Just like the Old Shovel, Watching your bike restoration is relaxing and the more I appreciate one of my getting old bicycle for many years to come. *yeehaw! 🚲🤘
Nice job! Really makes me miss my 1994 GT Outpost! Kicking myself for selling that bike when I was a teenager. Would love to have it back again to restore like you did! 👍🏾
Thank you! Yes, I could've upgraded the parts, but the parts were good enough for the amount of bike riding she does which is just a stroll through the park once in awhile.
Well done Tony! I saw this GT the other day riding, restored to pristine condition. Maybe it's a good idea to spray on some WD40 on those rusted bolt, so as when you unbolt it, doesn't stress the thread too much.
17:43 not sure about how you connected the U-brake cables. I had a GT back in the day and believe it was done differently ("X" shape). Apart from that: nice job! I like that you replaced what needed to be replaced only and reused most of the original components. kudos!
@@CowboyTomi thanks for your reply. i'm sure it's absolutely fine the way you did it. just for the sake of 'period correctness': i believe that the cablehanger you used is primarily intended for cantilever brakes. That's because cantis feature a different angle for the cables compared to U brakes. kindly see attatched link, please www.mtbr.com/threads/setting-up-rear-brake-91-gt-avalanche.922113/#lg=thread-922113&slide=0
@@pc-pq6es Omg, this is so helpful! No wonder I was stumped on why there was nothing protecting the cables from rubbing the frame! And X crossed. The bike simply was missing that piece that I had no clue about! Thank you! I'm gonna find a replacement piece and come back to it!
Those retro colors are the coolest, I think tange is decent steel, I miss my Diamondback Apex, I gave it to a kid, but his was riding a BMX that was small for him, did a full tune up on it.
Is replacement parts easy to find for the gt outpost? I have 1 but it needs new shifters, derailleur, 26" wheel and probably a few other parts. Is it Worth the fix??
I have the exact bike, same color and decals etc.. my dad bought it for me new when i was 15. I havent ridden it due to a bad bottom bracket in a long time but with the help of your video i just today got i out. Can i ask what bottom bracket you reolaced yours with? If you have a link that would be awesome.

Thanks! I installed it the way I saw it and I assumed it was never touched, and works back to normal.

Does anyone know what type of rear brake I can replace the original brake with on this bike? the posts are larger than the front brake posts...

Thank you! Biking is such a good common ground for everyone to get together.

do you spray with classic wd40 for cleaning the parts?
No, only to clean rust off!
moms 💗 enjoyed the cleaning ASMR on this one!!!

Well done. I like you method.
Thank you!
What tyres using?
I believe they’re the WTB All Terrains.
Are the forks 1 inch or 1 and 1eighth threaded. I'm restoring the same bike thanks
This bike is a 1 inch quil stem!
What size frame is this cowboy?
I believe its a XS with 24" wheels.
Love it man!
Thanks Andy!
You need to preload the spring on those brakes before you tighten them down that’s why it’s a bolt shape, Nice build man.
Yes, thanks for the heads up! Thank you!
The feels

That's actually a 1991 GT Outpost in Hot Lava colour scheme. Great condition, looks like it's sat in a garage for 30 years.
oh yeah, sounds about right actually!
1993 was that finer hot lava pattern all over the bike, and the back rack bolts were at the seat post (top tube).
What can one expect to pay for a bike like this?
Such a strange braking system, I think it was before they invented v-brakes.
Yeah, I was very intrigued how the straddle is in the small triangle.
S/o to your mom cause y’all would straight up not be here !
❤️❤️❤️❤️
restored ?? you even didn't clean it properly ;/
It was unrideable and filthy. now, it looks a thousand times better than before. I would say it is restored!
