIXING STATION that could be the solution to automate control of the UI24r via MULTITRACKER (midi). Have you heard about??
    THANKS!!!

Hi Abby, thanks for the question. Very good questions. First, the UI24R doesn’t receive MIDI data. I have had the same thought about launching snapshots like you but you can’t do that. I checked out MIXING STATION but never bought it because it doesn’t look like it works. I will be testing it over the next few weeks to see if it is workable. It may be a waste of money. I have a video where I demo running the UI24R and Multitracker, and another program called MIDISTUDIO from the same iPad during an actual show. It is this link here.
      th-cam.com/video/xvK_qXwXtaA/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
That is how I handle workflow. I don’t use MIDISTUDIO any more because I found a more sophisticated app called Surface Builder.
      Thanks for the questions!
