  • This desk is anything but - no faders and knobs to go wrong and needing cleaning all the time. Furthermore, it’s all in the box and controlled over WiFi or Ethernet by up to 10 devices at any one time.
    This is a truly awesome bit of kit, and you can also multitrack record onto a USB pen drive. Just put it into computer afterwards and see all your tracks saved separately.
    Genius....

    I'm sold. I have had two bands come through using the behringer xair 18 and the Allen heath digital wireless. This looks beautiful with more logical menus.

    Hated the interface when I first used it but My god it has become the most intuitive way to mix live/Rec ever!!! Sc really put their all into the UI series

      Love the mix view feature. Basically have drums, band and fx VCAs and vox channels in one view and if I want to digg deeper expand the vca. The XR can do similar but it's harder to get to. Otoh the XR has way more control over the fx and many more options. Ui does not have parametric EQ on the outputs, that's a bummer. But the afs feedback suppression is nice.

      Also the big desktop mode is awesome. I would prefer to have the input channels move with the fader channels. Maybe there's a switch somewhere.

    We used the ui16 for 7 years on stage, as a live return system but also sometimes to feed the front PA when the front mixer/engineer sucked. We re upgrading to ui24 this coming week :) amazing tool. Great video! Thank you

    Great video (and guitar playing), Dan! I bought the Ui24R some months ago and just love it! Nearly bought Behringer Air 18 - but found out the problems with non available apps etc. So happy with Soundcraft!

    Superbly well done video. Just ordered my unit...going to be a few months. But yes, I was astonished by the low price. This unit will be used for our band on stage, as a recording unit, and...probably for making tea....

    I have a question. Shouldn't you have the HI-Z enabled for a guitar signal?
    Sorry, I asked prematurely. Later on the video you mentioned that.

    Great video, Would be fantastic if you could do a basic recording tutorial using the ui24r only and then maybe with DAWs in separate video's, been going nuts trying to sort things out, but this is a GOTO video for any beginner... of course it took some time to figure out you have to unmute the effects on my own lol.

    Hey Dan.
    Great content.
    Have you had a dead/quiet channel on that board before?
    If yes, how did you get it working again?
    I happen to have one like that and it has 2 dead channels

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kyle, I’ve read about others with the same problem. Not happened to me yet, but sometimes the “reset phantom power” on startup doesn’t function. I’ve heard that plugging a mic in with phantom already applied can cause some harm. Shouldn’t do, but apparently does.

    • @kyleAradufite
      @kyleAradufite ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanBakerMusic wow
      I didn’t think that would be of any harm.
      I’ll make sure to turn it before I plug anything in!
      Thanks for this

  • @johngembka7052

    When it comes to the compressor, is there a "sidechain" setting like on a physical DBX compressor with a sidechain input for ducking purposes or does one need to move a virtual slider up and down when making announcements and introductions at, for example, a wedding?

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good point well made, and I will investigate...

    • @johngembka7052
      @johngembka7052 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanBakerMusic I was in contact direct with SoundCraft support and, unfortunately, the sidechain feature is not part of their compressor software. I looked at several other brands (PreSonus, A&H, RCF to name a few), and the only one which has the sidechain feature in their compressor software is PreSonus. Someone told me they "think" Behringer might have it, but I won't do Behringer. Same person also said they're pretty sure Midas also has it, but cheap Midas is Behringer in disguise and the real-deal Midas is just too expensive for my application.

    • @GertvanderDoes
      @GertvanderDoes ปีที่แล้ว

      There's an automix function that will duck other channels but I'm not sure if that will do what you want. That's for conferences and meetings.

  • @paddyeire96
    @paddyeire96 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Dan, love the vid. Have you used this live? Have you ever had audio dropouts? I'm planning on using this for live work, wedding band, and afraid that it might dropout during the first dance! Absolutely love the GUI, it's the best I've seen. Thanks mate!

    • @GertvanderDoes
      @GertvanderDoes ปีที่แล้ว

      Dropouts usually concern the wifi connections of the controlling devices. I've never heard of audio dropouts. Just recently got this Soundcraft so first gig will be next week. Used a Behringer XR18 for years, never a dropout. Now wifi is an entirely different story. Get a router.

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there - I used to get screen reboots on the external monitor, but the audio stayed. Things got much better when I put a cooling fan on it. An easy job and with instant results.

    • @JohnnyRawks
      @JohnnyRawks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GertvanderDoes Hey there! I have been seriously looking at the XR18. I need an audio interface for my new home studio, but I also may do live sound, possibly karaoke etc, and really like the idea of mixing over-the-air from anywhere in the room. How did you like the XR18 and what made you move to the Soundcraft? Should I be considering the Ui24 instead? Cheers!

    • @GertvanderDoes
      @GertvanderDoes ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JohnnyRawks basically because I play in a 6-piece band and we're considering going to in-ears. And I've always felt a little bit cramped on the XR18. I have had it maxed out on channels several times Ave I like to have spare. The Ui24r has 4 extra inputs and 4 extra out. If you don't need more, than the XR is awesome. They both have their pro's and cons in the control software and features and I've heard the Ui24r has a tiny bit better sound but I doubt you'd hear it unless you A/B them. Note that the smaller ui mixers are not the same. They have different components and I've heard they sound significantly less good. The 16 and 12 were developed and marketed by an Australian company, Soundcraft picked them up and added the 24 with better sonics.

    • @GertvanderDoes
      @GertvanderDoes ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JohnnyRawks there's also the Midas MR18 that is the same as the XR but better quality mic pre's. For studio I would recommend that. Ui24r can record all of its channels directly to a fast usb stick. That might be useful.

    Hi Dan. I'm new to Ui24r. We are 5-piece band with 2 guitars and struggling to pan guitarists, so they don't sit centre in the mix. Do you know how to pan each guitar let say 65-75% ? Thanks for any tips!

    • @andysykes5323
      @andysykes5323 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I order to pan left or right you have to use 2 mixer channels. Stereo link 2 channels and pan controls will shown at the top of the channel strip.

    Hi. How reliable are there units? I’ve heard horrors. People saying they developed noise after some time, or it didn’t connect among other complaints.

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are certainly a few things that crop up, but for me, buying an HDMI display, an external router and a computer fan have made it reliable. I do use it lots.

    Just one question, it uses usb 2 right? How does it do with regards to latency while tracking to a DAW ?

    • @DanBakerMusic
      @DanBakerMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s ok. Won’t set the latency world on fire, but because you can monitor through the desk, workarounds would be quite straight forward...

    • @gunnarwaage4343
      @gunnarwaage4343 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you would use it for tracking in the studio no problems.

    • @agork
      @agork 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is no latency while tracking with a band. There might be depending on your DAW system computer, when overdubbing.
